Slow 4g speed - LG Revolution

I've tried the Charge and Thunderbolt along with the Revo, and for some reason the 4g on the Revo is less that half the speed of the other devices using the Speedtest app. Someone on another forum commented about this as well. Do you folks think this is a radio issue that can be fixed? Otherwise, I'll be taking the Revo back.
Thanks!

What is your dl speed because in all honesty any dl above 3 MB/sec is overkill. Here in SE TX mine avgs. 8 down/5 up. Try another server it does vary greatly. Remember it is a burst speed and is dependant on how many users are on a tower plus other factors beyond your control. A true OC-3 speed of 20 down /20 up runs about $20,000 a month for a business.

I'm always between 8 - 11 down and 4 - 6 up out here in Charleston, SC

Average 4G speed around my home is 8-12 dwn, 5-9 up.

Verizon probably has run their own fiber to their towers... and they are probably running OC-12 or 24 lines.
Hehehe... had to block the isp, as we are our own... That is shared with 1500 other users...

4G LTE in Milwaukee is VERY fast.
Near the airport, strong constant 20-30mbps and 4-9mbps up.
I have yet to venture to Madison yet or Wisconsin Dells, as those are the other two major city's in WI to have LTE setup.
on a side note, I will say with my first LG which was borked and stuck with the stock shipping software my downloads were some what slower then my new one with the current stock software. 15mbps max on the old software and 30mbps with the new software.

Well I know T-Mobile is rolling out full HSPDA in some area's. So might be why you are getting a boost in speeds. With 2 bars of 3g signal im getting 761 down 709 up. And I am in the 1B floor of a big building.
ok something isnt right here.....downloaded the speedtest.net app.
this is after a reboot:

i'm not gonna argue it. even if these speedtests are totally off i definately am noticing a difference
It's just a good HSDPA speed. If you weren't seeing it before - it means you have never been near HSDPA-capable base station.
I'm from Austin too...and just like you I was only getting 6-700 down and 2-300up. Now 2.19mb down and 1.3-1.4mb up. That's with only 2 bars here at work now. I'l go out side later and test. I get full bars out side and at home.
Your speeds are what I see everyday here on ATT in socal, so your area prob just got upgraded. But your ping certainly is impressive.
Yes, faster in Houston
Yesterday I noticed my speed was very fast here in Houston on T-Mobile 3G. I didn't think much more about it until about an hour ago and realized it was really fast. I did a speedtest and was pleasantly surprised. I'm getting great download speeds! I knew they were rolling out 4g in the Austin area but I wasn't expecting it here in Houston.
I used to range from 400 - 800 (using the latest froyo radio on 2.2). Today, I'm getting 1141 - 3500! I'm so happy.

New to AT&T and LG Thrill

I was just curious as to what download and upload rates everyone's getting.

I'm getting anywhere between 1.5Mbps and 3.5Mbps I just made the switch from T-Mobile and a Mytouch 4G where I was getting upwards of 5Mbps no matter where I was and sometimes close to 10Mbps. I have to admit I'm kinda disappointed, I can't even watch HQ YouTube videos without pausing the video and letting it load. : /

Live on the very edge of "4G" coverage according to at&t map. Can go fro one side of room to other and not even get 3g. Totally stock and unrooted, so the settings for full "4g" are not on.have got up to 8mb when closer to town.

To continue for the closed thread in the dev section.
Hello, my name is quarlow, and I'm a flashaholic.
The i777 (original Galaxy S II) is the premier flashaholics phone. Not only is there 5 stock based ROMs, there is CM7 and MIUI, plus its the only US version that can port i9100 ROMs to. The skyrocket may be the same ghost town as the Thrill. Its a good phone with a niche feature. Thrill has 3D, skyrocket has LTE. But in every other way the i777 is a better phone. None of the i777 devs will be moving, they have all confirmed staying with the i777.
If you really want LTE, and live in an LTE area get the vivid. I bet the vivid will pick up the Inspire crowd. But, it still remains to be seen if the vivid has an unlocked bootloader, so it may be just as bad as the skyrocket.
On a side note I see the same speed on my i777 that I saw on my Thrill. About 2-3 Mbps down, 1.5 up. In my area they have HSPA+, and those speeds are 50-75% higher than what I got on my captivate is the same place.

Canadian Note4 LTE performance. Rogers, Bell, Telus.

First off I'm in the GTA of Southern Ontario. I've used/tested tons of phones from the Captivate up to the Note4 on different carriers from London to Ottawa.
I've done posts before too but like to see the change over time and I have to admit the major carriers here have expanded quite well over the past few years and the performance has been incredible.
As well, it is true that the phone itself and it's hardware really affects what kind of DL speeds you will get.
I'm mostly on Rogers in the Toronto area and have got some amazing speeds (on certain towers). There really is a massive difference from area to area and tower to tower.
I could give you the top ten towers that easily get over 100+ mbps and probably would do 250+ once the carriers activate the latest cat6 LTE.
******
So post some of your experiences and screenshots of speed tests. What carrier and general area if wanted. I use apps that tell me the exact tower I'm connected to. Your signal level too if wanted.
All of my crazy high tests are (obviously full signal bar connection) but I check actual number level and try to be between - 60 and - 77 dBm. Keep in mind most phones hit 4 bars at - 85 (lower the better.. - 50 being perfect) although the Note 4 uses a slightly different scale.
Here are a few tests I did recently on a couple (really good) towers around me.

FYI.. I find the Ookla Speedtest.net app is the best but keep in mind that top performance changes from server to server and time of day.. As well, be aware that when blazing over 100+ mbps you will use up 115+ mB's per test!
Here are the better more consistent servers I use for top tests.
For Toronto - Start and Nexicom seem to be best.
Montreal has several good ones but Fibrenoire is typically amazing.
Speedtest.net in Washington used to be poor.. Strange as it's their testing app and would figure it would be tops but now is much better. I can get 100+ often.
Georgian college in Barrie is usually good as is TowerStream in New York.
Bell/North Bay, Lightspeed/Canton, TimeWarner/Syracuse and University of Flint all can go 100+ too but are sometimes much lower at points during the day.

Where? And wow I guess I do need an upgrade. Regular 4g is slow compared to that!

Use DL Booster and you can see speeds like 75+ Mbps! Depends on Wifi+LTE speed though.
are you in a wideband area or is this only with the download booster (wifi+lte)
I was actually able to hit 100mbps on the T mobile network no download booster on speedtest. Ya i know doesnt mean much without a picture but I'm at work. Either way I was amazed

Jeeze, the most I have ever gotten on Tmo in my entire life is like 30mbs down, lol.. is that a constant speed?
100mbps? I'd have to see it to believe it. I have gotten over 50 before, but nothing close to a 100. I have gotten over 75 with Verizon. Honestly, it's fast but not like a huge difference from 30 imho.

Here you go I was blown away. My T-Mobile service has been better where I live than my Verizon service stronger signal and faster data.
I couldn't figure out how to upload a picture so here's a link from my result that I shared to Ookla. In that area it was pretty constant between 80-100mbps. At home I only get 10, but that's about as low as it gets in my area.

Well, I guess I shall eat crow. That's impressive!

[Q] Verizon S8+ WiFi connection slow?

Hello guys,
I have been a long time member of this great community with many devices through the years, but due to being busy with life and work did not get to be the daily lurker around here any more
Sorry if this has been asked many times.
I have Verizon Fios 150/150 at home, and use Verizon wireless router around the apartment. Every wireless device I have (laptops, iPads, wife iPhone) score nice 130-150mbps on my wireless network, only my new S8+ struggles around 30-40 download and 90-100 upload. And downloading apps from Google store is a pain in the rear. On 4G LTE it flies through the downloads..
My device is stock, unrooted and on last AQG4 update.
Is this a common issue with this phone?
My last T-Mobile S5 was way faster on my same speed WiFi.
Thanks guys!

Nope! It should not be a common issue! In fact, I just ran a speed test on mine. I got 94 Mbps down and 35 up. I only have 100 Mbps service though. Are you sure you're using the AC 5 GHz band of your router? If not you may be limited for 54 Mbps.
