Hello everybody,
Zemote is a Zune remote (and there you got the name ) to control your music playback with your Windows Phone! You can now sit back and relax while using your phone as a music remote for your PC.
Zemote features:
Play, pause, skip and previous command
Turn repeat and shuffle on and off
Change volume or mute
Find songs in a track list
Use the album view to find songs of a particular album
Search everything you want with a custom search
Nice and easy-to-use interface in Metro UI style, mixed with our own style
For more information, you can always take a look on our website here.
If you want to see how it looks, you can check out the attached screenshots below.
I'm sorry, but...
This app comes at a price. You will need $1.99 to buy it in the Marketplace. That's because I really like WP7 and I'd like to buy me one of those shortly
If you like this, you cannot donate to me, but however you can recommend Zemote to all of your friends and family, and that could be a donation too.
You can like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter if you want to stay updated on this. Or just subscribe to this thread.
Greetings,
MadMatt, DreamDevelopment.

That's true. It's currently being certified. I will release it as soon as Mango is launched and my app has been certified. You will see an update in this topic when the app is released.
Ah I see, well Im still excited for this app. I have been wanting something like this for a while(nothing else works well or looks good) and yours looks great! I have Mango running on my DVP, so my money is wanting for you on the release of the app! lol

lol Well, I hope I can get my app verified on Friday, and they are rumoured to release Mango on Sept 1. So, maybe we're there on Sept 2.
I like the idea, though It would be nice if the app itself could look a bit more Zune like. I'll still probably grab it at some point.
Your app name is a little misleading because there is a quite popular gaming controller called zeemote. Just my 5 cent...

Oops, that wasn't what we wanted. But I took a look in the Marketplace and there is no Zeemote for WP7 available, so it isn't very confusing. Is it?

Well, ideally something like Zune Remote or something similar would be better... but I'm pretty sure I remember "Zune" being a reserved word, so I understand.
Zemote isn't bad though. Either way, I can't wait until it hits the marketplace
Sounds awesome! Zune is an amazing player but it's crippled by lack of global hotkeys. This software effectively negates this issue, kudos to you!
Great news! Zemote is NOW available in the Marketplace! Enjoy! =)
And the better news: it's only $1,99!

only Europe maybe? It's not showing up here in marketpace on the device or on Zune client. ok, can get it via the link, but no try before buy, hmm
just tried the PC server application. It calls up Zune opens a window that I have to double click a song and then the connect dialog should come up. When I double click a song something opens for a split second and disappears and nothing else happens.
Windows 7 64bit, installed the 64 bit version, Zune Client 4.8.2345. There one instance of ZemotePC in the process list. No connect dialog window as shown in the window shows up. I disabled firewall and av to make sure it's not blocked. What port is it using btw.?
I'm having issues on Win7 64 bit as well. First the software freezes my Zune software for a good while. After a bit (only because I was patient and didn't kill the process) I can double click a song like the prompt asks and then I get the connect splash with my computer name. I type it in my phone and receive a connection error. Any advice?
There is one point of feedback I can give right now. I honestly don't like how the Zemote software sorta hijacks the Zune software and Zune is shown as a Zemote.exe process. Would hope for tighter integration than that.

It's almost identical to the Zune music player interface on a Windows Phone

I'm sorry but "hi-jacking" the Zune process is the only way to get control over the player. That won't change anytime soon...
If you're having a huge library, it's possible you'll need some patience (I'm thinking of more than 2000 songs). I should do better "please wait" integration
Connection errors are probably caused because your phone and PC are not both on WiFi. Make sure your phone is not using the 3G-network. Also, if connection then still doesn't work, you can use the IP address. Should be fine.
Thanks everybody for giving feedback, this is an important resource!
Sweet!
Just purchased this on the marketplace and it works great (Win7 Ultimate x64/ Zune 4.8.2345.0/ HD2 Mango). I've been waiting for a Zune remote control app so am delighted that this has been released.
I simply added the PC Zemote app to my firewall exeptions list and it connected in seconds.
It would be great to be able to select Artists in the same way we can select Albums. That would then bring up all albums by that artist and you can then select the album, and then song. The only other suggestions, for future updates, would be to allow Zemote to run in background on WP7, so you don't have to reconnect when you resume (if thats possible on Mango), and an autoconnect option so the app connects to your nominated PC as soon as you launch it.
Great work and congratulations to all involved on making this fantastic app.
Thankyou.

Pretty cool. Works with my G1 and Cyanogen 4.1.99. Try it out.
http://rapidshare.com/files/305341350/PersonalPortal.apk
Recently some of the system dumps from the upcoming Motorola Sholes/Tao/Droid hit the Developer community, and they have been trying to piece the puzzle together of what the Motorola Sholes/Tao/Droid is all about. We got our hands on a new app which looks like it will be front and center when the device finally hits the shelves, Motorola Phone Portal.
Those that remember using the Motorola Phone Tools app to hack their Motorola’s back in the day (I’m getting all “Ahmad – Back in the Day” about my v600, v810, and RAZR) will instantly recognize this little gem, but it’s been updated for Android and provides some pretty cool functionality. Basically, Motorola Phone Tools (MPP) serves as an all-in-one phone manager that allows users to easily view, edit, create, delete, and play their contacts, ringtones, photos, wallpaper, and media. The key difference now is, the app is web-based and you log into your phone from directly from your browser! No installing “modems” and drivers on your Windows machine (painful), just fire up the app and press the “Connect with Wi-Fi button. When you press the button, the app prompts you to either turn on Wi-Fi, or connect over USB. For this experiment, I chose Wi-Fi.
MPP lets you add/edit/delete/browse your contacts, photos, bookmarks, browser history, and media in an easy-to-use interface. Playing media directly from the device in the browser worked very well, and the picture viewer/slideshow feature is pretty damn cool. So with MPP you’ll be able to play/show-off your media anywhere from any browser. If Moto adds a Social/Sharing aspect to this, they will have a winner on their hands.
So there you have it kids, a little taste of what’s to come with the Sholes/Tao/Droid. The original Moto Phone Tools was a pretty handy app (when it worked), and the new MPP looks to be just as functional, if not more so. I am sure it will help a lot of users manage their contacts/media/content when it gets released, and the ability to do slideshows and play media from your device directly from your browser is pretty slick. I hope Moto adds more features and functionality to it as time goes on, but this seems like a sign of good things to come. Grab the .apk file below and play away!

Doesn't work on my hero
It asks to activate wi-fi even if it is already active. Tried to start-stop wifi before and after i opened the application. any guess?
Thank you!!
Ok, I figured how to make it working, the phone must be connected to a network to be used, but I though it creates an ad-hoc wi-fi connection to work with.
BTW great app!
This thing is great. I wonder why more people aren't interested in this....
Sounds cool, I'm going to test this out later
pretty slick...
Nice that you can mange contacts and view the contents of your sdcard etc. Similar to AFile and others but a bit more "moto". Could be neat! I imagine that the majority of users would never set up a secure login though, could be fun to sit in a crowded bar and scan for active devices running this on port 8080. Imagine the havoc that could wreak!

Cool! Thanks for the download/headsup!
does this connect via USB or only wifi?
What does this do exactly? I have to connect to my wifi network and make sure the computer is connected and then what?
Is there a specific process to join the phone and the comp together?
I tried using a remote desktop client but didn't figure out how to get it working, is this the same?

Yes you can, once you've linked an album you can right click on the cover-art and copy it. This can then be pasted into the zune software.
I am subscribing to this thread so please ask me any questions you have about ZST here.
Yo could you make you Installer NOT install it CURRENT USER

also means it looks at zune library under said admin account, which is empty

Unlikely, but not impossible. Don't hold out.
I find that while I can link albums with no issue, I can never seem to be able to un-link them. Even after un-linking and refreshing, even re-scanning, the album is still linked to something that I have unlinked it from.
Any way to resolve this?
Also, thanks for the app. I have found it to be very useful and have been using it for quite a while now. =]

The problem is the zune software doesn't want to work how ZST is trying to make it work, so quite often you get problems where things don't update how you would expect.
The number one fix for problems like this, and this goes for linking too, is to turn off ‘Automatically retrieve and update album art and metadata.’ in the zune settings. See the FAQ: https://github.com/leetreveil/Zune-Social-Tagger/wiki/FAQ

What if I already have that disabled? I always manage my own tags and I have that feature disabled so Zune doesn't touch a thing.
What else could prevent it from un-linking?
Im a new Windows Phone owner for about a week now. Loving it. Zune Social Tagger is great but what about people that dont listen to mainstream music and not in the Zune database? I think there should be the option to use your own artist background and album cover. Half the time my album cover is of better quality then the one provided from the database and it gets replaced with Zunes copy. There is a program for the ZuneHD that lets you use your own. Maybe for your next release to include this feature.
Thanks.

Can you find the album you're looking for in the zune marketplace via the zune software?
Also which country are you from?
The Music Beta by Google app seems to be giving me issues. I have been using it since it launched on the Xoom without any kind of problems until now. It is telling me that I have too many devices connected to my account. That doesn't make any sense because I know for a fact that I do not have more than 8 devices or computers connected to my account like it's telling me I have. I know for a fact that I have my Xoom, my Droid, and my computer all connected to my Music account. And that's it! Nothing else.
Now I can't use Music Beta on my Xoom... and I don't know why it would be saying that when I know it's false. This is the only app that is giving me problems. Screenshot attached...
UPDATE: The problem has been resolved by me! Check out the post below to see...
I have fixed the problem! I am rooted, of course... and it turns out that every time I wiped data on my Xoom, and then signed back into my Music Beta account on a fresh new install, it would add my Xoom to my list of devices again. My Xoom was actually listed 7 times on the Music Beta device list, followed by my Droid... which is a total of 8 devices. That explains everything!
To fix this:
Just log into the desktop version of Music Beta by clicking here, go into settings, and then you'll see a place to manage your devices. Just remove the multiple device entries from the list, and then... presto! We're back in business!
Important Lesson Of The Day:
If you own a Xoom, are rooted, wipe data a lot, and you use Music Beta a lot... you will want to make sure that you check out your device list right away. I can almost guarantee that your Xoom is listed more than one time. If there are multiple device entries of the same thing, just remove them off your list. It's that easy!
And if you don't do this... eventually you will end up hitting 8 devices total like I did. Then you will have to remove at least one device entry from the list before you can use it again, because you are only allowed 8 devices at a time, even if it just so happens to be the same device listed 8 different times. Just be aware of that situation and you won't ever have a problem.
If anyone has found this information useful or informative, please give me a thanks. Also, leave any comments if you have any. Thanks all!
i experienced a similar situation with the kindle app, every time i wiped and reloaded the kindle app, it thought it was a new xoom, so i had 6 tablets on the account.

Nah it's cool. You need to click the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of the Music Beta page while you are logged in, and then hit music settings. You can then see the page that has your devices on it. Done.

Thanks for this. Since I've only wiped my Xoom once, it was listed once...but my D3..listed multiple times, cuz of wiping

Thanks for the fix, I got the notification last night and had no idea how since I only use Google Music on my PC and phone, hopefully they fix the issue of it automatically authorizing the same device multiple times.

Hopefully they do down the road. Each device has its own MAC address, so it should be fairly easy to allow it to differentiate between same devices so that they will not make the list more than once. It should not be difficult for it to identify a device that is already on the list via MAC address, or so you would think so right.
I haven't seen this talked about on here. Justin Angel has created a .xap that streams pandora and acutally works very well. The only thing it doesn't do is run in the background and show the now playing media on the lockscreen. If he could get that working, it would be amazing.
http://twitter.com/#!/JustinAngel/status/123225742199881729
Ahh crap. When the screen goes off it kills the music too. Any tricks to keep that from happening?
Is he Willing to share the source code? ... oh and on a user note, he has his email and password for his Pandora account hard coded
Doesnt Work
It opens up the login screen and after that nothing happens. Anything Missed ?
Word is that he is working on an SDK for it. He tweets about it on his twitter account. I can't wait for this. It's been a long time coming.
Justin has released this for developers:
http://metropandora.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=PandoraSDK#suggestedAPI
As well as this milestone chart:
http://metropandora.codeplex.com/
Installed this on Mango and it opens to the screen were I insert my pandora credentials, then when hitting enter it kicks me out.... .Anyone else have this issue?
thanks
I had a word with Justin on Twitter. He is finalizing the SDK and then head over to make a new App so till then sit tight
will it also work in the countries where pandora doesn't?

So very new to the whole wp7 thing. How does one download it? Says it is not supported file to download?
MetroRadio
MetroRadio was released on Market but then pulled after only 2 days. This was the first pandora 3rd party app that was built off Justin Angel's SDK (Provided here). I flashed a new rom and know can't find this xap anywhere. Does anyone know where to get it?
Thanks!

I highly doubt there is such a thing, especially since Google wants to keep Android Auto distraction-free.

It's funny, but in my case having no browser (even a text based interface from the phone/chrome would be grand) actually makes AA *more* distracting for me, as for work I travel from address to address for service calls, and my route is all accessed through my phone via chrome. As it stands, without AA, I have a nice big button in chrome that I can tap that will automagically load up the next customer's address in google maps, but in AA I have to unplug from USB, pull up my browser, look down at my screen, and memorize the address I need to go to next, then plug the phone in, launch AA, 'ok google xxx address' and proceed. It's a very similar process when I need to call ahead to let the person know I'm coming. As terrible as it is, I do not have the patience to pull over every single time I need to do this.. it would be far less distracting if I could have the cover page on my screen, tap the nice big buttons for maps and calling ahead and just carry on with my day!
I'm not saying you would lecture me on this, but just in case you (or anyone reading this) would, I *understand* that I shouldn't be doing this while driving, but I'm but human, and very flawed, and when I have an easy option to pull over I usually will, but when I don't, I don't, so support for this would be *much* safer.

There is a basic browser app inside. I couldn't install it (throws me an error) but maybe you'll be luckier.
