If anybody can help me, I would be very grateful, I'm totally stuck at this point. I think I am having problem with the boot image.
I just tried to flash Revolt Rom 1.3. I previously had Revolt 1.1 and decrapified before that.
I followed the same procedure as before, but cannot get my phone to boot. I just get LG screen > splash screen > Verizon 4G LTE Screen > backlit blank screen and pulsed vibration.
I can get into clockwork mod and see my backups. I tried to flash backups, Revolt ROM 1.1, and Decrapified several times to no avail.
Here is my step by step using decrapified
1) Hold down volume and power (I get permanently Erase Screen)
2) Confirm twice ( I get lg screen then clockwork mod)
3) go to back up and restore > advanced restore > revo_decrap-1.1 > restore system > yes- Restore system
***Sometimes I just get "restore complete!" Sometimes I get "error while flashing boot" But restore seems to go normally***
4) Go to advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache > Confirm wipe Dalvik Cache (I get Dalvik Cache wiped)
5)+++++Go back+++++ > Reboot System Now ( I get same problem)
Any help is much appreciated!!!

Try to use a full recovery from before you flashed the newest update. That will have the full everything including the old boot.img that was working for you. After that reflash the ROM you want as system and everything should be perfect.
Hope this helped.

Thanks for the help. I'm assuming you mean just restore? Not advanced restore of any kind?
I just tried "backup and restore > restore > choose a date > confirm" but unfortunately it didn't help. There were no errors in the restore process. I'll try again with an earlier backup( I have 3 total)
Anything else I could try?
Thanks,

I just did the same process with an earlier backup (decrapified) and it worked! Not sure what I did differently....but it worked!
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it, I was getting very worried...

Any time dude. Also, I try to keep myself in the habit of backing up before flashing a new ROM and then a few days after installing the new one back up that one. I have a folder on my computer with older versions and I keep a few on my phone as well. I have had to lose a few days before and I hated having to change everything backto how I had it and stuff. I'm stoked I could help you out though.
Hmmm, there still seems to be an issue. I was able to recover to a backup of decrapified. Everything looked good. Then I tried to reflash Revolt1.1, which I had before. I get the blank backlit screen with vibration pulses.
Another clue might be that I only get the 4G "jingle" with the backed up version. Other times it is silent during bootup.
Very strange....any ideas anyone?
I hope I'm not stuck with decrapified-1.1 for ever! I was having problems with the pushed update basically causing the same blank backlit screen with pulse issue. Next I'm going to try the stock rooted rom provided by thecube. Then bed...
mobiusnc
I was able to get the rooted stock ROM to work using just "restore", not "advanced restore > system". It does not work using the latter. At least it's a start.
Is there a difference in the boot images between ROMs? I'm guessing yes. If so, could somebody create a boot image for Revolt 1.3? I'd love to try and see if I can get it to work using regular "restore" with a boot image.
mobiusnc
No ROMs other than stock have a boot.img yet. You just have to have the 2 files for the ROM in a folder and then adv restore them to system. If you can get into one of the Revolt ROMs the OTA will no longer be pushed to your phone and I believe you will have it without losing root. Not 100% on that though.
The jingle was cut from Revolt to shave down the size of the install.

Me too
I run into this problem with mine every few days. I am able to get up and running by restoring a backup... but that gets annoying. I also returned my first Revolution to Verizon because of this issue. So far I haven't figured out what's causing it. It usually happens when the phone is just sitting in standby minding its own business, then spontaneously reboots to the blank screen. I'll keep experimenting.

the first time i pulled the battery after about 5 minutes and rebooted into what appeared to be a partial restore, but the home button didnt work and i powered down before it finished synching my settings. Im on my second attempt, sitting at the same place and its been close to 10 minutes, is this normal or should i just try pulling the battery again and reflashing the rom altogether? I wiped the first time even though my searching said it wasnt necessary, no wipe the second time. here are my unhelpful search results:

Doesn't sound too good i'm afraid & I am of little help either as I too am new to Android ROM flashing - but rather, as a help to others, can you state what type & version of recovery you are using (ClockWorkMod / amon_ra), what Nexus you have (AMOLED / SLCD), whether you have the phone connected over USB when backing up / restoring, android version backed up, what charge level you had etc.
I believe all of these elements can affect your results in one way or another.
e.g, I believe for SLCD, you require amon_ra v1.8.0.1 & some people have reported issues if performing the operations while connected to USB.
Good luck & let us know how you get on.
Steve.
thanks, i ended up just reflashing the rom because restore kept freezing. I remember usb was not plugged in during backup, it may have been during the first restore, i dont recall, but it was definitely not plugged in the second time. Im just glad no serious damage was done though, i guess i just wont do nandroid anymore ill stick with the rom manager backup method. Im using clockwork recovery

The backup/restore function in Clockwork is the same as what you get in ROM Manager.
I had a restore freeze on me too, during the data segment. Same thing happened twice. Here's what I did to fix it:
1) Booted into Clockwork
2) Wiped cache and data
3) Went into the nandroid menu, "Advanced" restore
4) Restored the data partition *only* - this succeeded where other restores had failed
5) Restored each remaining partition individually as well, also from the Advanced menu
6) Booted up and everything was fine

I've run into a similar hangup before running Clockwork, and fixed it pretty much the same way you did. I've since gone back to Amon's recovery, as its nandroid functions seem to be more reliable.
Hi guys. Yesterday night I was installing a few new apps but the seemed to be stuck installing forever. So I decided to reboot. However, after the reboot, it never goes past the second boot screen.
I know I can just flash to another rom but is there a way to save my data in the instance? I can still get into recovery mode if that helps. Thanks
I've read you can hook up to your pc and mount your sdcard from cwm. Never tried it but if it works you can save your data that way then maybe a master clear/cache or dalvik wipe will help.

You can mount USB in recovery and get all your stuff off of your SD that way. You can also nandroid your current ROM in CWM and re-flash it, then restore from backup. As far as saving texts and all that, Idk if you can, but I'm sure someone else does.
Also, you could try clearing dalvik, cache, and then running the kernel cleaning script. It's gotten me out of a few binds before. It might help you to where you wouldn't have to flash again.

Then ROM Manager is clearly the issue. That link gets you to box stock software. I'm not a fan of RM because I feel that unless 110% understood, it can cause way more headaches than it fixes. What do you use it for? What changes did you make after flashing to stock?
used rom manager to change battery icon 3g icon signal icon and the notification bar backround
I don't think that MavROM is compatible with Rom Manager tweaks. I believe that they only work with CM based ROMs. Try reflashing to stock, rerooting, and reROMing it. Don't make the changes and see if the issues persist.
i tried reflashing to stock like 10 times and it never fully goes back to stock
How about going to cwm through odin and deleting your catch data and your delv catch. I had the same issue when reverting back to stock ( it wasnt fully there) but when i erased all the data and delv catch it reverted to the stock rom properly. Just a thought

Well, the previous is strange, because I've used that to recover from all different causes of bricks and bootloops and reboots and etc. All took me back to box stock software...
Anyways, I would flash back to stock-ish with it, re-root, install CWM, boot into recovery, and then wipe /system /data /cache /dalvik cache.
Using X + Power then VOL Up + Down, you can get into stock recovery and wipe data and cache. This puzzles me though, because that quick SBF wipes data, system, and cache.
Just for my curiosity, what ISN'T stock after the quick unbrick method?

Are you sure you have the latest drivers installed? Head over to that thread one more time, re-download the quick unbrick, boot up with M + Power, select AP Fastboot, open the shortcut for "CLICK HERE - Something something something", allow it to go through it's 20 or so lines of actions, and when it says to press any key to exit, do so. Now just let the phone sit there while still plugged in (IIRC, this is what I did last time). If this all fails to return you to stock settings... 1. I'll be surprised 2. I'll nand backup mine and make a video for you of quick unbricking mine and everything it does.
If it does work, please don't change things in ROM Manager, IIRC, those tweaks are only for CM based ROMs, and not Mav.
Hello,
I attempted to flash Trickdroid on my Sprint HTC one. I went through all the steps in the Aroma installer and it froze on 10%. I did rebooted back into recovery, did a full wipe attempted restore one of the two nandroid backups I made. After the restore, I would get a blank screen. All that was there was the Status bar. The phone would then reboot. I rebooted into recovery, did restore and cache wipe, and was able to install trickdroid. Now I am experiencing the same issue, a blank screen with just the status bar at the top, then it reboots itself. Is there a way I can fix this?? I'm stumped
Does anyone think this could be a kernel issue? I think it's strange that it would be booting to a blank screen after a nandroid restore. I noticed when I tried reinstalling trickdroid, it gave me an error when installing the kernel. I'm currently downloading a different ROM to try side loading in ADB, I'm also fine with going back to stock, but everyone is saying the stock RUU's arent available. Any help is appreciated. I hope I didn't just brick my new phone.
Here is what my screen looks like when I boot. It only shows reception bars, time and battery %. Everything else is black and it reboots as soon as the screen times out. This is after re-installing trickdroid. If I factory reset, it will show the lock screen but as soon as I unlock or let it sit it will bootloop. If I try to do a nandroid recovery, it does the same thing, but I am able to get to the drop down and go to settings. It will then reboot itself after about a minute.

1. tried nandroid backup one
2. tried nandroid backup two
2. erase cache, factory rest-blank screen
3. tried reinstalling trickdroid-blank screen,
4. erase cache, factory reset-side load android revolutrion- AROMA freezes
5 had to reflash recovery because couldn't access even after fastboot erase cache
6. adb sideloaded Android revolution, after install phone got stuck in fastboot,
7. tried erase cache, still stuck in fastboot. Won't boot into anything else...
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OR CONFIRM I AM ON THE RIGHT TRACK!!!!!!!
Even though both trickdroid and android revolution both say all phone variants are supported, apparently this doesn't mean sprint There is an entire section for Sprint HTC one. For anyone else who has this issue, the RUU was found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904&highlight=ruu . I am up an running again! For all of you who replied, thanks for the help through this mini crisis I just had I guess that's what I get for being a XDA member for 3 years and never submitting a single post.
Rooted, Bootloader unlocked, TWRP installed, Xposed Running. 5.0 - I did not yet update or press update ever, If I have ever accidentally allowed it to begin downloading I kill the download by deleting the file using SDMaid.
I got home, had problems with other devices, phone was on about 40% at this point. I remember hearing the phone reboot, I noticed it went into TWRP, which was strange, I restarted system > powered up > lockscreen > restart to twrp with no interaction. Phone is now getting low 21%ish. Fix permissions - because used to be the all out fix on my other devices.
Same thing again > straight into twrp.
I notice that some scripts have been ran in the twrp console. Something along the lines of Victara_en_US.zip Some red scripts I assume saying failed to update.
I assume the phone is now too low to power up.
It shows no sign of charging since leaving the last twrp reboot.
Green light in top speaker shows when attempting to power up with usb charger plugged in > nothing else happens.
With charger unplugged from phone I see my modified logo screen and the moto planet spinning before phone turns off completely. This process now repeats.
Anyone have any idea what the hell is wrong with my phone?

Get your phone into TWRP and connect it to your charger and let it charge to at least 70% Use Advanced Wipe in TWRP, select Cache and wipe that. Then see if your phone will start normally. Somehow you have downloaded the update file and it is trying to run automatically. Since your phone is modified, the update fails (and nothing is updated or changed.) The update file is in /cache so wiping that should correct the problem. You should go ahead and update to the Stagefright patched version of your ROM so you aren't having to deny the factory update all the time.

Phone still boots to a black screen. I don't understand why it would download the update let alone attempt to install it, I religiously deny the update. Also why would it have booted up normally then forced itself into TWRP? :S
What can I next? I dont mind wiping using fastboot as I managed to take all my files off the phone via twrp.
This happened to me a couple times but wiping the cache AND the dalvik cache fixed it. If it still doesn't work, I hope you have a backup because you are going to have to wipe the system and data next. Sometimes these updates like to link themselves to all the phone's partitions, and in that case you should wipe everything and restore your full system and data backup in recovery.

Yes, you can, just make sure you have the right file for the job. They are usually about 2 gigs, and they take forever to flash. Note that once you flash the file, your phone will be as if you just bought it from the store, but it always will boot if you have the corresponding build.

In TWRP, make a backup now even though it may not be useful depending on what the problem is. Then, use advanced wipe in TWRP and wipe data. If the phone will boot now, something got corrupted in data and you'll just need to set your phone up again. If the problem continues, you'll have to flash your system image. How to do this varies with the model of your phone; some models have TWRP images, others need to use fastboot files. After you flash the new system image, you can either just continue to clean setup the phone, or you can try to restore only data from the backup you made previously.

Thank you for your help, as well as anyone else who helped me. I now have a running phone on 5.1.
How do I gain root from here? My superuser app updated and now tells me I have no binary, despite telling me to flash something only 5 minutes prior.

So you don't have root? I would suggest rooting using towelroot. Go online and search "towelroot" click on the first result, click on the lambda to download the apk, and install it. You can then open the app, and press "make it ra1n" to root your device without any reboot needed.
I had root prior to wiping and installing the 5.1 update that was linked to me. Towelroot gives me the phone not supported message.

Towel root does not work in 5.1.
To root just flash TWRP. Start TWRP. When you exit TWRP it will ask you if you want to root it. Simple.

As in you can't get it to fastboot?
I left it to charge for a while, then took about 5 minutes attempting the power button volume button combo to restart and get it into fastboot.
I believe that it's something like:
Power + vol down until the phone screen flashes/green light goes off
Then
Still holding the power and volume down
Hold the vol up too
Then release the power still holding the vol up and down.
That's what worked for me. It's literally the most awkward phone I've had go button combos.
I think vol up from powered off works too.
If you mess up just hold the power and vol down again.
