My O2x self bricked after an OTA update (from 10b if I recall correctly). I did not prior to this event flash any other ROM or BB, I just rooted it and everything was working fine. The update downloaded, said it was ready to update, the phone rebooted and then just locked up on "updating software". My friend has an identical P990 and everything went well for him...
I had to reflash the whole phone using USB cable in recovery mode by downloading the 10b stock firmware. After this, the phone won't update itself and if I manually click on the software update it says it's up to date, while my friend received the latest update to 10d. Currently my phone (unbranded) is:
BB v 622 (1035.21_20110622)
kernel 2.6.32.9
Build FRG83G
LGE version LGP990-V10b
Additionally I installed clockworkmod (after bricking) to backup all my phone and then reflashed the stock recovery partition that I found online. Also, I currently can no longer list any "secured" apps from the Android marketplace.
I'd like to bring my phone back to stock situation (which I thought it was) so I downloaded the latest stock (10d) in kdz format from the lg site but before wiping everything again I'd like to know what the hell is going on with my phone and why I see no secured apps and why I get no OTA updates... maybe I can avoid reflashing the phone from scratch.
Thanks for any pointers!
The version of the baseband you are using does not match with the V10B firmware. The update tool then believes you have another firmware version installed.
Thanks for the heads up! What version of baseband should I be using? Or would it be better for me to downgrade the rom? Quicker to change BB I reckon...
i think it is 405 you need to use with 10b
I tried searching for the 405BB but couldn't find it... only the 622 or 725 apparently - does anyone have any link to download the BB aligned to the v10b ROM?
here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070
I flashed 405BB but when I went to download OTA updates it said it wasn't a valid update package after it downloaded it and quit. To fix it I completely flashed stock 10a and did all the updates until 10d and now it has BB 1035.21_20110725.
I have my data.img partition saved with CWM but before restoring it and wiping the stock recovery for CWM I'd like to save it: anyway I can make an img out of the stock recovery partition of this version for safety with adb? As it pulls or pushes files or apks, I was wondering if there was a utility to create a partition image of the stock recovery and save that... I found a stock recovery img but I don't know if the image is up to date with this version (10d).
Thanks for the help!

Hi all,
I tried the cyanogenmod 7.1 but reinstalled an original rom after a while again. Now my phone says I have 2.2.2 with baseband 20110725, kernel 2.6.32.9 , the version is V10b. I remember there was an update to V10d during summertime. I'd like to have the V10d back... if I use the update-tool it says there is no update available and says I have the v10D version , but on the phone it says v10b ??? Can't follow anymore any suggestions how to get the v10d through update ?
Is it necessary to have the v10d if gingerbread ever comes out , or can it update from 10vb to gingerbread as well ?
Cheers !
Denis

BIN_LGP990AT-00-V10d-NEU-XXX-JUL-25-2011+0

Yeah. The settings/about menu will show you the version of the installed ROM, which is still 10b. The LG Update tool checks the version of the baseband, which in your case is newer. (You can see that version in the Hidden Menu, Version Info, Factory Version.)
To update through the LG Update tool you first need to flash an OLDER baseband, then the tool will let you uprade.
(Or you can smartflash an older baseband+rom, to make sure your phone is in a factory state, with stock recovery and no root before upgrading.)
indeed ! but I've figured out that I only flashed the basband and now I just flashed the .bin file too (the rom) and now I've got the V10d back !

Ah, yes ;-) Assuming the ROM you want is already available in a file, that's another way to do it
I found the list with corresponding countries/ROM versions, then it was a piece of cake. Now it's tempting to try the cmod 7.1 again for a bit longer now I found out how to flash
Hello everyone!
Have a froyo 2.2.1
These are the details from my phone (SAMSUNG GALAXY MINI GT-S5570):
Have a baseband S5570XXKA5
with kernel 2..6.32.9-perf
and build number FROYO.XWKAC
from dialing *#1234# got this info:
PDA: S5570XWKAC
PHONE: S5570XXKA5
CSC: S5570TMNKB1
Already have a CWM (ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.0.5)
tried to backup stock rom several times I attach two log files that I extracted.
I am unable to mount (even mannualy) some partitions (if I am reading the logs correctly...)
Does this mean I can't backup stock ROM?
If I do can backup, how should I do it?
Can these errors be related to the fact that I am not using the most recent version of CWM?
I also have another version of CWM for my device. This is a zip file with version 5.0.2.6.
But, as it is a zip file with no IMG file in it, I am afraid that it would harm the phone if I would use it on the CWM recovery that is accessible through boot.
Is it possible to use CWM 4.0.0.5 to update itself?
I tried to use Rom Manager to update CWM (and to backup the rom, and you may very well check that because the names of the logs are different) RM didn't even recognize the already installed CWM, let alone update it or backup the stock rom...
So... can I really update CWM to try that route to backup stock rom?
How to use the zip file? (can I use it with CWM v4.0.0.5 or with ODIN 4.38?)...
I must say that I used ODIN 4.38 to flash the current CWM but the 4.0.0.5 CWM was a tar file.
Finally, all the info that I searched (here and elswhere) says that it is possible to come back to froyo (with the help of samfirmware site) but as I am such a noob I cannot find any ROM that is the same as the one I currently have.
I currently have Titanium Backup installed and it states that the ROM was build on the 2011/02/01 12h12 (can that be of any help to locate the default stock ROM from the ones that are available at SAMFIRMWARE?).
My carrier is TMN from Portugal, but until now, with this info I haven't been able to locate the 'one' ROM that would reassure me that I could upgrade and still have plenty of odds to come back to the startup 'scenario'.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

No, you can't backup stock rom.

Thank you for the answer.
Hello thadead,
Yours is a very assertive answer. So I don't have any chance...
But with the info I gave, can I have the 'stock' ROM from samfirmware???
And just some doubt: how did samfirmware got the so called stock roms in the first place?
Thanks for any assistance.
Samfirmware probably could have ripped from Kies update I guess. Not sure though!
Sent from SGM
here some infos on how i made a backup of my roms...
only need to say that you cannot spli CSC and /system, as in original ROMS.
another way can be to check with "check fus downloader" for you rom...
let us know...
Thank you all for all your input!
Will read as thoroughly as I can
Cheers!

Welcome! to xda-forums. If I can guess it correct then I know you ( I don't want to name you here for your privacy concern).
So, after some research around, I found it very difficult to find a firmware for your TMN device. However, I suggest you try another sim card and see if your device is sim unlocked or not.
If you phone is sim locked either wait for TMN to upgrade your rom or just unlock it. Also, since you said you have CWM v4, is it in Froyo that you have to the rom? If yes then I suggest you have CWM v5 and try to do a nandroid backup [I believe v5 will work since v4 worked]. If you are already on GB rom then try flashing a custom rom.
More talk when I hear from you!
Will try your suggestions

Hello Yagya!
Yes you got it right! (It's who you think it is...)
Now, yes, it's on froyo that I have the CWM (4.0.0.5 that you have on your blog on the tools section, I found that out by comparing md5 hash from the one that I had downloaded from bunnybugs_007 tutorial).
But I am curious to what makes you think version 5 would work on my froyo? Isn't v5.0.2.6 designed for GB or later??? And also isn't v.5.0.2.6 a buggy version?
Summing up: You say I should try v5.0.2.6 out. Should I use my zip file (which I downloaded from clockworkmod site), and use the option '(..)update.zip' from the CWM recovery itself, or should I flash your recovery.tar.md5 that you linked on your blog, doing it with ODIN?
This question is puzzling me: can CWM be used to 'update' itself on its own recovery mode???? Am almost sure it is impossible... and scares me to try...
Besides, the CWM zip file that I've gotten from Koush site doesn't have an IMG file in it, but only folders and such...
Finally I am sure I have the android simlocked (because I've just checked it)...
Will try then to unlock if that is the scenario...
If the carrier would be more thoughtful I would be less troubled...
Thanks...
Hi I have the Czech version - KK5 firmware.
Today, on my phone I got a notification saying there's an update (about 70mb).
I downloaded it and tried to install it but when it rebooted, it said it was unsuccessful and that I should try with Kies again on PC companioin.
Now, is this because I rooted my phone? I currently have the original firmware rooted with CWM.
And I don't want to lose the root.
So should I go ahead and connect it to the computer and go through Kies?
Is there any other reason for my OTA update not working?
Thanks!

You can flash firmware with CWM and MobileOdinPro and keep root and CWM, read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784.
Download your firmware from Sammobile.com, unzip it and place it on your external sd-card and flash it.
You can not update officially through Kies/Fota when you have custom rom/kernel or root privileges afaik
Or just grab the stock Czech one from this thread (or any other stock, it ll be fine)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
I have the stock czech that's on the site, but the new update came out today so i don't see the update in that link
can I just update to any other latest stock firmwares there?
Yes you can, I jumped between different stocks, from different countries (my main is United Arab Emirates), used Turkish and German with no issues so dont worry, just use Mobile Odin Pro (with everroot on) or CWM to retain the root , refer to the the previously posted link by Myamo for the CWM method (i would recommend mobile odin pro though, much easier and lazier well worth the money ^^)
I`m from Serbia, I made a backup with nandroid on my LG P990 , after that i`ve updated using kdz to v20m version. As i had some problems i flashed back the v20l i had via clockworkmod. Now i have unrooted my phone, connected to pc, fired up the updater, and it says that i have the latest v20m, duobble checked the phone, it reports v20l. How could i force the updater to perform the update to v20m ?

You need to flash an older baseband.
Flashed 1035.21_20110614 baseband. Now the phone reports LGE version v20l, but the LGMobile Support Tool is reporting Version V10C, and says that the cell phone is the latest version already, and that i dont need to update.
Is this means, that for my phone the latest update is V20L ?
Thanks.

I'm on V20g here in the UK so I would of thought that if your phone say V20L you will have the most upto date rom.
I have just checked and there is no updates for me either saying my phone is upto date.
Most probably i will have to wait for an update. Tried to flash the v20q.kdz tried both methods, with and without http server. It is always asking for internet connection... Now flashed another baseband, updater reports v10d phone reports 1035.21_20110725 iirc this baseband version is in v20l. I desperately want to solve the GPS lock problem, but maybe i still have to wait. Unless i try to flash the V20M via clockwork, i`ve done before, but i dont remember is it working there.
Hi
First of all, I come from the Archos world so Samsung is a bit strange for me.
I live in Morocco and I run an old firmware. It is rooted with zergrush and has got CWM and mobile odin. My GN is now on KK2/KK5/KK2 and it aqked me to do an update : LA1/LA4/LA1. I tried through FOTA but it failed in recovery (well at boot). My first questions are about this firmware : should I do it by kies or will it be the same? Does the update deletes root? (then could anyone tell me where to get the firmware to flash in ODIN) Does the update wipes data partition or resets Android (as in deletes settings accounts apps)?
Then I would like to get the ICS update as soon as it gets out. Does it require the update above? I tried to get info about it on Sammobile.com but I can't manage to find my product code in any of the firmwares (MAT - Rare?) but I see that there is another update for Morocco (product code FWD). Then same questipns as above : can I flash it through Odin directly?
Sorry for my bas English and for the noob questions as I'm not used to the large number of versions firmwares.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
The reason the update fails is probably because you're rooted and have CWM installed.
When you update through Odin you will lose root. The easiest way to update to an official rom is by flashing a pre-rooted firmware with Odin from the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
You can pick any rom you'd like. You can find the LA4 update there but you can also flash LC1 which is a newer version.
After you have succesfully flashed with Odin you have a rooted firmware but no CWM yet. To get CWM you need to download a separate package from the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18978158&postcount=1
Scroll down a bit to section "2. I Want ROOT + CWM" and download the appropriate package. If you chose to flash LA4 then get the package for LA4, if you flashed LC1 then get the package for LC1 etc.
Extract the package you downloaded and execute "already-rooted.bat" and CWM will be flashed.
After that you have an updated and rooted firmware with CWM recovery.
Thanks for your reply. So basically I just need to get back to a stock rooted and then reinstall CWM?
But then I will still have the issue when updating to ICS right?
Ps : I see the LC1 version but it says France. Will I be able to flash it? (then maybe also the ICS after because the France and Moroccan have the same version LPY or sonething)
