I would love to have a custom boot animation made from one of the Tiamat wallpapers shown here. If some one could take the these and simply add a spinner I would really appreciate it.
My artistic capabilities are pretty basic and even then I do not understand how to create these bootanimation.zip files. I tried modifying an existing one and it did not work, so something went wrong.
If someone can help me with the creation of the zip file I have come up with some art work that is passable. I have tried creating the zip file, but the Xoom does not like it.
I've converted a few videos to bootamimations and have a few working desc.txt files. Also fixed a few phone animations to work on the xoom. What do you need help with?
Working on a few right now for others but I can see if I can help in any way
Thanks for the offer to help. Basically I think I understand the desc.txt file and the required folder structure but when I push the file over the animation does not work. Now I just took the wallpaper and added a progress indicator as simply as I could, so it is not very artistic. If you could take a look I would really appreciate it.
I am using WinZip and I have it set to no compression.
i'll give it a quick look today and let you know.
edit: it looks like you may need to just put part0 and the desc.txt file in the zip file, not put them in a folder first, then in the zip file. good idea for the loading, you could get some crazy designs with it if you wanted to take it further. i'll try and modify the zip file and update again.
edit 2: works now bro. it runs a little fast, so if you want to reduce the frame rate a bit from 20 to maybe about 15 or so, it could help (just a thought). anyway here is the updated zip.
Thank you very much. The version you posted works fine. Could you tell me what program you are using to create the zip file? I am using WinZip and whenever I create the file or edit it, the resulting file does not work for me. I checked the folder structure and it should be fine. I edited the text file to reduce the frame rate but then when I recreated the zip file it would not work.
no problem. i used 7zip to zip it, just make sure you have the compression set to STORE. ive tried with winzip before and had no luck.

Very nice, much better than anything I could come up with. This should be included with any Tiamat ROMs.
Thank you very much!
Hi guys.
Before rooting/flashing my Xoom, it had a nice Motorola animation with the red Motorola logo and some kind of circle waves going out from it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to install that animation? I did a CWR backup before flashing, so it might be in there ¿?
Or is it available in the forum?
Thanks
Rodrigo
As far as I know, the default boot animation on the Xoom was the blue Honeycomb animation. I've never seen anything resembling the one you mention, although I wouldn't mind seeing it as a sort of collector.
Not sure how you would get that one little part out of CWM, so short of finding a copy somewhere online, you might be out of luck.

Nice animation. I uploaded it and it worked great. Thanks
Nice animation. Now, with the Tiamat Dragon Head Logo, someone should do a full Dragon theme for the Xoom. With dragon icons and graphics I think it would be great. Just wish I had a little talent as an artist and themer.

Hello all,
Attached to this post is an updated version of the BIOS boot animation for your shiny Desire HDs I don't own one myself (just yet at least!), but I was making one for LeeDrOiD's ROMs, and thought it would be good to create a generic one if you are using a different Custom ROM.
This is based off of the original creative/design of frysee! Thanks to him for allowing me to mod this boot animation for the DHD!
I have tested this on my Classic Desire and it seems to work great, so if anyone runs into any issues, please let me know in this thread.
Some things you should note:
bootanimation.zip is within the scar45-desireHD-bios-bootanimation.zip
android_audio.mp3 is also included, which is start up sounds from an old PC
You should be able to replace the originals, either by replacing them in the .zip before flashing, or using S-OFF (or recovery) to replace them after.
Most common path for these 2 files is /system/customize/resource
Previews below were mangled by the forum upload process, but they're perfectly crisp 480 x 800 PNGs within the .zip
Note that this did take me a good while (editing 92 .PNGs), since I couldn't use the classic Desire BIOS generator to make the specs change to the Desire HD, so any donations are greatly appreciated, especially if you get a kick out of this boot animation!
Oh, and if you want to include this boot animation on your website/ROM/etc., just send me a PM first...thanks!
Hope you enjoy!

Hi goran, I don't have a Desire HD myself, but I believe you should look in /data/local to see if the original .zip file is there. If so, simply replace it (you'll need S-OFF, or do it via Recovery using ADB).
Do NOT try and flash the .zip that you downloaded (scar45-desireHD-bios-bootanimation.zip) as it contains another .zip file within, namely 'bootanimation.zip' which is the one that you should replace. Neither .zip files are actually flashable, so you'll probably just get an error if you attempt to. With the provided .zip package that I've attached to this post, you should be able to Google and find the answers as to how to replace it if you're still having difficulties.
Thanks for your interest in this too!
It's quite funky. I had a little chuckle when I saw that apparently the HTC Ace has an i440BX motherboard in it though
ah ok...i have custom lee's rom with soff and recovery...but I cannot find anywhere the bootanimation
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
THX for the animation.
with estrongs I was able to replace these files.
very nice
Just replaced the files and rebooted my DHD.
Always liked the old fashion boot..
Thanks for your work.

Hey Guys,
I have been running CyanogenMod 7 on my Milestone for a while now, and I love it! But I do think it could do with a little bit more of eye candy. So I was wondering, is there anyway to port the gingerbread window animations to CyanogenMod?
I have tried a few Metamorph tricks, but wasn't successful. I also heard about an app called AnimMod which is supposed to do this, but I cant try it out as I am not allowed to buy paid apps in my country. So, I would be glad if anyone posted a link to a working procedure for changing the window animations.
All windows animations are in the framework-res.apk under the res/anim folder.
You can replace those with the GB animation files and apply again. Please note that you need to replace only those that are there in both the framework files.
[email protected]
Thanks for the answer.
Where can I find the gingerbread animation files? I dont have the gingerbread ROM, so would it be possible to download the files from some place.
Also, I am curious to know, why weren't these animations implemented in the CyanogenMod in the first place. I would have thought most people would appreciate the better animations of Gingerbread.
Edit: I just watched a walkthrough, and it seems that the animations in CyanogenMod are the same as those in Gingerbread. Still, it would be nice to know where I can find some new animation files
Wow I forgot that I put this together.
I named it FlyIn_FlipOut because I combined the Flying animation with the Flip Animation.
I actually spent alot of time on it pinpointing specific things which was a pain in the ass.
Anyway, it's attached.
I hope that somebody thinks that it's neat
I have attached the animation xml files for the following animation effects.
Flip
Fold
Flying
Bounce
Blur
FroyoMOD ( animations found in Luca's FroyoMOD )
All you need to do is to copy it into the folder that i mentioned in the previous post and apply it again.
Thanks Guys.
I need some more info on how to do this thing properly:
1. Where is the framework-res.apk located? I found one in the system/ framework folder but it is named as framerwork-res-mot.apk.
2. How do i change the files? and finally how do i install the apk.
In short, it would be great if you could post the steps to modify CyanogenMod to incorporate the new animations.

Download the theme updater flashable template zip file from here.
Download and extract the contents of the zip file provided by Zeppe to your desktop.
Your framework-res.apk is in your /system/framework folder. Using 7zip or winzip, open framework-res.apk and replace the animation files in the /res/anim folder.
Copy the framework-res.apk into the /system/framework folder of the theme updater template zip file. Copy the template zip file into openrecovery/updates folder and apply in AOR after wiping dalvik/cache.

This may not be the best looking boot animation, as it's just a combination from the teaser trailer on YouTube.
It's looped and will just replay. This is my first boot animation....first of anything in this sorts. Going to do a complete overhaul this week of it, so please refrain from flaming this noob . In Xbox terms...I'm a scrub
Here is the video I made of it as a preview:

I used WinZip. I highlighted all my files(pictures tthat are in the two different folders you're using to store photos ,and desc.txt file- right click and choose: add to archive and make sure the setting is set to 'store'.
I used 256 x 256 (PNG FILES) The same dimensions as the animation in Cyanogen Mod. My current project uses a different resolution than my current.
When you play the YouTube video, you will see an annotation that leads you to my newest boot animation, that is the video sshowing the boot animation running at different res.
Download my ananimation and extract the files to you desktop. Take the desc file and the names of the folders, and put them on your desktop. The desc.txt file will have your settings and you can just change them.accordingly to your devices dimensions or FPS you want your animation to run at.
Did this help?

Yes. depending on the dimensions of your phones screen, you wont have a problem.
rename your current bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip.Bak..
Flash my boot ani and test it. If not, you'll still have the stock bootani.
Or you simply put tthe bootani in system/data where your initial boot animation was/is.
I wanted to try something small as a just got in to modding a few days ago but unfortunately I still needed some help. Thanks to qbking77 & jkrough0728 for all your assistance in making this noobs day!
Just to give a little back here it is for any of you that would like it. Before you ask no it doesn't include the sound. Install it with the copy/paste method (not flashable)
Edit - Make sure you push it using root explorer, I tried others like file explorer and such and it didn't take.

I was wondering if any kind soul could make it possible to provide flashable zips to change the transition animations on our phones. I know that Adrynalyne had some cool transition animations on some versions of his SuperClean Rom, but I would like to continue this. Also, in particular, if it's possible to have a screen rotation animation I would love to have that also. Thanks!
The only way would be to either have metamorf files (which someone posted here a very long time ago) of the different animations or have multiple zips that only include framework-res.apk. The animations are controlled by xmls located in framework-res.apk/res/anim. I myself for my personal theme have created a nice cocktail of the various types of animation xmls used tasefully for various ui events and actions.

Saw that app, and a couple of fascinate users comment that it boot looped them. If that app swaps out the "whole" anim folder within the apk and if you're running comm rom or the newer sbrissen mods it will surely boot loop you. 7 xml's pertaining to the lockscreens have been added by sbrissen to that anim folder and if those get deleted by an app replacing the whole anim folder within the framework it will certainly lead to trouble.
good day.

Actually there is a way to patch basically any apk or jar file on the phone through a flashable zip. I have been doing exactly that so that I can maintain mods between upgrades.
An anim patch would be very easy to apply without breaking anything. But as chopper the dog stated, if you mess with or delete others then there will be issues.
Anyhow if interested I can put together a basic anim patch for testing or I can share a readily available anim patch for cm7 (mtd, possibly miui as well) as proof of concept. From there you could modify what you want patched to your liking and the updater-script for (rfs) if needed.
Of course this is something that only myself have used, so it would come with no guarantee's. Would be interesting to see how compatible it would be or better yet how far it could be taken. I have replaced resource's this way without issue.

It would be great if you could get this tested by a few brave individuals. If you want, you can use my thread or make another one. I personally need the stability of Comm Rom for everyday use of my phone so I won't be going to CM7 until some of the signal, SOD, and calling issues are addressed. The AnimMod app works great but I would like to see a larger compilation of transition animations to choose from. We could even stick these zips in the theme sticky . Also what about screen rotation animations? Is this possible? Thanks for answering my call to god!

Did you ever realize that the reason you are so disliked on xda is because you needlessly start **** and then act like a 5 year old?

It would be great if you could get this tested by a few brave individuals. If you want, you can use my thread or make another one. I personally need the stability of Comm Rom for everyday use of my phone so I won't be going to CM7 until some of the signal, SOD, and calling issues are addressed. The AnimMod app works great but I would like to see a larger compilation of transition animations to choose from. We could even stick these zips in the theme sticky . Also what about screen rotation animations? Is this possible? Thanks for answering my call to god!

Those SOD issues were a blessing in disguise.. lol
Not completely familiar with screen rotation animations. A quick search states there used to be what they called fancy animations in android 1.5 but no longer added after. I could be wrong this is my first android phone, so I don't know the history. Anyhow there are some slightly rotating anims in the patch.
Ok, so this is what is going on..
An apk is just a zip file with an .apk extension. So what I am doing is utilizing a zip binary that is copied to a temp location along with some very basic commands. With these commands its basically injecting the structure of the res folder in the patch, to your framework.
Therefor you can use this to inject basically anything as long as you follow the structure. As stated before I have changed resource level items such as colors without issue. Just be advised if you change out any id's from public.xml and many others it will end in failure. This can also be modified to patch any apk or even jar files. It can also be modified to make a cwm zip of your current rom, data apps etc... The list go's on!
So in a sum, the zip will copy a zip & zipalign binary along with the script and patch files to /tmp. The script will kick in and as an added bonus (incase anything go's wrong) will make a backup of your existing framework-res.apk and create a cwm zip and place it on the root of your sdcard called notta-anim-patch-restore.zip. This zip can be flashed to restore the previous state.
Then utilizing the zip binary, will inject the patch files zipalign and ovewrite your /system/framework/framework-res.apk. In this case a set of animations. I hope this is a satisfactory explanation.
As with anything you flash, you do it you except responsibility. Also I have personally tested this one ukb 2.1. This should work with any touchwiz fascinate rom, well anything with a system location at "stl9".
