I finally got a chance to order a touchpad through hp's site.
I almost got to the end when it said something like:
Thank you for choosing HP your order has been place blah blah blah
I hit next after refreshing for 15mins. It says that they had an issue processing the credit card and gave me 4 options
Edit billing info
Change payment option
And two others I forgot.
As I went to edit the billing info my pc shut off, ruining everything
I'm wondering if my order was actually placed. Please someone help.
There's no way to login to the business sit with the username because I registered during the process

i would call hp but i would just completely stay away from the touchpad i know its webos but it was incredibly buggy and they didnt sell any of them so itll probably be eold sometime soon

Seriously ... if it would come down to like $150 ... I might buy one. It can run Android apps so I'm all good with that. I was looking for a tablet for a long time before I bought my laptop (not much of a laptop considering it's an 18 incher). Although I would still like something with a screen larger than my phones while chilling on the couch.

I hear bestbuy was dumping those. Trying to make HP take em back for not selling...nut for 150 is take one haha

I heard Bestbuy will be selling them in the store on the East Coast (I'm in NJ) tomorrow. I ordered it of the SMB site but they say it was a glitch. They said they will receive a new stock next week, and my order says it will arrive around the 26th so I'm confident the order is firm

GOD DAMN IT!!! My friend just told me that Best Buy and HP are selling HP Touchpad's for $100. I just checked online and they are all sold out and all the Best Buy's close to me are sold out also. The Best Buy close to my work has them in stock, hopefully they will continue to have them in stock when I go over tomorrow during lunch.
There are also developers who are trying to get Android on the Touchpad. Think about it, a $100 tablet running Honeycomb/Ice Cream Sandwich.

New Nook nicer screen!

I returned my Nook and got a new one and was amazed at how much better the screen is. Mine had a slight bleed at the bottom I wasn't sure if that was all of them or not.
Anyways aside from the bleed gone, the screen is much more vibrant and clear. Just an fyi if anyone has a weird screen don't settle!
Cool, mine has a dead pixel that appeared only 2 days after I purchased it - I've been debating whether or not it's worth the time to reflash back to stock, etc... etc... and exchange it. I think I will.
My first nook had white splotches on the screen. I took it back to the store and the guy wouldn't exchange it. As soon as I told him I wanted my money back he changed his mind and gave me another one. He was a ****.
Then, after a week, the nook started creaking and squeaking all around the bezel. I called to get it exchanged. They said I had to go into the store. I went into the store. They said I had to do it online or on the phone. I called on the phone and argued with some lady for 30 minutes after which she told me that if I sent my current nook back and they didn't think anything was wrong with it, they'd charge me $250. I hung up and called right back and got a woman who was ok and told me the other lady was an idiot. Thanks guys.
I received my third nook in the mail. The A/C charger jack was broken. I couldn't put the jack in. So i called to get this replaced and argued with some guys in India for an hour and finally got a replacement.
I'm on my 4th nook. Barnes and Noble sucks and I will never buy another electronic device from them again.

I called to deregister a device since I forgot to deregister before returning a NC and the lady was an idiot reading from a script she didn't even understand.
Roku is another horrible company for India scripted phone support.
Unfortunaley India gets beat up a lot by Americans for this when it might not be so bad if the scripts were taken away and they just hired smarter people.
I got mine at best buy, and getting it replaced for the phantom ghost tap issue was easy as pie. The new one works great. The girl at the counter was kinda cute too, so it was like win-win!

My wife and I both got a NC, same store, about a month apart. Both of ours work perfectly.
Don't assume because you had 2 problematic NC's doesn't mean everyone has, or that overall quality is bad. (Yes, I said 2.)
The only issue with my screen is some binding/pinching where the bezel meets the LCD which causes slight bright spots at the bottom edge. I've seen this same issue with lower quality LCD monitors. Otherwise pleased with screen quality. Having worked in electronics manufacturing, I came to learn how variable quality control can be with some manufacturers.
Best Buy has one month reuturns but after that your screwed unless u buy insurance. my 1st NC ate an 8 gig microUSB and started bleeding by the vol. B&N took sent another straight away with postage paid for the return. NO PROB and they do have a vibrant screen from all angles.
a case would keep your nook safe from most screen probs, and be shure to line up your mcards.

Technically yes, but they will help with warrenty issues after that date to some degree as well.

I did buy the insurance, but didn't have to use it even though it was something like 45 days or more after I bought it. I brought it in planning to use the insurance (which is a one time shot apparently), but she told me they could just do it as a warranty exchange since it was so new. I'm not really sure how long they extend it for, but I was happy.

Wow, yeah, my post was just soooo long.
If you read it, it said I had three bad nooks (Yes, I said 3). I never said everyone has bad ones. I said I won't buy from them again because their support sucks and their products are defective.
Maybe next time you comment on a post, read it first.
My first NC was defective. It had a bad accelerometer and/or a bad power button. Essentially, if you set it down occasionally it would act as if you pressed and held the power button and then tapped OK to shut down the tablet.

I'd bought the extended warranty but this happened within the first week of ownership. I talked to the manager of the store where I bought it and she swapped it for a new one and applied the warranty to NC #2. I'd heard the phone support was horrible, so made it a point to buy it locally. I'm glad I did.
I'm loving my new one. I'm going to Hawaii in a week and, for the first time in my life, will be travelling without a laptop. All I'm taking is my NC and a BT keyboard for it.

Wow, good thing the store owner was helpful. The guy on staff at my local BN refused to do anything and said all returns or exchanges definitely needed to go through the website.
I'm still not happy with my current Nook. The panel below the "N" button is depressed on both sides. But I'm sticking with it for now.
Backlight bleeding is pretty much the norm for any LCD screen. I've seen it on desktop monitors, TVs, laptops, tablets...etc. It will exist on even on the top of the line models and "best" brands.
If you just have only some slight backlight bleeding, I would discourage you from trying to exchange it. You're likely to get something worse like dead pixels.
I spent half an hour one the support line a second ago because my USB cable fried. The lady tried to have me enter my credit card number for some reason so I could buy "NOOKBooks". I argued with her for about 5 minutes and then she told me all I need to enter is my shipping address. She said that they would mail the replacement cable free of charge in 24 to 48 hours.
I didn't spend anytime on hold even though the automated message said that they are flooded with tech support calls.

Smarter people ask for a lot of money (if they are paying more money then whats the point of outsourcing) even in India only those who can't really find another job for themselves take up job's in call center's.
well I just returned my nook with a transformer incoming... i sure hope it has as good of a screen or ill prob end up another nook. lol

Is Streak 7 recalled from Dell?

I called staples to check the availablity of Dell Streak 7. The representive said there will not have new stock of Streak 7 coming soon. Because Dell actually recalled Streak 7.
Do anyone know more, and does Streak 7 have problem for recall?

I had to go to 4 staples stores before I found one.
1 store said they had 4 in stock, until I got there and they couldnt find them... then the manager had to teach the sales associates how to understand their POS system. Apparently, their system will show the Staples store has them in stock, until Dell actually receives them.
The manager told me that they dont know the details, they were just told to RTV them.
Also, one of those 4 stores I went to actually had one in stock, but for some odd reason, the manager wouldnt sell it to me... His only response was "you dont want this one".... and wouldn't explain any further.
Whatever! I got mine!

When I called Dell for another question today I directly asked if there was any sort of recall and if they still are supporting the device. He assured me of no recall and says full support is still to continue. Of course this is coming from a Dell trained employee so only time will tell...
Seems there may just be some sort of issue between Staples and Dell?
I just purchased mine on thursday at a Staples with the $100 dollar off coupon without any problem. They still had 3 or 4 left in stock (they were selling faster than the other tablets) Nice cheap way to test out if a tablet is right for you imo.
Its no wonder seeing as T-Mobile has discontinued it too.
This is very unfortunate. DELL really dropped the ball on this one, big time. Awesome device; all they needed was some proper software support and a smidgen of advertising. I really don't know why they even made the Streak 7 if they weren't going to support it. Then again, DELL is one of the few tech giants that actually spends less on R&D than Apple.
It's still listed for sale on T-mobile just not with a contract discount.

We got word yesterday that tmo is no longer supporting the streak. We are unable to order any more. Word is once stock is depleted tmo will offically eol the streak. As of right now it is available online and in stores that still have them in stock

thats why i bought insurance on it through tmobile so in about a year when they cant be found anymore they will have to replace with a similar device through asurion its 130 dollars.

I doubt it, but nice thought. Of course simply for that reason it probably won't happen. The fact that the unit is being discontinued probably means they're not going to invest more into it. Best bet will be for the dev community to be our only hope.

Ordered a DS7 on 11/17 and was given an EDD for 12/27, I've been on the Dell Forums and a few people have claimed the same as well (Give or take a few days). Some have called Customer Service (My boyfriend has as well and hasn't gotten anywhere with them!), some have Emailed. Does anyone know what is going on? Any help would be appreciated.

If you've been on the Dell forums, then did you order it from Dell? If so, the 12/27 is probably because they are waiting on returns from stores since they announced the Streak 7 was discontinued.
Yeah I ordered it from their website on 11/17. They gave the EDD for 12/27 before they were discontinued. But them waiting for returns makes sense. I've also heard QVC sold 30,000 of them and that Best Buy sold a lot on Black Friday. The there's also a rumor in the boards that the the screen and battery life are vein worked on but I'm not holding my breath for that haha
Weirdest thing, went on their site today and my order was canceled then a new order was set up (still the tablet that I wanted) and now it's being shipped and should be here by Monday! I'm excited but at the same time this has been the weirdest online ordering experience I have ever had!

I bought my Dell Streak 7 on 11/25 and the estimated delivery was 12/26. Was not happy.
Then a week ago I got a email saying my order was changed. Called Dell, they canceled and re-submitted the order he said and the new delivery date was 1/15.
Was REALLY HOT after that. Went to 5 different people letting them know they ruined my kids Christmas (ok not my kid, but mine!)
I got tired of waiting on the last guy when I called on Thursday and was too busy at work to deal with them and figured the weekend is probably not the best time to rip a new one on someone, so was going to call today. Either I made a impression on someone or they just hurried things up but Fedex dropped off a dell streak at my house this morning. running 3.2.

Well you have a rom that noone else does, would you be willing to make a nandroid or nvflash copy before modifying it?
Just as much if you dont and you break something, you'd be stuck downgrading to an older version.
The easy way is to use clockwork mod and make a nandroid, but that would mean losing the stock recovery.
If you are comfortable with using nvflash that can dump everything safely.
If you can meet on #dellstreak7 on freenode I can walk you though either process
Edit: it's also more or less completely 3.2 stock, there's absolutely nothing noticable changed, if it wasnt for the preinstalled stage widgets it might as well be a stock experience minus the quick updates (3.2.2 has been out for a while and 3.2.4 just released recently)

I just bought a new lapdock for my droid bionic at the local verizon store for $49 awesome they are clearance not many left.
Thanks for posting. I was not interested in purchasing the lapdock but at $50 you can't really lose. Picked one up this morning!
Picked the last local one up today, thanks for the tip. This was just what I needed, and the build quality is better than the atrix lapdock IMHO (go figure)

the first thing you should do when u power it on is
click the gear at the top right
go to keyboard
speed it up and get rid of the delay
under mouse i pushed the top two sliders all the way to the right and got rid of the double tap delay
also im using the slide screen saver set to come up after 5 mins

confirm when u close it that the application picker on the phone shows one of the webtop apps
and that you have the 2 square webtop icon in your status bar
If none of those work or you dont have that stuff on your phone screen a simple unplug replug should do the trick

As for the lapdock, all I can say is "wow". I might start leaving my Lenovo laptop at home more and take this thing with me. The USB ports and stereo speakers are nice additions I wasn't expecting. It's very nice to be able to use a mouse with it too. I'd have to "jailbreak" my iPad 3 in order to use a mouse with it when I have it in it's BT keyboard case. Not so with this lapdock.

My GOOGLE NEXUS 7 EXPERIENCE .

My google experience
I pre ordered the google nexus 7 on the day the went on sale. One week after they started shipping i sent google a email asking them when mine would ship. I was told within a week. Two weeks later i call them to see what is up. As at this point my account was charged for the device. They tell me shipping any day. Two days later i see on my wallet account as google nexus 16 gb ORDER CANCELED BY SELLER.
So i call google back and ask what is up. they said it was a computer issue. And that i would have to reorder. At this time they where backorderd for up to 4-6 weeks on the 8 gb . OUT OF STOCK ON 16. So i ordered the 8 gb version. After a week i received it. Two weeks later i start seeing lines on the screen when you hold it on the left side of the screen as well as the screen moving.
I CALL GOOGLE BACK . they tell me that I can send it back and DO A advance replacmeent exchange. I tell them im not having my money put on hold. I will send it back in a few weeks and just reorder another device when they receive it.
So i decided to just order the device and send this back into them when i receive the new device. .
Its now the end of Aug the new device comes in the mail . It comes in with a CRACKED SCREEN . SO not 30 minutes after usp drops the device off i call GOOGLE YET AGAIN. TO GET A RMA for the brand new replacement device. I GET THAT JUST FINE.Send google this device that i only had for 30 minutes in my posession. still at this time holding on the original device as its still working . you just cant push on the left side of screen. GOOGLE Recieved the device on the 5th of september. Since then i have had several phone calls and exchange of emails. Being told that the device i sent them back was the original device and they WOULD NOT ISSUE A REFUND OR REPLACE THE DEVICE. STATING THAT i would have to prove what device i sent in. They have it so i have no way of doing so . Other then they can see what device is being used and connected to my google wallet. They understand and can see this so im told. But still refuse to help me in any way. So now today on 9/27 I contact them for the last time and demand i get a RMA to send the original device back to them as proof that it was not the one they keep saying they have. SO NOW GOOGLE HAS ALL OF MY MONEY BOTH OF MY DEVICES . AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ME AS A CUSTOMER

You've already made posts here saying that the screen on that particular nexus didn't come cracked, but it somehow ~crumbled~ under your thumb when you were using it. Remember ?

I think you mean Google could NOT care less about you. If they, as you say, could care less about you, then their disregard for you is yet to plunge to greater depths.

This has nothing to do with the device breaking or working perfectly.. This is about there whole shopping refund situation..As far as those with the screen cracking . Google and asus knows this is a issue in certain situations. Asus sent me a email re-guarding the screen crack on my tablet and explained there was a metal shaving under the glass.
The issue is about them tying to say i sent them back the wrong tablet . a 8 gb version and trying to claim a refund on 16 gb version.. As far as spaming every post . this is the first time i posted about a refund issues. First time i posted about GOOGLE Outright telling me NO WE are not issuing a refund and we WILL NOT send you the device back or replace it...
I know this really does not belong on a development forum. But there are so many others as well that do not belong here.I can see how people who have had a perfect experience with google will just look over this thread or spam it as i see several have done. My whole experience with buying this device has been one hassle after another.Something you will not get from say Amazon.
Yes i created this thread to blow off some steam and also because i know Google is reading this Forum.
People have a right to know what Could happen to them... Thats all..
so i will say one more time . there is no issue with how the device was damaged . the issue is them claiming im trying to steal from them.
I do not think its google its the google Device store and there policy.There are many post all over about issues this is not the first...

Why a ipad .. the issue is with the google play devices store . Not Android or google development . Sometimes its not what you buy something but where you buy it that can damage the experience.. Things will break issues will come up. Its how a company handles them that count.. Thanks for the advice thou.

Thanks . yes i know we all get carried away over a issue we feel so strongly to make known . But this is not something i have been posting in every thread . On the threads of similar issues with Google Device Customers. People have a right to know. I had to send them back a Perfect working device to prove to them they did not have it. I think people have a right to know
