I was wondering if there was any way to enable multitouch for the Zio M6000. I looked through the forum and did some searches but wasn't able to find much on that for the Zio.
Thanks
That is something that lies within the kernel. If the hardware can support multiple touch points then we would just need to compile a new kernel and build a boot image and flash to the phone.
It's not that simple. I will try messing with the kernel but honestly have never tried it before. We're lucky to even have an overclocked kernel thanks to Adrynaline.

Yeah I believe I am using his kernal its the openzio kernel one correct? Thanks Hopefully the hardware will support multitouch. I know the Zio isn't as popular as a lot of the other android phones so there is less made for it. Luckily we have some talented people like yourself and Adrynalyne that can help out.
I may be wrong but I am about 95% sure that the Zio's screen is not able to utilize multi-touch.
I talked to kyocera and the hw isn't the issue its the sw

NEED SERIOUS HELP WITH CDMA HERO ON SPRINT. After rooting, downloading ROM Manager, & applying various ROM's due to rebooting issue finally was able to apply Cyanogen Mod version: 6.0.0-Heroc but now I'm totally unable to REACTIVATE MY SERVICE ON SPRINT! I sat on hold with Sprint's supposed "Tech Support" last night for not resolution to the issue. I came to the conclusion that Hero won't accept any provisional programming codes. Anyone, anyone, ANYONE know an answer to this issue, experienced the same issue, have an explanation for this issue? I am a former manager with Sprint so not a complete imbecile with phones/computers/techy. devices but this has me completely baffled & stuck using my old HTC Touch Pro until this issue is resolved. Thanks in advance.

Reactivate your service? Were you trying to activate it after rooting and loading cm6?? aosp does not support ## codes...why don't you load the sprint ruu and then activate your phone and then root, flash a custom recovery (use clockwork in the rom manager app you have) and then load cm6

Thanks!
I really appreciate your suggestion and was wondering if the ROM was unequipped to do any carrier provisioning after-the-fact. I'im definitely going to do as you instructed, which had struck me as an option, but, was a little freaked out to start applying different ROMs not in ROM Manager App since for the most part of the week my "Hero" has been inoperable, unprovisioned, or buggy in one way or another. Will attempt this tonight and post-up the outcome!
You could try Fresh 2.4, its a pretty solid sense based rom....let me know if you need anything else

"Love it when a plan comes together!"
Funny you should mention that, too because I just got done downloading Fresh App. before going to xda to check if anyomore feedback on my post. Thanks, again, for the advice & are going to start on fixing this issue at this very moment.
smathias503
Someone else that I was helping with this same thing flashed the liquid sense rom and got all his missed texts, like I did with fresh then came back to cm6 and everything was fine, so this should solve your problem too, but let me know...

Should've replied earlier but was too busy celebrating the usage of my Hero, again! Lol! So, did as advised above & did esn swap before flashing to Fresh & no problems. Thinking I want to go to Cyanogen instead but a little weary because of previous issues, any advise, should I give it a shot?

I'm glad I was able to help you! I would not hesitate to go to CM now that you are up and running again, it should flash nice and smooth! Let me know if you need any more help!

Hey all, very new here in the android world. Brand new samsung I have and I would like fix the lag in it. I did do the update to froyo through the kies interface. I hear voodoo is the best to fix the lag with but I have not yet rooted my phone, however, on project voodoo.org they say you don't need to. The update.zip is ready escaping me, not sure what they mean by it. I do know the 3 button recovery mode. Buy I am still a noob at this. Please, any help would vastly appreciated.

I would start by reading the Stickies in the development section. Specifically the READ THIS FIRST one. It has a lot of the information you will need.
Cool man, I'll start there first. Thanx.

I'm willing to test any and all roms, themes etc. for any devs. Just let me know. I'll be getting a different phone so I'll just use the Zio as a testing ground!
okay guinea pig... since the rom seems to be deodexed. see if any of the blackbar mods for froyo work
I'm already a step ahead of you. Ill post what works tomorrow.

I would also know how that worked. I would love to have a black bar instead of this grey one.

Sorry for the late reply. I've tested three of the black status bars without any success. Still learning.

Where is the status bar located within the file system? I want to see if there is anything I can do.

I found the location of the status bar. Check my thread for more info. I think we just need to do a little work.

Well Im going to teach myself Java because supposedly it is prerequisite for learning to develope for android. I came across good 101 Java tutorials online. I just really want to mod roms for my zio and maybe even start creating an app.
Any ideas?
I'm currently taking Linux+ so I should be of some help.

Yeah I'm not going to start taking OS classes for my major until I start taking core classes. In either case Im going to start early with Java. My school library has older editions of Java textbooks I think but I'm to check them out AZ well.

You can develop full apps with java and xml for the layout. Being familiar with linux is also a must, since android is just a linux flavor.
http://www.thenewboston.com/ is a great place for a beginner or guru. Tons of video java lessons as well as android development.
Linux has helped me with the file system. Although I still have alot to learn before I am any kind of guru.

everything of importance on android phones is written in java.
But the kernel and file system is Linux based. You have more on your phone that you wouldn't think you would have on a phone.
Sent from my Zio using XDA Premium App
Yes, the OS is linux based, however all the apps are java based.
Here, read this
Its from cyanogen himself. Good place to start if you want to get involved with android.

The Android platform is basically a linux flavor. It contains more then a linux the file system and kernel. Yes exactly what I posted, Java may be used in android development. That is not the only language, There are a few others including C.
Thanks for claryfing the different programming languages and their relevance to the cell phone structure and android OS.
Java and linux are both important for exploiting and developing in other words.

Anybody up for the task of managing to get the instant watch working on our incredibles? Everything else already works
Edit: $15 towards bounty if anyone else wants to
I'd definitely donate for this.
This only work on the Evo roms or will this work on anything for the incredible? I installed the apk but can't seem to get it working. What do I need to do with the DRM odex?
It only works on the revolution. This is a thread deticated to getting it to work on other phones such as the incredible.

Also, I'd gladly put 15 towards a bounty.
According to a post I read somewhere, the apk requires a processor that is netflix supported. So what I'm thinking is that there will either have to be a dirty hack to get it streaming, or a kernel mod to trick it into thinking it is running on the correct cpu. I have no knowledge as to how to do that, but just thought it made sense to throw that out there.

I got it working on mine now. Not the streaming obviously, but the other stuff works.
I'm not running revolution either.

our cpu is compatable, it has some sort of security that has to be built into the cpu and every snapdragon has it pre installed
this apk may not be compiled against our specific cpu so it might not work still but i do know thats why it wont
If you move on over the themes and app section, I already have thread going and will try and give update as I find them.
Would also donate for a fully working app.
Hey guys
Running Android 2.3.5 with the latest version of Thrill Seeker, here:

I was wondering if there was any way to go the lagfix on my phone. I've looked, and I haven't found anything other than OneClickLagFix which doesn't want to work for me.
The main reason I installed the above kernel is the ability to overclock. Which comes in handy when using an N64 emulator in conjunction with the 3D converter. However I figured putting a lagfix would speed my phone up even further. If I could only figure it out!
Search for v6supercharger..follow directions in the thread...I have always had goodluck with it.
