Kernels for CM7 - LG Optimus 2x

Hi guys im a new user of the lg optimus 2x... i only have 1 day with the phone... i installed CM7 without problems... had been playing perfect on this "little" thing... but im missing the battery profiles... i could only select powersave and performance... so... i supose i need to flash a new kernel to get more profiles and get better battery life... any suggestion?
Thanks a lot!

You could try vorkKernel, there's a thread in the android development subforum. But I had no luck with this kernel, can't get no sound output with it ...

ill try vorkKernel, hope it doesnt mess my cellphone!

vorkKernel is working fine... any suggestion for battery profiles? I want better battery life thanks!

I recommend underclocking it. However wierd this may sound, the O2X is such a fast phone anyway, so if you UC to ~760mhz, it'll be roughly the same speed but with significantly better battery life.

i used to do that with setcpu using several profiles with ondemand on my nexus one...but this lg with cm7 doesnt have ondemand battery profile!

Underclocking for Battery Life?

I was thinking about doin this but I have NO idea what would be a good/safe amount to undervolt/underclock. The main reason i want to do this is to get some more juice outta my battery but I'm not sure what a good amount is. Is there a way to keep performance and overall "snappiness" of the phone about the same and still get a good gain of battery life? Also is there anyway i can damage my phone by doing this? Sorry if these are stupid questions but i wanna be safe
I'm on CM 6 RC if that makes any difference. Thanks
Anyone? Using SetCPU btw
I used an 800mV kernel for a while and had SetCPU @ 806mhz -- battery life was insane.
SetCPU doesn't make a difference in battery life, it can only shorten it. The kernal already has the best settings for CPU speed built in.
The main function of SetCPU is to overclock.

Ah did not know that thank you
So with that in mind, is there any kernel you would recommend? Or am i just better off with what's already installed
Stock (cyan's) works fine for me. Try them and find out which works best for you.
Thankfully people stopped releasing their own kernals in masses... but they were replaced by winzip roms...

[Q] Help with choosing Battery tweak and config?

Okay so i have flashed the uncapped Decad3nce-Uncapped #43 768mhz
kernal and just wondering what battery tweak to use? collins or decad3nce custom battery tweak and which configurations should i use to get more battery time. My battery life sucks and goes -10% an hour or less with some use. Thanks for the help
they higher your CPU is overclocked, the faster your battery is going to go down... you could setup profiles in SetCPU to change when its a lower or higher speed... i use collin_ph's battery tweak, and its amazing, he should be releasing a newer update soon, if hasn't already... lol...
EDIT: This also, probably should be in another 'non-developmental/rom' section.... read FAQ? just saying... we dont mind helping, just not trying to clutter sections with other sections questions...

Deca's works well with his kernel. Though it really is the same as collins, just a few more settings. Either will work and get you the same result
And yeah, this would fall into the Q&A section. No worries
any help to what i should make its config? right now i jus have option 1 (default 768) but was wondering if i should just customize it and if so what to?
That would be 100% up to you There is no perfect setup that works for everyone...just try different setups and see what works best. The closest to perfect would actually be the 691 kernel...the 768 drains the battery faster.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I've manage to figure out (not really figure, more like a hunch/guess) what went wrong. its the kernel.
now im using Apocalypse ROM [Firekernel OC] by itasoulas
Im really sorry but I dont understand any of the tech stuff posted here, but what I do know is that my 1 yr old battery on my Ace is like worth 3 minutes of calls now (only)!!!
Pls help. Should I get a new battery instead?
Thanks!

Obviously, yes!

Hey,Check how much you have clocked your phone at and the governer
Settings>CyanogenModSettings>Performance(press OK for the warning)>CPU Settings; If the governor is ONDEMAND, change it to Smartassv2 and increase Min value to 245. I use Apocalypse and my battery life is awesome(check the attachments).
Second lower your screen brightness simple yet effective. also increase the Max value in the CPU settings to 902 for zero lag. Also set the network to only 2G if you dont want your 3G on all the time. This saves lot of battery life too.
Press Thanks If I helped

DCTopTeam - u can check the physical battery condition whether is bloated (feels expanded), this is an indicator that the battery is about to die
Flash a kernel, i recommend The ace kernel beta 4, it is discontinued, but has no bugs, a long battery life included

902 seems high... that might drain the battery faster. i don't go higher than 825.

Best battery oriented ROM?

Hello guys. I would like to hear some suggestions regarding this. So far I've tried CM7 and emanoN, but both of them drain like hell (specially CM7). Please avoid usual recomendations (turn off data, bluetooth, wireless and all those basic tips).
If there's an app, script or tweak that helps, please share it with me! My priority is battery life, above everything else.
Hope to get some replies! Thanks in advance
Skipping all the basic tips, I suggest you use a pure source-kind of rom. Something like the MOre rom or Pure CM7 by mebitek or kittenlinux, another one is GingerMod. Battery lives one those roms are so far one of the most cheered for. CM9 Beta 7 also had incredible battery life, although the link is probably gone already as mirroring is not allowed by Maclaw. As for the scripts, some mini users find these annoying and just a piece of cr*p, but as for me, I really made sure that it wasn't just a placebo effect. SlaidyBoost v2.3 works well and am happy with the performance and battery life boost that comes with it.

Thanks for your comment! What about this one?
That one was originally made to improve battery life when you use wifi most of the time for browsing the net or such, but I can see that other tweaks have been added for an overall change, and based on the comments there, some users found their minis slow down a bit. Although I haven't tried it yet, it's best if you would simply flash the rom you chose to use, boot it up and set up the settings you want initially, then reboot to recovery, make a backup of that rom, then start experimenting with various scripts found here in XDA that is compatible with our mini. If you don't like the results, then simply restore the backup you made earlier. I'll try that script you told me about if I have the time, though.

No, that ****ty script doesn't work.
I recommend you the stock ROM if you want battery life.
Stock samsung rom has the best battery life. But, on official CM7 with 604MHz for max, 122MHz for min and ondemand cpu governor, i'm having good battery life, can't complain at all. Haven't tried stock rom for ages, maybe my current setup is even better

Thanks man, but I don't think CM7 is the best option when looking for long battery life. I'm going to try de stock based ones and decide if any of them if better than the actual stock rom. Andro-ID, emanoN and GingerMod are apparently the most popular ones. Regarding the others, MORe is discontinued, so I wouldn't go for it, same as the one from kittenlinux. I'll give CyanMobile and mebitek's a try too! Trying GingerMod right now.
CM7.2 is draining battery fast because at default it's using Lil'GV2 governor which is veery agressive regarding CPU frequency! When you set it to ondemand it's much better. It costs you nothing to try it out if you haven't, stock rom is just too ugly and slowish when not rebooted regulary

Installed GingerMod (smartassV2 governor) and overnight battery dropped 35%. That is definitely not normal, and happened with the other ROMs too! Can anyone help me identify the problem?
Edit: BTW, the phone is two weeks old, and when I first bought it I didn't experience this huge drain.

TBH stock rom didn't work for me well especially regarding battery life. CM 7.2 official 710MHz/245MHz ONDEMAND battery lasts and lasts and phone is faster. Couldn't ask for more considering mini is entry level android phone for some time :good:

why dont u recallibrate battery after flashing ROMs:
1. Use app battery callibration from store, the developper is Nema i think.
Thanks, but I do that regularly, and as far as I'm concerned that doesn't improve battery life, just the accuracy of the % shown.
Chocobread with antutu battery saver is amazing I don't charge my phone one and a half day and still the battery is at 20 I love this life ... battery life.

I think stock official CM 7.2 ROM does not contain the kernel. Can anybody please confirm?
On the pc, most of power management is by the kernel. Guess here too, we should look at kernel rather than the rom.?
I may be wrong though.
So, OP, which ROM did you settle for?

Still trying them. I'd say Andro-ID is the best until now! Unfortunately it doesn't support many languages, including mine (spanish).
Chaurigol and wtfshouldidonow, I saw you commented about my project. My project was created specially to achieve a good-battery life. I cannot guarantee that your phone will have great battery life, but you can give a try. Also, you can try my mod with Adrenaline Engine. If you want to try my mod, try to use my edited Adrenaline Engine (which will work with my battery mod):

My phone (which is now bricked from suspicious reasons) had a great battery life, about 2-4 days.

That depends what you want. In use interactivex from Huexxx's kernel. Just Google governors and you will find the differences
Sent from my LG-P970
Just easily search xda, its great forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369817
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663809
And in some words, as far as im concerned:
InteractiveX - battery friendly, not so aggressive like smartassv2, with low freq available (like 100mhz) you can experience sods or wakelocks.
Smartassv2 - good with performance, good with battery
OndemandX - just switch to highest freq and then wait for your activity (to lower freq or not). I think its most stable, second is Smartass, and third Interactive.
Im using InteractiveX, because without using, screen off, battery is just draining perfectly, like 1% per 2-4 hours. (boype's cm7)
Gonna test InteractiveX.
Thanks

Glad I can help!
You're Welcome (de nada )
Mine is LG Optimus Black, Zeus ROM 6.39 version
On full charging with plugged in, it is showing 100% battery stat and message showing battery charged full
But on removing charging plug, it is showing 98% only...
What to do, any problem ?
Why don't Huexx include full Battery and low battery alert and Touchpal keyboard and other swype option keyboards?
Please suggest him to include like these better features, because he listens the words of Senior Members like you...
Firstly, android is such an open system just to let ppl install what they want, so pre-installing any keyboards is against that... everyone has own favourite keyboard/launcher/etc.
About this battery: it is probably caused by too high charger voltage. Battery has its own specification and as far as im concerned, our chargers arent best ;p try to pull battery, wait some minutes, then put it back and see how many % you have and then charge it to the end... idk if it helps, but i tried to do such things and i had 100% charged battery...
With the InteractiveX governor, I have my system up for almost 2 days and still 40% battery. Excelent. That's exactly what I want.
