hey, so i don't know if this has been mentioned already (forgive me if it has), but my dad's Samsung Galaxy S keeps locking up (in sleep mode, and i can't wake it up) and requires a battery pull+reboot to get it working again. this happens randomly every few weeks, and it's really getting on my nerves.. it's running on MIUI, but i noticed this issue on all of the other ROMs i flashed on it, as well as on the stock ROM.
is there a fix for this? or am i the only one that has this issue?

did that... still does it D:
I would go trough 3-file odin flash with pit+partition to make sure, that everything is working properly. Maybe even trough JM9 (eclair) to some 2.2.1 (JSD maybe)...if GB features aren't needed.
Btw..you don't need to pull battery when bsod happens..just keep power button pressed for 10 seconds (it's little easier.. )

Greetings!
I flashed darkys mod 10.1 and it seems that everything is working properly. I had battery drain issues, but I calibrated battery and it seems to work well now. Some apps does have crash issues now. But most unusual thing is, after I flashed it my android version seems to be upgraded to 2.3.3 or so my phone info tells me.. how is that possible? But if it really upgraded from froyo to gingerbread app crashing is normal I quess.
Real problem is, while I start/restart my phone, screen flickers and has odd color mess and then phone starts and after my phone starts and I launch some apps it does the same thing... Is it really a problem or just some miniatyre bug?
I didn't clean my phone as I flashed it, but that shouldn't be anykind of problem.
Hopefully you'll understand what I try to say and thanks for help.

Sound like you didnt follow the instructions?
Darkys is based on gingerbread 2.3.3 if it was your first time flashing darkys it is recommended to flash the Ficeto JVH rom first, if you didnt do this, its probably why you are having problems.
But I have flashed darky before. I had 9.5 first. How can I get these problems off? Do I just have to flash JVH and then 10.1?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Oh. Now I got it. Yes I need to flash JVH... But I got new problem... I can't get to recovery. When I try to boot from recovery, it just boots, freezes with odd color mess and does nothing. When I press power button it powers up phone and won't go to recovery. And no I don't have CVM but it haven't been problem before..
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
By CVM I meant clockworkmod app
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I downloaded CWM still it doesn't launch recovery... And yes I know darkymod and cwm recoveries are the same

This rom is amazing!
One major bug though : phone soft reboots if wifi is turned on and you turn off the screen. Tried changing the wifi sleep policy to never but it still rebooted.
Other bug: GPS still doesn't work for me even after renaming angrygps.APk to angrygps.Bak
I appreciate your effort porting the rom im going to try reflashing to see if that fixes it!
and wow youre 13? great job thats impressive! =]
P.S. setting screen density to 182 looks incredible!

hmmm......I cant seem to reproduce what you're saying.
Remember: if you are having problems, did you
1.wipe cache?
2.wipe dalvik?
3.wipe data?
About Phone still says I9000XXJVP instead of JVQ

maybe its a bad flash cuz now its randomly soft rebooting even with wifi off.
I was on Bi-Winning with voodoo enabled
ODINd simply honey with repartition checked to cancel out the voodoo.
wiped all three of those
flashed this rom
titanium backup for user apps only
ill wipe and reflash again cuz this rom is just too nice!
EDIT: wiped and reflashed still the same thing, maybe its my phone...ill try a different rom and see what happens then flash back to this one and see where the issue lies

The kernel is JVP. The rom itself is JVQ. Its like using a KA6 kernel on a kb1 rom.
Is this rom better then the revolution rom, in speed and stability? I heard that jvq is a huge improvement to jvp, but its still using the jvp kernel.

I never flashed Revolution but on my phone is much better then Simply Honey and Asgard.
Hmmm...... I gonna try and see if flashing full JVQ through odin without booloaders then flashing this after would fix some problems.

Hi all!!
I've got a serious worrying problem with my wifi since yesterday!
Last night my sgs froze, so I did a restart, but when it came back ok I had to turn on my wifi so as to get my emails!
I turned it on but after it didn't find my "saved" network, I got into settings to check what is going on and it was deactivated, I reactivated and saw it scanning but after 5-10 secs it said "Unable to scan networks" and it deactivated again!!
I tried to restore a CWM backup I had but problem remains!
Any ideas? Please help because otherwise I'll have to get it back to SAMSUNG with all the delay you are aware of!
EDIT: Just fixed it by deleting twice the file /data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf and rebooting the phone!!!! Found it after googling for hours!!

Flash a Semaphore kernel designed for ics. See http://www.semaphore.gr/homepage/semaphore-ics which also has links to xda-developers.

I downloaded Semaphore_ICS_1.3.0. That's all i need, right ?
Just choose this file on PDA and flash ?
EDIT: I already did that and worked.
Only 1 thing: after flashing, i had to push the power button to start ... didn't had to reboot after flash ?

Semaphore 1.3.0 is the one you need. You can flash it through Clockworkmod recovery, its the easiest way. Don't forget to wipe cache and dalvyk cache before flashing a new kernel. Besides semaphore you could also try devils kernel 1.0.3. It is more performance oriented. Flash the one you like. The only thing I don't like about semaphore 1.3.0 is that wifi tethering doesn't work.
Reboot after flashing is crucial, but if you have the new semaphore configuration app, you did it right! Just reboot one more time to be sure everything works alright.

Knowing I am being offtopic: Whats your battery like on cm7?
Cause with cm9 and semaphore you shouldn't have had a huge drain...

On CM7, the battery life is good (1,2 days). On CM9 it sucks... i had to recharge after 15-16 hours max, everytime.

Hi, I am having an issue with my galaxy note, I was running a custom rom checkrom v5. However, I wanted to unroot it due to some reasons. So I uprooted it by flashing a stock rom via Odin and after that, Odin stated "Pass". But my phone won't boot at all after that! I tried to access the download mode and recovery mode but nothing happens! The phone is as if it's dead. May I know why does this happen? Thanks!

remove the battery and then put it back. Hold the power button for about a minute or until the GALAXY NOTE logo shows up.

either way, I could come one possible scenario why your phone would not boot up after... it might be entirely the kernel your using or your trying to flash...either way, it's like this.... I'm thinking you did not flash a ROM itself but the kernel only... when you tried flashing your stock running GB Note, you flash a custom ICS kernel...that's the only conclusion I can derive why your phone would not boot up anymore. What was the name of that custom ICS kernel your using? If you tried HydraCore..I guess NoteCore or Hydra supports GB (i'm not totally sure on this though), All other custom ICS kernels (SpeedMod and etc) will not work... you'll just bork your phone, making it a dead one. There is a guide from Doc Ketan on how to safely and correctly try to unroot your phone.. have you tried that process before??
now, your phone, might be in a deep sleep mode process right now,,, you need to try charging for a longer time and while charging, just attempt to power it on again....
if you can't still can't turn your phone on... then yeah right, the JIG is the only recourse you have to wake your phone up from it's deep slumber.
Does the phone charge? Let it charge for a while.

Actually I did flash an ICS kernel when i installed cyanogenmod 9. But however, I restored back to my first rom, checkrom v5 running gingerbread to retrieve some data before I installed a stock version of the rom. When I restored back, I followed a tutorial from this guy in YouTube called cursed4eva. I believe that he also got the tutorial from Dr Ketan's thread and did a video tutorial on it.
