Is there a way to change the bluetooth voice dialer to load voice search instead? I've seen post and threads on it from over a year ago but no progress since then. I was thinking about maybe just creating a symbolic link to the voice search apk and deleting the voice dialer. What do you guys think?

Does anybody know of a voice dialer software out there better than the one Google put out? If not, can someone PLEASE develop one? These things are supposed to be used in conjunction with a bluetooth headset and are supposed to avoid user input because of traffic laws yet the one Google put out prompts the user every time!
Isn't the bluetooth function coming in donut?
What do you mean "the bluetooth function"? Cupcake has full bluetooth capability and the voice dialer technically works with the voice dialer, just not even remotely well enough.
In reference to what your asking. Using your bluetooth to start voice dialing.
That's available right now. I can press the button on my headset to activate voice dialing. It works about 80% of the time. The problem is with the voice dialer application itself. Simply put: it sucks balls.
Does anyone know if the Quick Search Box's voice dialing feature is replacing the actual voice dialer? The teaser video for 1.6 shows it working well (ie figuring out WHO you want to call and doing it automatically without user input) but I also noted a voice dialer icon in the video and technically they pressed a button on the Quick Search Box to activate it. I'm wondering if that can be activated with a BT headset.

I hope so - i've been waiting (im)patiently for voice dial in the UK for a loooooong time
I love the way you have to put on an American accent to get the google voice dialer to work
Call home
English English - "Cawl hoeme" = random results
US english - "kahl hom" = call home
Rubbish
I had to rename the girlf in my phone to "love of my life" which works well. "K" offered me to call "Ed"... So its not great really. Voice search in google seems accurate though.
Direct dial shortcuts ftw. They actually require one less click than trying to voice dial.
BT headset voice dialling would be great though.
Real voice dialing for Android please! It's ridiculous how a 3 year old Windows Mobile device can have 100X better voice dialing...
I could have sworn I had voice dialer, (non-BT)
I think it was on perception 10.x
Now on Serendipity and cant for the life of me find the app. Is there a separate apk I can install ?
I used to be able to press a button and say "call robyn" and it would find it in the contacts and call.

Thanks
Long press Search.
That doesn't seem to be it. Long press search brings up google voice search.
If it is then it used to be different. Right now if I say, "call mom" it just brings up web search for call mom, and not look in my contacts.
The screen used to look like voice search, but I remember it had additional text instructions.
Thanks for helping though mike.
Update: I found a video of the app.

I hope someone knows what it's called I searched app market with no luck.
voice dialer is built into stock 2.1 and 2.2 and most custom roms, also not to be confused with google voice search(2.2 only - mike).
It's in the kitchen now.
Sent from my Captivate.
Unless she is in your contacts as "Mom" it won't find it and will default to a Google search. I use Vlingo as it works better and all I have to do is say "Call so-and-so at home" and it goes to dialing with no other input from me. Works over BT also.

WHere is the voice dialer? How do you accesss it?
Can anyone recomend an offline (I mean without connecting to Google Voice) application for voice dialing. I believe starting from Android 2.2 it is supported.
I've just installed NAND HDFI rom by gauner1986 if it is relevant.
I am looking for an application where I just press button on my bluetooth headset and say the contact name to dial. If the app can read aloud new SMSs and emails it's even better .
I actually found an application Choice Dialer Plus which does the dial via bluetooth with one problem though. I cannot launch the app with my bluetooth handset button. I have to touch the phone to launch the app and then will give command to dial.
I know my handset works alright as I just upgraded from WM6.5 where I had Microsoft voice commander.
It looks I am missing something in the android.
Do I need another application which can listen to the handset or I need something else installed to the android?

You can try my app. It works offline. Application is named VoiceButton. You can find it in GooglePlay.
I think this is what you need.

Thank you, Denis.
My question was from 2011, LOL.
I don't have the HD2 anymore but thank you anyway.
I am either blind, an idiot, or both. I want to use my g tablet with Google voice to look @ my SMS inbox and send SMS while on wifi. It would be nice to almost, if possible, send messages n a queue of sorts then once wifi is available have them sent. Bugatti this point it would just be nice to be able to use Google voice for SMS on this.
I already use GV for SMS on mine. Are you having trouble installing, or are your messages just not getting sent?
I am not having any issues with this running Vegan 5.1.
Would using the web version of google voice solve the issue for ya?
I already have google voice installed but it hangs up during the skip setting up voicemail part.. i choose i do not want to use google voice for making calls etc, and also tried all the other options as well so in case there was something weird about it not liking me choose do not use google voice for calls or what not.
do eother oneof you have a link to the GV app you installed where I could try that instead? I also am having a hard time finding in the market other apps as well. nother topic for another day.
I ran into the same thing when I was trying out Vegan. I never solved it myself since I decided to stick with Calkulin's ROM, but they seem to have figured it out in this thread:

Check this thread. I used the second DL from the guy's Dropbox/

I had multiple galaxy notes in the past and every time I use the microphone feature I am able to use Google Voice typing but on the note 7 I am forced to use S voice typing. I have searched every single option to try to remove the s voice typing feature and replace it with google voice typing but no luck. Is anyone else having the same problem or perhaps found the solution to this issue.
Thanks
