I'm going to assume you're on the stock firmware for your VZW tab from your signature.. From what I know you shouldn't have to mess with the bootloaders to get your Tab rooted. You can purchase the VZW bootstrapper app in the market to get rooted froyo, or you can check the development section for OldMacNut's VZW Gingerbread leak that is rooted. So just depends on what you want to do with your Tab. SuperOneClick should also work if you just want to root the stock froyo setup.

Thanks, yes it is a stock verizon gtab, my ultimate goal is to upgrade to gingerbread, thank you for the info

Looking at your user info, I'm guessing you have a verizon CDMA tab. The CDMA tabs are a little trickier to root than the GSM ones I believe.
Your best bet is to flash a pre-rooted ROM. As they are already rooted, all you have to do it setup odin/heimdall/ROM_manager. That is what I did with my sprint CDMA tab. There should be plenty of rooted ROM's to pick from.
good luck

is there one that is 100% stock
You simply flash a rooted gingerbread kernel. Find Chainfire's CF-Root v3.3 kernel. You flash it through odin.
Thats for gsm i need cdma vzw

FUUUUUUU
I thought there might a reason why that particular instruction was removed from all the threads. Dang it.
Is there any advantage to running CM7 on the GB bootloader? Or should I just leave my phone as it is?

What is the advantage of Gingerbread bootloaders?
Better battery life for most users.
I would definitely recommend upgrading to Gingerbread bootloaders on CM7. There was a noitceable improvement for me.

Thanks again. Just one more question: how to flash? I have a first GB 2.3.4 for CDMA (ported from GB Sprint, I believe so) flashed with Heimdall but there is no correct CWR installed. Should I install Galaxy Cubed 3 or similar ROM first? Or how to install this ROM using Heimdall? Sorry but I can't find the answer on the forum mentioned above....
I've asked some people about how to flash this with no help. And as you can see no one really cares to much about the VZW SGT, well the SCH-I800 anyways. Rite now i'm happy with just having root.

[Q] question

I recently came back from my xperia play which broke and I have a question
1) Does the droid have an unlocked bootloader?
Yes, the Droids have.
so I can cm7 or an ICS rom w/o a problem?
Sent from my Droid using xda app-developers app
I have a Milestone, so i've never used a Droid, but i'm sure you will find a plenty of tutorial about how to install custom recovery and flash roms.
Only flash roms from the Droid forum.

Yes you can flash CM 7 without a problem check out this guide that will tell you how to root your Droid 1 if you haven't already and how to install the latest 7.2 Stable version of Cyanogenmod and google apps (Here is the latest gingerbread ones). For now I would stay away from any ICS ROM's for the Droid 1 while it's nice to see ICS running on our phone they aren't really meant as daily drivers, and don't have everything working correctly.
How do I get CWM?
