Speech to Text activation - LG Optimus Black

Hi there!
Im trying to help my brother. We try to dictate sms or other texts to the phone pushing the little microphone button in the virtual keyboard, the input screen with the mic appears but it is crossed out!
How can we make it work?
Thanks!

Bluetooth Tether works OOB with Win7!

FYI, since this is a big reason to need root... I got Bluetooth tethering to work out of the box on Windows 7. Heres to hoping todays(?) patch that contains blutooth "fixes" doesn't break it.
I thinkyou will get charged for that

From what I've heard that's not getting charged.
Using what app?

Not an app. From what I understand you turn on Bluetooth on your cell phone and laptop and connect them and your computer will think it's linked to an access point.

Oh, I see. That seems like you could be charged. =p
Can someone confirm or deny if vzw can tell if you're tethered or they think its just regular phone data usage?

Still works after the update.

Yes, they can tell. Also, these instructions were posted in the Eris forum on AF--don't know if they'll work on the Droid X.

[Q] reverse tethering

So my hero's service was turned off. I'm unable to pay it for a few weeks. So I'm trying to see if there was a way to share my computer internet with my hero. I don't have a router. So basically is there a way to wire tether only in reverse.

Just use wifi... or if you have a mac I know you can "tether" it
Thats the promblem I don't have a wireless router. So I don't have a wifi signal to pick up.

Look for something like "sharing internet connection via USB" or something similar.
Thierry Parent has put up a working solution here ...

Worked great for me !
Cheers,

Wlan_rx_wake... Anyone else??

This seems to be highest on my kernel wakelocks. I searched Google and found out that modifying my wifi network and making it static should do the trick but it didn't work. Anyone else suffering from this problem?

Problem is that the router maybe sending out packets to check on what all devices are still connected and this will vary from router to router and further down to their specific settings ...
It has started happening on my home router but office one is just fine ... so I am going to do some experiments on the home one to find the culprit settings ... its Netgear btw

Try this....
Goto Settings > WiFi > Advanced and set "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to anything but "always"....
see how that works out for you...

Maybe a silly question, but I am always wondering if you turn off WiFi when screen off, will I still receive email if I have push email? Of course assume I don't have 3g enabled.

You're turning of wifi, not cellular data so you'd still get pushes and other stuffs coming in from the web.

I have added an OC kernel to 2.5 which is board level spec for HTC M8. The kernel will run at lowest freq until it is needed or the governor is changed or a boost is called for.
Can't connect to WiFi with OC 2.8.
Does this change your WiFi Mac address?
Moved to General as there is not really any development in this thread...just a link to another thread.
Thanks BD619
I'm running the 2.8 with the frequency lock 2803, with no problems so far, running SuperSix

Had to change my router settings to allow my phone access to WiFi again after flashing. It changed my WiFi Mac address.
Not sure if that's normal, but if you can't connect to the internet after flashing, and you have LAN set up, you'll need to redo router settings.

Sprint Outage

The network went down nationwide right after midnight last night.
Does anyone know what happened, or if Sprint explained the problem?
