hi. this may be a stupid question but when i use the browser on my nook cm7, there is a back arrow to go back pages but no forward one.
Hit menu, it should be there.
thanks. that does help. is there a way to put it down in the bottom thing?

Nope, that bottom area is for buttons that most android phones/tablets have that the nook lacks. If you want a dedicated forward button, try a different web browser.

Hi...
Just downloaded and installed Myn's Android for my HTC Touch... im having a hard time getting use to it...i guess it will come with time... but in the meantime... may be can someone tell me how to get to the dialer if i'm several levels deep in a screen, example, i'm currently downloading an app or viewing a map...and i'd like to call someone?
So far the only option is i have to back out using the camera button like 5-6 screens to get to my home screen and then click dialer... which to me is a bit unintuitive ... i've tried all combinations of buttons ( holding multiple secs too) and i couldnt find a way to get back to the home or even better dial out but clicking the send button ( which i'm used to in winmo)
Also, how do i access the running tasks? or do the tasks close eveytime i back out? I guess i need a how to use android 101..

The green key should work...if it's not you can hold in the camera button to go straight to home and click your dialer icon. For running tasks, you need to download a task manager like advanced task manager or taskkiller. Search for tatnai's FAQ to get started. I'm sure a lot of your questions will be answered there.

Here is a great FAQ by Tatnai for the Buttons:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5665206&postcount=51
Here is Tatnai's full FAQ which I use as a first resource for questions:

Enjoy!
hold camera button for a couple sec and it will back all the way out to the homescreen without having to hit it several times.
Both the camera and green button does not have the long press function... so it does not bring the Home screen... like i saw on some youtube android tutorial... I'll check the Tatnai's FAq to see .. .may be its just a settings on the Myn which is not activated by default.. i have the RLS version 4 of MYN... (not sure which Android version it is though....) sorry i'm learning as i post the questions and skim through the various threads

a reboot fixed my problem... thanks!
I did a search and came up with nothing. Sorry if it's been asked.
Is there a way to make the trackball work like a mouse when browsing? I know that you can scroll on links with it but I would like another option to scroll.
Please direct me to the correct thread if I missed it on the search. Thanks.
How does your's work? What browser and version are you running?
Mine totally works like a mouse scroll.
I have stock froyo, and for me I can only use the trackball to scroll through links on the browser.
I did some digging and couldn't find any settings to enable the trackball to work as a mouse.
So how you did it?

I use the Rodriguezstyle ROM. I'm in the same boat as gratti but I use the Dolphin HD browser. I can only scroll through links but not scroll like a normal mouse like on a regular PC.
One of the biggest reason I want to be able to use it like a mouse scroll is (if it's even possible at all) when I play some flash games, I would like to be able to scroll to the buttons I want to press instead of using my fingers (which is pretty hard to do). And of course since I am only able to scroll through links, it does not allow me to click the controls in the flash games.
Have you guys tried using Opera Mini, it makes the track ball work as a mouse, but then agains it isnt the best browser.
i think dolphin hd lets u use the volume buttons as a scroll

Right, that I know and it has a lot less options and functions than DHD.
I know about scrolling with the volume button on DHD, but that just makes no sense cause what if you want to increase/decrease the volume while you are on the webpage?
My Droid 1 has a direction pad on the slide out keyboard which makes it nice for moving the cursor when entering in text instead of using your finger.
Does anyone know of a keyboard that can be installed that has a directional pad included? I got fat fingers and moving the cursor is hard enough lol. I'm running a few releases behind the newest Vegan build (just haven't backed up everything yet).
Thanks!
Bryan
(just realized this might want to be moved to the general section, not themes and apps.... sorry)
Smart keyboard use cursor keys.
Smart keyboard pro
Anyone actually managed to use them
I installed smart keyboard and Ultra keyboard but even when enabled the don't replace the existing keyboard. ( Vegan5.1 )
Using it now with tnt lite 3.1.2
Install with mod as discussed in other threads
Thumb keyboard is great for this tablet. Has cursor keys, and is easy to use. Can setup the layout for different size devices too.
Thanks for confirmation, I'll look for it

Do you actually know how to enable the keyboard? You have to select the checkmark in settings to let your tablet know it is available but to actually use the keyboard... You open something with a text box and then long press in the box. A popup should come up with input method as a selection. Tap that and all your keyboards will be there to pick from.
I only say this because I don't think you were doing the input method, change the keyboard thing...
Yes, I have them enabled the but I don't get the pop up to sellect the keyboard when I want to type. ( Working fine on my Desire phone)
Update, stupid me - long press in the text box
I am using thumb keyboard also and it has a great directional pad and seems to have great support. But either its the touch screen of the gtab or thumb keyboard cuz there is some serious issue of "lag" or lack of response. I am actually blaming the grab touch screen cuz I find it unresponsive in other places at times.

There was a thread awhile ago about touchscreen sensitivity, and a calibration apparently at boot. Search for 'calibration.ini'. It fixed the problem for lots of people.

I have found the directional keys on occasion to be a little slow myself. If you want to do the calibration of the screen just create a empty text file named calibration.ini and place it in the internal sdcard. I have one on the external also because I can never remember where it looks for it. Then reboot you tablet without touching the screen and it will do it's thing. You won't see it do anything, but it seems to work.
thumb keyboard
i also use thumb keyboard. goto handango to purchase it. less than 2 bux and its the best keyboard for gtab
ill have to give these a try out! Thanks!

Saw the video of it, looks great. Searched for it but can't find that version yet. Hope it will show up as an update soon.
OK, what am I doing wrong...
I installed several different keyboards (the free versions until I know they work for me) and I can not get any of them to be selected. I go into the settings and I see them listed and no matter how many times I press the checkbox they will not select. If I go into the settings for any of these new keayboards I get a force close.
Running TNT Lite 4.10 now. Same thing was happening on older versions.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That is a known issue with TnT. There settings menu doesn't let you select keyboards. I don't use TnT anymore but there is a way to change the settings app to the normal Android type, select the keyboard, and then there is a way to go back to the TnT settings menu and they stick. Pain in the A.. You can't just change the settings menu and leave it because it hoses up other things. There are a couple other ways I think people do it but you just need to search for "alternate keyboards" or something like that.
I personally can't stand anything TnT and run vegaN.
I get a force close when using either Smart Keyboard Pro or Thumb Keyboard. Force closes only began after repartitioning .....any ideas?? I was successfully running Smart Keyboard Pro before repartition.
I am just wondering if there is a ROM out there or app, that places the home, menu, search and back buttons on the screen.
Thanks

You can use the google search bar for searching. I haven't seen anything for menu, home, or back but they really wouldn't be useful because once you are off the home screens, you wouldn't be able to select those buttons. Can I ask what you want to use them for?
I am trying to integrate the captivate into former carpc.
One nice feature is that video out displays everything, so right now i have video out to my lilliput 7". If the usb host function works out in the developer section, then I am going to see if I can compile a kernel for a linex driver for my touch screen (3m micro touch capacitive touch screen on my lilluput). If so then I have a portable carputer with a external 7" touch interface. I really just need pandora, google nav, email, and hands-free phone, everything I need in a small package. The hard buttons for back and home could be an issue was looking to see if someone had already implemented it.
Thanks
Try button savior from the market and see if that is what you are looking for.
Thank you, that what I was looking for.
