So, it seems that apps see the the internal SD card as it's default storage... So when I moved my SD card from my old phone to the LG Revolution, app can't find their data because they are looking for it in the internal SD card instead of the one I inserted into the phone.
Is there any solution for this?
Do you have root? If so you can use root explorer to move them from external to internal

Yeah, I was able to root.
Well see, my external SD card is 32GB and that's where I want all my podcasts and photos to go but apps want to put everything on the internal SD.
I'm not sure I'm getting what you want to do with root explorer you should be able to move whatever you want between the two

I don't want to have to move stuff over. I have all my podcasts on my external SD card but my podcast player doesn't see them because the podcast player is looking for them in the internal SD card.
I was hoping there was a way to make the external SD card the default storage for the phone.
I am not sure what the point of using an external SD card if apps aren't programmed to use it.

I use a 32GB class 10 micor SD. I tried to transfer the isntalled apps from phone to the external SD using "App 2 SD". I note that the apps were actually moved to the internal SD card but not the external SD. The photos and the video can be saved to the exteranl SD though.
I am new user of Android phones. Did I do anything wrong or app just can't be saved in external SD?
the internal sd is your external sd for app2sd.
earlier phones didnt have an internal sd. so there it was written on the external.
maybe you could reroute the paths. but for an normal user this could be hard.
So I think all phone with intwrnal SD Card has the same poblem.
Can the problem be solved when upgraded to 2.3?

Jup, all phones with an internal sd have this probs afaik.
but you can change the paths, so the external card becomes the internal.
i dont know how the paths are routed in gingerbread, but it should be tha same.
if you want to change this search in the dev section, there is a description.
I am so frustrated with the fact I can't store system/user info on my external sdcard and constantly have to play mediator between my internal storage and the internal sd. Is there something to remedy this yet and I just missed it? Or is it something I just need to deal with?

I don't know if will help you any, but with dolphin browser, your able to change your download directory and change it to your external SD card. I know this won't totally solve your problem, but at least you won't have to move your downloads (for me, this was a big issue because my downloads were filling up my internal storage).
I don't know why some things aren't set up to save them to your external SD card automatically because you get more storage there that really doesn't get used unless you manually put something there.
I believe Motorola should have set up the name for the external SD card as sdcard and the internal SD card as sdcard-int instead of external being sdcard-ext and internal being sdcard. I believe the cause of the issue is because android by default uses the sdcard directory and in this case, that's internal storage and on other devices, the sdcard directory is the actual SD card.
Later on, I may go into safe mode and try switching the directory names around and see if things will still work.

If you do, let us know, that would be fantastic to fix that!
This seems like the sort of thing a ROM could fix.
With some things, you can go into android options under storage and go to media sync and change that to external SD card and it will save some things on the SD card.

Hello I am new to this site and new to android in general. First, some info on my phone.
_ Unlocked bootloader
-Rooted
-ICS 4.0.3
-32gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card with 2 primary partitions
I am having trouble moving anything to my SD card via the phone. When I go to the app menu and try to move an app I only get the option to "Move to Phone Storage." I have searched on google and everyone just makes mention to use a program like link2sd. I've tried using that, and even after creating symbiotic link the apps still only move to phone storage. The program says they are on SD card, but my SD card data usage says otherwise.
My phone does acknowledge the presence of an SD card in the Settings > Storage menu. I am unable to view the contents of the SD card on any of the file explorers either, when I click the SD card all I see are the contents of phone storage. I am able to view and open contents of the SD card by using root explorer under the sdcard2 directory. If I transfer music and photos to the SD card from my PC I can access them with the appropriate widgets on my phone.
So to simplify my post: Is there any way to move an app to the SD card with this device / ICS? The actual external SD card, not the internal phone storage.
Thank you.
I'm not 100% but... In wcx recovery... I think there is an option to switch internal/external storage...
Maybe someone has tried it?

Titanium Backup does this really well. You can do a batch operation to move all user apps to external SD.

Doesn't Astro File Manager do basically the same thing?
Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way to make ext sd card the default one and not the internal sd card? Cause right now, I can't restore certain backups from previous phones as the various apps wont detect. It can only search the internal storage, and is unable to search the storage in the external sd card.
Any app or setting that can do this?
Thank you!
An app like ROM Toolbox should let you browse to the ext sd card to choose a backup. Am I understanding your question correctly?

Hmm, not really actually. An example would be Whatsapp. It backs up to my sd card in my old phone. However, after switching to Droid 4, I can't restore the messages because now it backs up to the internal sd card and not the ext-sd card.
The 8 Gb limit is a problem for apps that can't be moved to external SD card. Could somebody try to move Evernote to external card and see if the data can be located to it. It should be possible with the drawback that the widget doesn't work anymore.
Thanks/vox

As far as I know, it is NOT possible to move any applications to SD card without being rooted. Have you rooted your phone?
Even with root, I guess you can only do it using Link2SD to a second partition on your SD card.
Ok, thanks. I thought Evernote might be able to store notes on external SD card - but it does not.
You can store data on external sd card

I think that you can do it. Just move evernotes files from Internal Memory/Android to SDCard/Android.
Then, using folder mount (search play store) simply mount the folder on external card as a folder on internal card.
As far as I think root is required.
