I try to root dell streak 7 by SuperOneClick 1.5.5 or 1.6.5 or 1.7.0. None of them can work. Any one can help on this?

If you search u will find you dont need root just flash clockwork recovery then a rom with root

I've been trying to days frying to do the same and I read your post about flashing,I tried and can't get to go into fastboot recovery or use adb. With adv I got as far as cmd recognizing the device

huh? what does adb have to do with it?
You boot into fastboot (search on how)
flash recovery(again search on how)
reboot into recovery (yet again search on how)
flash zip you downloaded in dev section
reboot
you have root

trust me.. all the information you need to do every single one of those steps is in this forum.. either in the dev section or here.. I dont know why it's taking you two days when I was just able to locate everything(even though I laid out within minutes from just the clockwork mod thread in the dev section.
it tells you 1. How to boot your streak into fast boot
2. tells you how to flash recovery and what commands to issue
3. tells you how to enter clockwork recovery
4. flashing the zip is self explanatory
So I actually posted a thread detailing how to restore the Streak 7(Wifi only) back to stock. I put it into general in the main forum instead of under the streak 7 forum. So I am placing this here to lead to that post.

I was as many others : applying the update with CWM on my tablet.
Everything is OK now, i have followed every steps and it worked at the first time, my CWM was removed.

Yes, you can.
when i double click the restore.bat file the command prompt windows starts up and it looks like its running some commands and then disappears. i have successfully installed the drivers and edited the restore file. cant figure it out.

If you are running Win 7, try running the .bat file as administrator.

i tried the both volume buttons and connect to computer method, but neither adb or the computer recognizes it. the computer doesn't even see it i don't think. any ideas?
i'm trying to get this ROM to work because my Dell Streak got borked.. dumb move by me, trying to update using the OTA...
an now it's stuck booting into recovery EVERYTIME. like everytime i try to reboot it, it boots into Clockworkmod Recovery.
any help would be GREATLY appreciated...

open up the device manager on your computer and push both volume button and then plug the streak in to the computer. if the list flashes its seeing something.

ok, so the computer sees it... but when i click update drivers and navigate to where the driver is located, it says "windows was unable to find the drivers"
mine did the same thing. it took me a few tries.

so i used this method on my US 4g model... and it worked with exception of the backspace button ( <- arrow button) not working.. even asked and recognized a simple mobile sim then asked for a network unlock
but i would like to upgrade to HC... and the wifi updates do not come to the 4G models...
so im going to try install CWM from market and try the "Official-HC-Stage1" and "Official-HC-Stage2" zips and see how this works out

My DS7 is T-mobile 3G version. Which stock ROM is good?
There is only one stock ROM, you use the one with the NVFlash method

I wouldn't listen that thread has many warnings about only being for the Wi-Fi version only.

Why link yo the wifi version in the first place?.....either way this is a nand issue. It needs to be serviced by dell.

IIIIIIIIIIII DID NOT like to the wifi fix thread, it was otnos's post that linked to the thread... learn how to read the entire thread.
On another note, @heroofyouy2k, IF the NVFlash fix does NOT revive your Streak 7, then Smurphjw is correct, only DELL can fix an Streak that has gotten stuck in Read-Only mode, which is what happened to yours, AFTER you reset from within Android, which is the detail you have probably failed to mention on purpose trolling for a possible fix to your user error

Yesterday, I tried to update my DS7 with a file follow link mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GLUNB1A132233&servicetag=9KBM2P1
But it coudn't fix my DS7.
Now, I will try to restore it.
I'm in Vietnam, so I can't ask for warranty services from Dell

Try to factory reset. If your device just normally reboots without resetting than dell needs to fix or replace it cuz the system has somehow become read only.

so before dealing with Dell CS, I want to try the T-mobile restore using NvFlash, you think it should fix the prob or it is just a waste of time?

dam that sucks cause i think my tablet is also in read only. i did a soft & hard reset & nothing gets deleted. tried going into safe mode but when i see safe mode i let go but then it goes blank then dell logo shows and it boots into regular. im only able to use it for a couple mins b4 i get all the errors & force to quit. So i was wondering since the tablet only works for a few mins what if the honeycomb up suddenly shows up. will updating fix the issue?

No, your system is locked in read-only meaning anything you do will not save or resolve any issues. Even if you download the HC update you'll install it and once your system reboots nothing will change. You can't do a factory reset, you can't do anything. The system is stuck and as of right now the only way to get it repaired is through Dell CS. There are some guys on the forums getting together to try and see if they can solve the issue, which will be a waiting game if you are out of the country.
I was fortunate enough to come across a T-Mobile DS7 very cheap due to it having this read-only error. I called Dell on 10/4/11 around 2AM spoke with the tech, they said they will send me a box to repair it. Today, 10/5/11 I received the box at 8:30AM packaged up the Streak and put it in a FedEX drop box around 10:30AM, will keep you guys posted on how long the process takes for me to get this thing back.
just wanted to jump in on this topic. I had the same issues, (force close errors, read-only mode, etc..), I sent it back to dell after reading the last post and they had it back to me with-in 3 days. Up and running again. Very pleased with the results. I recommend just sending it back in.
Hello all,
I have a GTab 8.9 from AT&T. I performed the ICS upgrade last night using Kies and it seemed to load correctly with no errors however the touch screen does not work now. It boots up fine but I cannot do anything with the screen. Power and volume buttons seem to be working fine.
I was able to reboot the device by holding the power button in and then go into download mode and do a factory reset. That went with no errors but the touch screen still does not work.
So, next I thought I would use Odin and try to push the factory rom back to it however Odin never sees the device, (tried multiple usb ports and 2 different pc's Win7 32b and 64b) However if I go ahead and let the GTab boot on up Odin does see it at that point. I can also get to the internal sdcard via my computer.
I also tried to copy the 7300_cwmr files to the sdcard and rebooted back to download mode. I selected apply update from sdcard and went into each of the directories but the device does not see any files in the directories, just the directories themselves.
So.... at this point I'm at a loss what to try next and I'm hoping someone on this forum can give me a nudge in the right direction.
I did reinstall the usb driver
Odin sucessfully recognized this device in download mode 'before' the ICS upgdate, not after.
I am using the factory usb cable and I did try a second one.
I was running version 3.2 before the upgrade.
Not ever rooted
Kies recognizes the device as well, can kies be used to flash my device? (sorry if that's a stupid question)

Are you sure you're in download mode, not recovery, when you try Odin. If kies recognizes the device I can't believe Odin won't.
Is the stock rom file you're trying to flash a zip file or a .tar.md5? The recovery is looking for a zip file and that may be why you didn't see it in any folder. Odin uses the tar file.

Yes I am in download mode. As I mentioned, Odin was able to see my GT before I upgraded to ICS, but not after. At least not in DL mode. If I let the GT go ahead and boot up Odin recognizes it with the port showing up in it's normal amber color.
It boots up fine, the touch screen is not working though so I can't use the GT. Once it boots up I can see it in my computer and place files on on it.

Have you tried fixing permissions when you're in recovery mode? Do you have a custom recovery installed our the stock recovery, and if custom which one?

I apologize, I'm not sure what you mean by fixing permissions while in recovery mode. I do not see that option on the screen. Everything is factory on the GT. I have not installed a custom recovery. The only change to the device from stock was the ICS upgrade that I just performed via Kies.
Is there a way that I can recover the device back to 3.2 using either Kies or while in DL/recovery mode? When the device boots I can see it and add files via my computer. Can I place the stock rom that I have downloaded from sammobile on the devices sdcard and reboot into DL mode and do a restore from sdcard? Is there a different way to do this without Odin?
Odin... I am not sure why it is not recognizing it while in DL mode. Odin will recognize it after the device boots. Actually Odin recognizes it just after the "Samsung" logo displays... while the AT&T "Rethink Possible" startup video is playing Odin will see it at that point. Not before. Quite frustrating actually. (I have tried multiple pc's and usb ports)

With the device off, hold down the power and both volume keys. When you see the Samsung logo release the power key but continue to hold down the volume keys for 2 seconds then release them. That should get you into down load mode. It'll say something about pressing the volume up key to continue. Have Odin running and then plug on the usb cable. Have you done something like that?

ok... so I found an old "XP" laptop here at my office and downloaded the usb driver and Odin again and wnet into DL mode and for whatever reason Odin sees it on the XP machine. (whatever) grrr
Anyway... I downloaded and tried pushing both of the roms I found on sammobile.com for AT&T ( i957UCKJ7 and i957UCLK4) to my GT8.9, both times they completed successfully and when rebooting the touch screen would not work.
Is the rom still available for 3.2? Can I revert back to what came with it when it was originally released?

It sounds like you have a bigger problem than putting the stock Rom on it is going to fix. If you're still under warranty I'd take it in.

I'd like to try and flash it back to stock before I send it back to them (if possible) as the touch screen was working just fine before I pushed out the update via kies the other day. Once the update finished and it rebooted, the touch screen did not work after that.

Yeah I've been to that site, that's where I got the 2 I mentioned above (i957UCKJ7 and i957UCLK4). I believe the UCLK4 file is ICS, correct? I'm not sure what version the UCKJ7 file is. I did try both. Those were the only 2 roms I could find there for the 8.9 ATT GT. I'll go back and look again. Maybe I missed it.

Yea, noticed that too. I used the rom from Sammy but didn't have an issue. I wonder if they got the wrong tab version.

In a small way I'm glad to see that others are experiencing this also.
I wonder if anyone out there has a completely stock rom or knows where I can pick one up? I have tried the 2 over at sammobile and neither brought my touch screen back. I have searched and searched online and can't find anything.
I was reading on a different site while researching this issue and he said he reverted back to his original factory image and the touch screen functionality came back. I'd really just like to get my GT back up and running somehow until this ICS touch screen problem gets figured out.

Sammobile is the stock roms. Use the oldest one, honeycomb. The download is a zip file. To use Odin you'll need to extract the .tar.md5 file out of the zip. Use 7-zip to do that.

I have gotten the stock ICS rom from samfirmware.com, Installed using ODIN and it all went green.
However, after restart the touch screen is not working !
I have tried the following:
1. First the Default (XXX) ICS rom
2. Second, the Actual ATT ICS rom
3. Flashed CWM and it is working
4. Then tried AOKP unofficial rom, not starting
No luck so far, any help is much appreciated please.

Sorry, I meant the cwm recovery was flashed correctly and functioning
Btwi tried the fix permissions suggestion from the similar thread but no luck
What version of odin did you use? The roms look ok. If you didn't use ver 1.85 download that and re flash the Rom.

It is the Odin version I have used,
One more note now, am not sure if that is normal if not.but after the latest flash ( preceded by a data wipe and format ) I can now see zip file I have placed on sdcard but can't access them for flashing and/or ad new zip files from pc
In cwm do a factory reset, wipe and format system and data and then boot. I'm hoping that will solve the problem.

Tried,booted, "SAMASUNG"screen only ( as expected sicne i formatted the system ), then re-flushed the ATT ICS and same output
Am trying to get a new ROM flashed, but when the device powers up [ without me going through the wizard ], i can't write anything to SD from my PC.

If you get only to the Samsung logo, my experience has been a factory reset usually gets you past that and if that doesn't work flashing the stock rom with Odin does. Tried the honeycomb step, still same problem
As for Booting to samsung screen .. i did format /system as suggested, so there will be no system to boot to i think
I'm at a loss, you've tried everything that has gotten me beyond the boot screen.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Tried the honeycomb step, still same problem

I should mention something that has gotten me worried, i flashed a TWRP recovery to check if the touch would work there, but it didn't.
Not sure if i should be worried about HW now, or try another TWRP for instance? Or perhaps TWRP shares another flawed tab wide configuration with the Android image ?
It's not twrp, I use it on my tab and it Works fine. If you were the only one who has this problem I'd say hardware for sure. But at least one other person has the same problem after updating to ics. It seems like there something with the firmware interfacing with the touch screen.

Good question. One of the guys couldn't get the touch screen to work in twrp either. It sounds like a hardware issue but to have a few guys have the same problem after installing ics? I don't know? Something's doing it which I can't figure out

yea i dont get how a rom flash could cause a hardware issue

Think the other colleague did say he found someone elsewhere who resolved the problem by reverting to an older backup he had, which gives me hope that this is no hw issue
And this was my first time to flash any ROM without a backup first, thought a stock update would be fine !!
Can I use adb for instance to verify if it was a hardware issue,if so then any help is appreciated

Got it Reassembled and cleaned it and it worked

I'm having this issue of the touchscreen not responding on my s2 now
You say you got it reassembled? What did you have to do to repair it
any help greatly appreciated
I have JB 4.1.2 and cwm 9.1 flashed
after reboot screen comes on but won't respond to touch, I can only access download and recobvery screens
I also have the phone not showing on computer when usb attached but am loading rom etc to ext sd card first and installing them from cwm
Got the maintenance center to disassemble it, clean the pins and reconnect the screen and then it worked
