ADB Errors - Motorola Droid 3

so, stupid question time.
i've used ADB in the past and its worked great so not sure whats going on this time around.
I get the following errors when trying to start adb:
"daemon still not runningerror: cannot connect to daemon"
I have installed moto drivers for droid 3 (32bit), im on win7 32bit. I have my phone on dev mode, and charge only. I have run CMD with admin rights. and still ADB wont turn on.
I have also tried using the new one click method:
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=3714&p=75934
anyone have some direction? I did kill adb from my running processes (all instances) and tried all over, no go, same error.
help?

Did you put the phone is PC Mode as opposed to USB Mass Storage?

its supposed to be done in Charing only mode, the issue isn't on my phone setup, it got to do with my darn computer, I can even do an adb devices command... may have to remove the sdk completely and start over.

Put in charge only, use one click method
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium

did you change directory in cmd to the folder that adb is in?
...I had to change to the folder like this cd\program files (x86)\android\android-sdk\platform-tools

The one-click root method is bundled with adb.exe. Except for the driver and a USB cable, it contains everything needed to root.

Lost ADB Access...

Hi.
I don't know what happened, but I cant access my phone via adb anymore. I've used adb for months with no problem so far.
The Device is shown in windows xp as "Android Composite ADB Device". I uninstalled an reinstalled the drivers. But ADB and other apps like ddms don't recognize the device anymore.
I'm not sure, but perhaps the problem exists since I installed the modem-driver to use USB-tethering.
USB-Debugging is enabled too...
Does anyone have an idea?
I'm using cyan 4.3.2.1.
Try unplugging your phone, turning it off, on, let it load up, connect it to your comp, wait a good minute or two for it too load up, double check USB debugging, etc. etc.
If it still doesn't work, boot into recovery, connect it, and try adb shell there. ( assuming you have cyan's recovery, or that other custom one, Idr the name xD )
If none of that works, try to re-root using this;
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Upgrading_From_Older_CyanogenMod_Versions
Make sure to backup and stuff, etc. etc.
Hope I helped!

thx a lot for the quick answer, but I tried all of this. In the Recovery (Amon Ras' I recognized the first time, that adb doesn't work)
I can't believe, that I have to re-root... Recovery and SU are still working.
Any other experience with the problem?
p.s.: I unchecked the USB-Tethering and already uninstalled the modem-driver without success...
That's weird, you sure your in the right area on your cmd prompt?
x:\xx\android\tools adb shell
You could also try adb remount and see what that gives you.
I'm just learning the real ADB commands, forgive me, I'm no master
Edit: Make sure to unplug your phone before you uninstall the USB/ADB drivers, and make sure you uninstall *everything* that has android or HTC on it from the device manager.

you gave the right advice...
it's weird. I set adb as variable in windows environment and it worked till today.
Now I started a command prompt in another folder with adb in it and started adb... and it works. weird. I already uninstalled the drivers with usbdeview, restarted etc. a several times and it didn't work. Just use another adb-command finally worked...
thx

adb devices
adb server is out of date. killing...

Yeah, that happens to me sometimes, where it says the device didn't ACK, or something, but I just unplug it, plug it back it in, and wait a good minute it works flawlessly.
I guess our G1's just get moody sometimes, I know I would if someone changed my innerds and outterds on a regular basis xD

[Q] adb devices doesn't recognize n1

Been trying to root N1(FRG83) without unlocking bootloader. Downloaded android-sdk to c: drive and downloaded usb driver.
When I boot the N1 into fastboot mode and type fastboot from the cmd prompt on the computer it sees the phone and gives me the serial (HT****)
When I try the same thing from ADB (ADB devices) it doesn't recognize the phone. I just get a blank line and go back to the command prompt. I've tried this on 2 machines (1 Vista the other Windows 7) and get the same results.
The frustrating thing is that I actually had the phone recognized with the ADB devices command when I first set it up but got called away from the computer and never had a chance to run the rooting routine.
Anybody out there solved this problem?? All help appreciated.
Thanks.
download and install the sdks and nexus ine drivers manually.
thanks but no luck
Downloaded drivers as you suggested but no luck. Also tried reinstalling sdk. Debugging is on, Java is installed, I'm out of ideas for the moment.

Del everything...restart your pc, and download the drivers and sdk..it'll take a few more mins.
When this happened to me, I restarted my PC and it worked.

If I recall correctly, adb won't work while the phone is in fastboot mode - and that fact that your fastboot commands work fine indicates that it shouldn't be a driver issue. Make sure you're running the adb commands when your phone is actually booted (at least to recovery).
If the phone is recognized by the computer via usb, but the adb does not see the phone connected, you just may need to simply delete and reinstall the latest USB driver that is offered.
There is actually an issue with Nexus One's where the adb composite interface doesn't work. It seems related to the issue with the broadcom driver and the mac address starting with 38.
See here - http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9437 - for more info.
I have now upgraded to frg83 and it works fine.

[Q] No adb access.....

Once i got my new nook color i rooted it with auto nooter, and im running 1.0.1, on my previous nook i rooted it and adb worked right then, now i cant get adb access, im using the same computer and everything, all thats diferent is its a new nook. I have full root access and can install apps and everything. Any help?
Seems to be a common problem. You can launch NookColorTools and fix it temporarily. Go to "Development" and then unchecked and then recheck the USB Debugging box.
Ok I've been doing that for a while and finnaly got the message that USB debugging is only for development. It works now......

Get ADB wireless, it works great.
I've had zero luck using usb adb, but adb wireless works great!
I was having similar issues so after many many attempts I just decided to go with adb wireless and would definitely recommend going that route if you can't get it working over usb.
Yeah, getting ADB to work requires a lot of uninstalling/reinstalling drivers and unplugging/replugging the device, it's very temperamental.
can someone link me to a link on how to use/setup adb wireless

it's free in the market and once you download it set up is easy. i've used it through my mac terminal as well as through ubuntu. like the posters above i had the hardest time getting adb to work via usb.

once you've installed adb on your computer type "adb" at your terminal prompt and you should list of commands there.
here's the link to Android Developer's ADB website (this also lists commands):
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html
files and installation directions can be found here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Good luck!
Ok so me being my dumb self forgot to install the adb drivers for the nook....... im dumb haha, but i cant get them to install, every time i uninstall the mass storage driver so i can install the proper driver it automatically re-installs it....... HELPPPPPPP
Is there any way to download this to the SD and install it from there? I've upgraded to a version of froyo, which doesn't have the market, and my command line won't work after swapping nooks.
I can't seem to get mine to work with either adbwireless or via usb.
Using USB I get this:
C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>
Here is what I get if I try to connect using adbwireless:
C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb connect 192.168.2.4:5555
already connected to 192.168.2.4:5555
C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
192.168.2.4:5555 device
C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>
But it doesn't show a serial number like all the HowTo's says it should. What am I missing?
EDIT: HALLELUJAH!!
I fixed it. Actually I didn't fix it, I just followed some instructions from another user that was having the same problem and finally figured out the very weird thing that installing the drivers did. Anyway, here is the solution from hacku:

I followed your instructions to a T and I still can't get ADB to see my NC. After uninstalling all instances of Nook in my device manager, unplugging it and plugging it back in, it adds all the same devices:
Under Disk Drives it lists B&N Ebook Disk USB Device (twice)
Under Portable Devices it lists MyNookColor
Under USB Controllers it lists USB Mass Storage Device
My PC is Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Running Nook Color 1.1.0 rooted and overclocked to 1.1Ghz. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
EDIT 2:
So I decided to pull the MicroSD card to simplify things. Uninstalled all instances of Nook from Device Manager and scanned for new hardware. This time I noticed that Windows detected it as a Nook, but then would install the drivers and it would show the same USB Mass Storage Device and the two instances of B&N Disk USB Device. I also noticed that by uninstalling the driver of the USB Mass Storage Device automatically deleted the other two instances under Disk Drives. So I updated the USB Mass Storage Device driver and this time I was able to install the drivers provided, but now it only shows up as an Android Phone > Android ADB Interface (not Composite), but I'm still not able to see it under adb devices.
Help?
EDIT 3:
GOT IT WORKING!!!
For those of you having this same problem this is what I did:
1. Right Click Android ADB Interface (it won't say Composite)
2. Select Update Update Driver Software
3. Click on Browse My Computer For Driver Software
4. Click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
5. In the box that pops up click on USB Composite Device
6. Click Next
It now installed the USB Composite Device driver and changes your Android Phone to Android Composite ADB Device.
Open up Command Prompt and type adb kill-server then adb devices and your Nook Color will now show up.
Hope this helps some of you out.
This thing really needs to be pinned somewhere, preferably with IOMonster's first post. There's so many of us starting on this from scratch not able to get adb to see the device. har02's crosspost of hacku's post is what finally got it to work for me. there's a ton of junk out there that just doesn't make sense, and the installing the second driver on the "android interface" is a step that is completely missing from just about every post on this topic.
Aside from that, this forum is what got me buying a nook and happily learning all sorts of cool new things!
THANK you so much har02052, this marks the end of a 6 hour nook-fixing marathong....ahhhhh

[Q] ADB Issue - device offline

A couple of days ago I flashed Eclipse v2.0, wanting to change my phone up a bit I had been on shift3r for a few weeks. Anyways, just now I was trying to copy some modules into my /system/lib/modules to overclock my device and was having issues copying within my phone. So I tried to use an adb shell to do so, but I keep getting the output of the device being offline, this is what I'm getting:
-NV57H:~$ adb devices
List of devices attached
0A3BAF200C014015 offline
And I have done a search, where some people were having trouble using certain cords, mainly with Samsung devices, and switched cords with success. This does not apply in this situation as I have used adb many times with the cord I'm using, and also I did try to switch cords anyways. Also the only other thing I saw was a situation involving driver installation and re-installation creating problems. As I am on Lubuntu, and not Windows, this does not apply to the situation because I have neither installed or re-installed drivers. My adb is setup properly because I have been using this computer for a couple weeks now and it was working previously. Any ideas on anything that could have happened? or maybe I should switch ROMs?
additionally: on my file manager, in the address bar for my device when it is plugged up, it is seeming odd to me, this is now what the address is showing for my device's sdcard:
gphoto2://[usb:002,007]/
I think I might have messed something up on my Bionic. If you read the first post I was saying how I tried adb on the same computer I've been using, AFTER flashing Liberty. Well I've gotten rid of Liberty and went back to SHIFT3R to try to fix the problem, and my problem is still looming. I have tried on Lubuntu and Windows, and my girlfriend's Incredible 2 works on both of the OS's with the same cables I'm using as well. I remember the other day when I was flashing Liberty, I had to mount my USB while in recovery to move the file onto my SDCARD because it had vanished once I tried looking for it to flash it. I remember when I tried to eject my phone from my computer (lubuntu), it said that it was busy and could not unmount the phone, after the file transfer screen went away as well. And then I waited a few minutes and tried again, it said the same thing, but I unplugged the cable anyways and unmounted USB in recovery. The file flashed fine so I know it was not still transferring the zip file. If anyone knows what I may have done or what I may be able to do to fix this let me know. I just wanted to update the thread with my most recent trials and errors in fixing it. Thanks to anyone who can guide me. I have never had issues with adb before.
O man i really hope someone can help us with this issue.
I have the same problem..
I am trying to use the path saver, and it keeps telling me device offline.
RSD lite won't even recognize it.
HELP!!!
Me too
I had the same problem... I wanted to upgrade the radio on my Bionic to the .901 load... I could not get adb to see my device.
Using Windows 7 64 bit (Ultimate).
RSD Lite would not recognize device either.
Decided "Screw it", I'll just go back to my nandroid backup... which didn't work either.... soooo... here I am.... stuck.
Off to google I went... I don't know which of these fixed it, but it is working now... here is what I did.
Found a thread that stated "run your commands from the 'C:\platform-tools' directory... so I took all of the files from the "Bionic Path Saver 1" and copied and pasted them into this directory.
Secondly, instead of just double clicking the upgrade batch file (runmebbb.bat) like I was before, I opened a DOS command shell -IN ADMINISTRATOR MODE- and ran the batch file from there.
It immediately kicked off and I was off and running.
For those of you that don't know what I am talking about, I was upgrading... using instructions from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433783
I hope this helps... it bugged the crap out of me... but the feeling of relief certainly makes up for it.
Well the thing is it doesn't work on windows or Linux with my bionic. I've tried various Android devices that I own and all of them work on both of my operating systems except for my bionic

I just installed Eclipse 2.2 on my Bionic and now i am getting the same issue. Has anyone found an answer or a fix for this? Also, does the .902 patch have anything to do with it? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Once i had this problem the only way i fixed this was by using RSDLite to flash a FXZ. Changing ROMs didnt work, nothing worked but that. It wont affect RSD reading the phone in AP Fastboot mode. Just make sure you install moto drivers and have the newest version of RSD Lite. That worked for me, now I have my adb back

Are you using Safestrap recovery? If so I think that may be the issue.
Try downloading "ADB Over Wifi" from the market.
Then "adb connect iport"
The widget should show you ip/port when you activate it.
Bionic 2.2 Eclipse adb device offline
Hello,
I am having the same problem. I'm using Safestrap. Droid Bionic on the 902 update, rooted with Eclipse 2.2. Everything is fine except adb shows my device as offline. I've looked on this forum and searched and it's not the cable. Also ADB over WIFI does not work. I'm not sure why it has the result it does there should not be 2 ports...
COMMAND: adb connect 10.0.2.2:5555

First of all, it automatically adds 5555 into your address so instead use
Adb connect 10.0.2.2 or whatever your ip is. And as far as not showing your device with a USB cord, try various other cables. I have over ten cables and maybe two work with my bionic. I urge you to use as many as possible before my next recommendation. This problem screwed with me for a couple months and finally i booted into fastboot mode and FXZd my phone. I booted my phone up after that and adb worked perfect. I don't know what causes this.

Eventually I discovered why adb wasn't working. Apparently there was no adb daemon running. I came across this in a different thread awhile back. Once I copied it to my phone's /sbin/ directory (there was a link to the file in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974824) and ran adbd from a terminal I could use logcat. However it was removed everytime the phone cycles power so only a temporary fix. I was considering trying another rom instead of eclipse 2.2. It was also buggy in that when I tried to do an adb install it broke terminated the daemon.
If you're using linux I always do "sudo adb start-server"

Need Help please [solved] !!!

I have Imilika's AOSP ICS ROM V6,
I changed the buid.prop
ro.sf.lcd_density=213
for tablet mode. after I reboot, my GNote is not booting. I cannot go to recovery mode or download mode.
Please help. I don't know what to do
Got it
OK, I was really sad about what happens to my phone, but finally I managed to fix it .
As I told you, my phone was not booting to recovery or download modes (key combinations not worked). finally I try to connect to PC via USB and luckily my PC could detect my phone . So i realized that the problem is the display not coming but phone is halfway booted.
So, I tried to change my build.prop via adb but failed due to cannot grant root permission (becoz display is off).
Finally I issue a adb commad to reboot in recovery mode.
"adb reboot recovery"
yeah, that command directly take me to the CWM recovery. then I flash AOSP v6 again.
Now, my phone is working again.
P.S. I just note this down for others if they get same problem future !
I have question.. I don't understand the term adb. What that actually and why need that? I did so many flashing so far and I didn't use this adb yet!

If you don't know what ADB is, you probably shouldn't be flashing so regularly. Anyway, ADB stands for "Android Debug Bridge" and it is a protocol for device control, development, and debugging.

adb is a connection type. we can run shell commands (in the phone), file transfer via adb by using our PC. for that we should have to enable usb debug mode in our mobile.
Actually you might used adb, when you root your phone in the first place . If you have CF-Root zip file, just extract it. you will see a folder called "files", in there you can see adb.exe .
If you need test run,
connect phone via USB(make sure you've enabled USB debug), open command prompt, navigate to that "files" directory.
run "adb shell ls" (to run "ls" command in phone)
run "adb push <anyfile in the PC> /system/sdcard/" (copy files from PC to sdcard)
like that
OK now I got it.. But why do we need to push some file like this when we are able to transfer files like mass storage??? Or what else can be done??? Sorry for the basic questions..

Its functionality is not only to copy files from pc to mobile and vice versa. You can use it to get logs due to bad flashing, zip align apps, reboot into recovery,DL mode, normal reboot etc...
