Microphone DIES in the middle of a call! - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is an extremely annoying issue! 95% of calls are "dropped" because people suddenly can't hear me anymore! I can hear them, but after a few seconds they cant hear me... Anyone else having the same issue? Any possible fix perhaps? I haven't found a single reference anywhere.
Also, would this be a modem related issue? Maybe flashing another one would help? If not the modem, what then?
I have a rooted captivate with stock froyo. I've been through the cognition froyo kernel, speedmod and overstock. I also know that the problem stands in cognition 4. The problem has been there since purchase. I bought it from ebay and do not live in the States, so going through AT&T is not an option.
Thanks in advance!

I've recently started having this as well intermittently after about 5 minutes on a call.
I'm on Mosaic V, Jk4 modem, was also happening with Kc1. I just updated to DC 3.0 kernel last night, so we'll see.
Personally I'm thinking AT$T is 'upgrading' the network, but is pretty annoying issue.

Thanks for the reply! I'm from South America... no AT&T here... I believe it must be Captivate related... Anyone else having this issue?

Since u r running a stock, rooted froyo... u could try the latest i897 modem, KF1.
I know it is from the leaked i897uckf1 gingerbread firmware, but u could give it a try. Other than that it may be ur network or a hardware issue.

Happens to me quite a bit. Took me a while to realise the screen wasn't sleeping and my face was pressing the mute button
So now when three other person starts saying "hello?" I always check my screen...always muted.
Maybe your issue, maybe not. Good luck!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

I'll try other modems, but somehow I don't think that'll do it...
And I'll keep an eye out on the mute thing, although that can't be it either, since it happens while I'm on speaker as well... I used to try using the speaker and keeping the screen alive and it would still happen...
Anyone else?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

In case anyone might ever find this info useful, Cognition 5 v2 fixed this. I am now on the ICS rom from team ICSSGS and the problem remains gone. It was probably the modem in the different roms that did it...

try another kernel or phone.apk, i dont think it's modems problem

Can't slide the notification bar

Sometimes (not very often) it happend that I can't slide the notification bar.
It stop sliding and I can see only a little piece of it.
There are no lags or something else, only this problem.
Do you know how to fix this problem?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Only fix is restarting your phone. I had the same issue. I reckon you are using froyo?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yes, the JPM which is to me a great firmware very fast and with less lag than every other firm I ever tried
grrr me too.

I had this problem after installing Skype. Deleted it and the problem went away.

I'm stuck..please please help.

So I mistakenly installed the i9000 voodoo lagfix kernal.......problem is.no voice calls on my phone. I'll tell what state my phone is currently in, and where i'd like to be, and any help i can get would be greatly appreciated.
Current State:
Firmware Version 2.2
Baseband Version I897UCKB1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
Build number Froyo.UCKB1
Phone build 1006
rooted/shell rooted/market enabled with SuperOneClick
I disabled the voodoo lagfix but still have the I9000 kernel apparently (splash screen and no voice calls)
Where I want to be:
Stock Froyo
Rooted (which I know how to do)
Voodoo Lagfix built on captivate kernel, not I900 (because I like to talk on my phone)
That's all I want. Odin1click seems to not want to work for me anymore, unless I'm apparently doing something wrong in my method of operation.
I cannot seem to find a stock Froyo rom? Maybe I just don't know how to search the forum, because I can't ever seem to find anything very easily.
Please someone help me, this is my only phone, and I had to borrow a laptop for the night, to fix my phone.
well........nevermind, imagine, after a giant pitcher of amberbock and a shot.......
first thing i do when i come home is get the correct kernel with voodoo lagfix installed
wtf. no more I9000! So I think I got to where I wanted all by myself, well i mean I didn't make all the oneclicks but you guys know what I mean!
edit: i did a quadrant, I feel I have the stock kernel installed but not lagfix as my quadrant is only 900 something? doesn't seem right cosidering
i was close to 1800 before on i9000 *sigh* Still would like to find a stock ATT FROYO rom Just in case
Quadrant means nothing. I ran two benchmarks one after each other with the same setup and got 900 and 1500. It only looks big when you compare it.

Just look for the voodoo folder. If it is there then it is installed. As for your scores that seems about right for a stock Tom, the i9000 Tom's will always be faster as they are more updated

Well its there just dunno if its from before. Also before whem I rebooted into recovery I would go into a 2nd screen that was red that would let me enable or disable lagfix.....doesn't happen now.....dunno if I really care though cuz at least I can talk on my phone now lol....anyone know if supercurio is working on voodoo sound built on captivate 2.2?

Yeah that was for the universal lag fix. Not voodoo. As long as it is there and no disable lag fix folder then you are good. It would not have carried over as the stock flash wiped it when you flashed the update. Not sure if he is as he doesn't have the device. And they are building kernals on more updated stuff then 2.2. Only time will tell if he does. I am more looking coward to the 2.3 port lol

Continuum v5 b4 reboot

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. Every once in awhile my cappy reboots straight to the boot ani. Wondering if it isn't the kernel. Still I love this rom anyone else having the same issue?

My bad. Beta 3
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
It's the kernel I've seen people post about reboots
What you are experiencing is called a "hot reboot" the phone itself doesn't reboot just the os.
+1
I'm having issues all over the place - hot reboot is one of about 5 or 6 I've noticed on the last couple of days. Just flashed v5 from v2.3 and I'll be going back ASAP.
Thanks studacris. I thought maybe I did something wrong. No way im going back though. Gb on the cappy is great. Again thanks to all.

I had the same issue before. I wiped user data and rebooted. That seemed to fix the issue. I figure when in doubt...clear and reboot.

What other problems are you having? I'm running Beta 3 as well (I missed when they put up the download link for RC1, now I have to wait until they fix whatever problems there are with it.) and I'm not having any issues whatsoever. Battery life is great as well, which was my only real gripe with CM7.
I was on RC3 and now 5.1, and I haven't had any such problems. I was running another ROM (not Continuum, which I will not name) before, which suffered from terrible sleep death. About every other day, it would not wake up from sleep at all. I had to pull the battery to get it to work again. I have had NO such problems with Continuum at all.
Oops. Posted too soon. Continuum 5.1 was extremely laggy. Tap something and the screen blanks out before the app comes up. That's bad lag. Also, it completely crashed on me about 4 times in a couple of hours.
I just flashed 5.2, and it seems to be better. However, icezar1 says the problem was with TW4, but I'm using Launcher Pro. I hope these problems don't persist.
Well, 5.2 was almost as bad as 5.1. I installed the previous version of the kernel (Talon 0.1.4) and all was well. Some kind of high memory freeing something or other. Then today Cezar released 5.3 which is even better. This is a great ROM.

[Q] Gingerbread 1-3 sec call answer delay!?

Hello all,
I have been trying several Gingerbread ROM's lately (JVK/JVB, both, stock and custom). All of them seem to have call answer delay. That means when I answer the call, other person can't hear me before 1-3 seconds. This is really annoying.
I have read a lot of GB ROM threads and it seems that its not reported much. How can it be? Making phonecalls should be essential when we are talking about phone.
Or maybe I have done something wrong or just tried wrong ROM-s?
Please post here with which ROM-s you don't have this issue!
Thank you !
I have stock jvb and the same problem. It is really annoying. Is it possible to use another phone.apk that wouldn't have this problem?
Looks like i'm not the only one ...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I confirm that I have the same problem with JVK.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
It's most definitely a Gingerbread issue as other phones (on 2.3.3 and even 2.3.4 apparently) are affected.
It baffles me that Google would let such a bug unfixed for so long. In my opinion it's a very critical issue that needs to be resolved ASAP.
Custom ROM (DOC's) and same problem here...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Same problem.
Bloody annoying!
Also on custom Rom (Cold) and same ****.

Hamsterbread 1.1 -> same thing.
Try searching in market: call delay patch
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
On GoaTrip 1.7 & 1.8, also on stock, but even on Juwe 4.1 & 4.2 - exactly the same issue.
It clearly is a Gingerbread thing. Not sure it rests with Samsung, it could be from great Google itself.
Already tried "Call delay patch". Din't help much
I have the same problem on JVB, DebusROM. It lasts for 1 second and it's really annoying, damn it
Had this problem on every GB I tried. That is one of the reasons of my return to Froyo.
Doc's beta - same thing.

Same here (SGS with JVB)
Same here (SGS with JVB)
same here jvb stock
This is a reported and known bug in Gingerbread.
It is already under inspection by Google devs, so there is no need to say "same here". It won't change anything.
You can try this,

Ok installed try it and then post results

Rooted stock 2.3.3 extreme instability problems

About a month ago I was running cog5v2 but kept having problems with my phone not ringing and getting media, Android, and wssyncmlnps failures. I couldn't take it anymore so I went to I897UCKF1 and then rooted. That's it. Initially I didn't have any problems but after a week my phone freaked out and i'm back to where I started with the same failures.
maybe this will help but it looks like the reason my phone isn't ringing is because it can't access media inside my phone. If I try to select a ringtone the phone reboots.
Thanks so much for any help possible,
Kraig

Try kh3?
10 char
The kf1 build was pure crap, full of random reboots and charge bugs. The new ke3 is full of redemption. The devs here finally have something decent to work with, so give them shot.

I'm running KH3 and its very stable, much better than kf1.
I'll have to give one of the other builds a try.
hopefully I'll get to it tonight.
Thanks, Kraig
