Hi..I already search the entire [Q] thread. BUT did not found answer to my question.
My question is there any software or tweak to enable zoom option in our beloved SGT Camera??
Or is it a hardware limitation?
Thanks in advance guys for the answer.
It has no mechanical/optical zoom so you'd be better off just taking the picture and then cropping the result.
That pretty much is what i do.

Hi all
I have both an Artemis and Kaiser.... And both are great little devices...
But in the most recent wm6.5 rom by Shaddy for the Artemis, Zoom has now been enabled for 2 Megapix where as it was never available for anything above 1megapix.
So my questions is this is it possible to enable it for 3megapix on the Kaiser???

Anyway have had a quick play and all seems well..looks better then 5.04 but you loose sports mode and multi shot, but I never used them anyway so not to bothered. For me improvements seem to be in image quality and big part ZOOM in all resolutions and in all modes!!!! Will play tomorrow when out in the mountains and report back

thanks mate
As promised a quick write up for the camera App/driver.
So far the app has performed well. But seem's a little slower at taking the photo's and there's not real auto focus. It sort of tries to but that's about it. The Zoom works well(only x2) and the photos are ok but have seen better. Overall image quality is a little better than previous. But nothing to write home about...
Is it worth installing????? Well that depends on you... All you gain is Zoom, but you loose, Sports mode, multi shot mode, 2nd camera access, and auto focus... For me you you loose to much so have reverted back....
Ideally I would like an app that provides all the original features including zoom, though I can live with out multi or sports modes but need to have gps, normal, panoramic, auto focus and 2nd camera modes,..
Does anyone know of a drive/app that can do this???
Hello there,
I'm pretty new to all this and the P880 is my first Android device.
Does anyone here know if there is an app that allows you to take photos like the normal photo app but saves the raw data from the image sensor? I had such an app for my previous device, the Nokia N900 and really like to play around with raw images ...
many thanks in advance

I don't think this is possible. Just did a quick google:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4514862/android-impossible-to-obtain-raw-image-data-from-camera
Maybe you can ask the the CyanogenMod team if it's possible at all and somebody is interested to look into this... However it would need root then.

thanks for your reply domenukk. Too bad its not possible. These latest BSI sensors really offer much regarding dynamic range but the jpeg compressin makes it impossible to exploid it

Well most current phones feature a HDR mode, so at some point they seem to have access to the data. Probably just needs some hack...

I would love to have that Jelly bean cam app it's the best software to zoom in and out, most cam apps it's pain in the ass to zoom in and out.
wrong thread delete it pls
Guys, I just tried Snap Camera, and i found out that the video recording is really brighter when recording on Snap Camera compared to Sony's Stock Application. ALSO,on Snap Camera, i can tap on screen to change focus while recording video, which is something that I am not allowed to do when I use Stock App.
This means that our device(z3 compact) IS CAPABLE of using Touch to Focus while video recording. Is there any way to activate/enable/make use of this feature on Sony's Stock Application?!
Thanks in advance.

Yes of course !
Decompile the stock camera app and code it in yourself.
100% serious answer: judging from your question, no.

seriously that's a shame...Even my old S4 mini could do it, why doesn't Sony want to do so....

Is it possible for developers @mkdmc to do something like this? I mean, since they're making mods, they might know how to tweak the stock app camera to achieve it!

Like I said... It'll be faster if you code it yourself. I know everyone here can do that since it's XDA- ""developers"" after all.
Whether he wants to mod it or not is a different question, better to ask him yourself.

Thought you made a typo ( can - instead of can't) and that's why I didn't catch it. Message sent. Hope he replies!
The question is: Is there a high request of this feature or not? I myself don't have a problem not having that focus, as for real recordings, I better use my "real" camera / camcorder instead of the phone.
@kwstas 13
Thanks for your suggestions. I'll add it to cyberian road map
Hey guys I'm wondering if anyone has found out how to get selective focus on the note8? I enjoyed it on the s8+ and frankly the note8 live focus isn't the best. Anyone found anything?

Google camera still supports it. Look at the Google camera thread
Everybody just want to copy iPhone these days and do portrait mode instead. Not sure why they don't stand firm on what they created.

Hi. I am interested in getting this phone.. But most of the camera tests I see online, the images are too dark. Also, strangely, although images are generally underexposed, they still somehow manage to blow out highlights sometimes.
I am very impressed with the camera quality apart from the issues stated above, but surely they are software issues and can be fixed with a patch or alternative camera app?
Thanks

Everything can be fixed and by far improved using the GCam. Search the thread for examples.
Thanks
I saw some pictures but they didn't seem hugely better to me.
Plus most apps need a root to install?
I wouldnt wan't to buy a phone and risk installing an app and then can't send it back if I'm not happy.
Do you know a link for some good picture and video samples?
Thanks

Nice images thanks.
There was one where the Stock camera was better I think.
But all the others the Gcam looked quite a lot better.
And does the Gcam also give better video recording?
