The situation- Friend gave me his htc g1 which had a cracked lcd but was in full working order, got it repaired from a shop. Couple of weeks later whilst attempting to root the phone the screen died, opened it up and the flex cable was broken. Repaired it myself this time and once I did the backlight now worked but there was no picture. It plugs into the computer fine,I think I've factory reset it(it vibrated a second time after i held the keys). Any ideas on how I can fix the problem or what could be the problem? I have tried to unroot with a blank screen as well and so I have no idea what the status of the phone software wise is...Although I can hear sounds occasionally when I press the camera button or the volume buttons when the phone is on- It vibrates when it is turned on.
Kind regards, Nabeel
Is it bricked? IS there anythign I can try? Any help would be appreciated...
Bump =(...I am currently trying to drain the battery and then charging it overnight....This may take a while....
Battery was drained, charged it up using my computer and a min-usb cable, still nothing...Is it bricked...Any help would be nice...
sorry if there is an answer somewhere, couldn't find it.
my power button on the N1 broke and yestarday I had to turn it off. the battery trick (plug in the phone, take out and re-insert the battery a couple off times) worked once before but now the phone simply stays off.
warrenty is not an option anymore for me.
Is there any another way to turn the phone on without using the power button?
thanks in advance
Edit: just in case, my N1 is an SLCD model and its running 2.3.4.
Wow, I'm having the same problem and was about to make a thread like this.
Running CM7, the phone crashed on me last night and I had to turn it off. I tried the battery trick, but it's never worked for me. The few times I've had to turn the phone off, I was lucky and the power button worked after mashing it for a couple of minutes, but now it's completely dead.
I'm under warranty, but right now I'm without a phone and and need it back up ASAP..
(Mine is also the SLCD model, if it makes a difference.)
Edit: Managed to mash the button to life once again; My phone is back. I think I need to give HTC a call.
Try pulling the SIM and SD, as well as the battery, and re-inserting them all...
The other option - I read a post by a guy whose power button was stuck in the closed position, and he had to open the phone and separate the contacts to get the phone to start...
Also if you are anything into some DIY repair work, there is always a spare part for this http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_kw=nexus one power flex
With the right tools, it shouldn't be to much of a problem replacing this part.
FINALLY got my hands on an N7, and a few hours in, the screen started flickering when I tried to turn it back on while charging... Tried to hard boot, but no response... Is there a key combo I can hit to put into stock recovery or something? It won't respond at all. Completely stock, no root no mods, nothing...

Please, someone... Don't wanna have to waste football time to return it...

If it wont respond then how would you get it into recovery? You have to be powered off, then hold down the power button and the volume down
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
There are a lot of threads on here about battery troubles. Some of them are of the nature "can't turn on when charge got low", some are "device turns off even though charge state reported good", and some of them are "battery charge state reports impossible values".
One of the threads (dang, can't find it now) suggests that a significant fraction of folks with battery troubles are simply due to a loose battery connector.
Given that you observed "flickering", I suppose that could be a potential cause. But you did leave a few things out
- was it ever charged after it came out of the box before the trouble started?
- do you know what charge state it was claiming it had just before the trouble?
I'm also not exactly sure what you mean by "hard boot" - holding power button down for a long time?
Anyway, if you want to see if it is a battery connector, you have to pop the back case off. I don't know if this voids the warranty or not. If that is a risk, just return it and get another unit. If you pop off the back cover, something like a guitar pick (thin, rigid, but slick plastic) is probably a better idea than a screwdriver.
good luck man
Did you try holding down the power button for at least 30 sec, or is that what you meant by "hard boot"?
WeW... just bought it? no root? no modification?
screen just started flickering... not good.. return it..
if its alright i wouldn't trust it in the long run...
Thanks everyone. My Fiancée has graciously offered to return it for me, so I don't miss the game (huge Niners fan). I've never seen a device do that before (and we've had a lot). Hopefully the next one will be more friendly...

Anyone having issues with power button being stuck? When I press the power button, it often gets stuck and phone reboots because of it. It's happened over 15 times today... It's getting quite annoying. I didn't spill anything or drop the phone, the power button just sticks and I have to keep pressing to get it unstuck... The volume buttons are fine though.

No problem here. If it were me, I would get the device replaced.
Hmmm. Yea. I'm gonna call them tomorrow. Still debating whether to return it or exchange it... I've been a little disappointed with battery life. Hmmm..
I am also having issues with my power button. It used to click when pressed like the volume buttons. Now I feel no click action at all. It still powers on the phone and screen but I feel that it is only going to get worse. makes me worried. No body else having this issue?
Not me, at least
The volume buttons on my Nexus 4 do the same thing although it happened much later in its life. If you can I would advise getting it replaced because its very annoying to say the least.
Mine just started this.
Last night I noticed my screen wasn't turning off after pressing the power button. All it would do was act like I was holding the power button with the intention of turning the phone off. one time it actually did turn off. This sucks. I'll be going by the Verizon store next time it happens. (because the phone is behaving completely normal right now)

has anyone found a solution to this?
i just received this phone as a motocare replacement for one with a cracked screen. it feels like they sent me a refurbished one someone spilled soda on. i kinda feel like a jerk sending it right back, but the constant resetting sure is annoying! i'm ready to send the phone in, but would much prefer to fix it myself if there's a way to do it. any way to fix it?
edit: nevermind. i sent it back. they sent it like this, they can deal with it. i'm afraid if i mess with it, i'll kill the warranty. still 100% love the phone and can't wait to get it back!!

no good news, mine first t715 also died like this. i hope I was wrong but...
Take it in for warranty m8
Might be worth waiting for the battery to completely drain and then try and turn it on after getting some charge in it.
I've had problems recently, after using OTG, the tab's display will just turn off, and when I mean off, it's just the screen, the tab is actually still on, as you can feel the heptic feedback, the only way is to force reset using the power volume and home key.
Another problem, still recently, I had about 12% power, so I just connected the USB to charge the tab, the screen started to flicker and then nothing works, after 10 minutes reconnected the power, and it started to charge up from 0%, it seems like the tab has gone haywire, I had decided to trade it in the next few days for the xperia X performance.
Not even bothered to take it to samsung service center (still under warranty), I can't stand their customer service, my tab has been through a repair before, my home key died and it kept on grabbing the side of the hole and sticking down, they replaced the part, but left something inside causing a lump at the back, problem sorted out, but the buttom kept on grabbing the side of the hole and not coming out if you press it slightly on one side, I even showed them the problem, and they agreed, and they say that a normal person won't press the button like that, and it's normal, I did mention that I have tried a few units and does not have the same problems, they just said it's normal, so I said to them if this is normal what isn't normal, and do they tell all there customers if they have a problem that its normal.
So I am completely sick of there BS, trying to keep away from samsung stuff.

Got rid of it, it should be a problem internally, anyway I've traded it for a Sony Xperia X performance.
Mine also died few days ago. I tried to charge it with different chargers and cables but without any success. POWER +VOL DOWN is not rebooting the tablet.
Now I am planning to open the back cover and will try to disconnect the battery. I believe it will help.

I am sorry, I did not have enough time for that in the last days. I will do that probably later today and will share the result.

Unfortunately, no. It didn't work. I removed the back cover and managed to disconnect the battery. I left it disconnected for few hours, then I put everything back together. After, I tried to charge it and power it on again but without any success.
Any advice and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
