Someone know when android 2.0 eclair source code will be released?
Motorola droid with eclair is out.. why google didn'trelease source on repo?
Because moto wanted exclusivity
OMG!!!
This is bad!
lol ya but they should be dropping it soon enough...i wouldnt worry about it too much.
im not sure if it will work on our phones just thot you guys would like to know that samsung released sorce codes to the captivate (; http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-releases-captivate-source-code-developers its cool looking i suppose.. but if i dont get a new touch im not gonna be able to test
motorola just released source codes for the droid x!
Now that w have full sbf will we be getting an overclock method soon? What do y'all think?
Still need source code.
Is Moto usually quick to get the source code out? Coming from the Eris, HTC took ages to get their act together.
I would'nt hold my breath

It might not be coming out SOON, but rest assured, it IS coming. They have to by law.
But does the law have a deadline? kidding.
Now many journalists have Nexus S for the testing, but there is still no ROM for the development purposes.
How is it possible?
Maybe because journalists are just that; writers, not geeks/coders/hackers like some on here
When nexus s will be available?

officially on Thursday
Here's the NexusS source code:

Hope soon we'll have a Gingerbread ROM...
Wow, It's amazing how many changes are coming from Samsung in this and how much the Google team is putting into it.
I pressume this code was originally based on the Galaxy s Code and if it was, it just goes to show how many improvements there appear to have been in the new ROM for the Nexus S. Obviously it's 2.3 and not 2.1 or 2.2, but still.

don't be worried!!!
calm down dude, it will come soon.....(actually i don't know when it will leak)

What do you all think is the likelihood of us getting CyanogenMod 7 for the Droid 3? If you do think it's possible, how long do you think it may be? More than 8 weeks?
I know I'd love to have Cyanogen or a clone running on my D3, but there's lots of things that have to come first, like bootstrapping, and custom recovery before anyone can even begin baking anything. At least moto already has the source code up online, so that will save sometime. Give it some time, something will happen, but be polite and don't ask for ETA's.
I'm ready to get built in tethering. Someone needs to custom recovery quick!
Unless I'm missing some other kind of underground movement, it's not likely that we will ever see cyanogenmod support:
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/devices
There is no Droid 2 support. No Droid Incredible 2 support. No Droid X support. No Droid X2 support... and so on. I'm thinking now that I was spoiled with my Droid1 when it comes to aftermarket and custom rom support.
there are CM7 ports for D2 and D2G. Give it time, it will happen. I for one ran several CM7 nightly builds, MIUI, and a few others on my D2.

My apologies, I realize now that asking for ETAs is a bit annoying. I should have realized that when I noticed how annoying it was that every other response in the "Can this root Droid 3?" thread was "how close are we?"
Thanks for the knowledgeable response.

That seriously needs to be updated. There are official CM builds for the Droid X, the Droid 2 and the Incredible 2 as well as quite a few other devices not listed on that page.
Look at their github products...
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/tree/gingerbread/products
the droid 2 is cyanogen_droid2.mk
the droid x is cyanogen_shadow.mk
the inc 2 is cyanogen_vivow.mk
Would absolutely love to see it happen. D3 is my favorite hardware so far (out of nearly a dozen devices I use for testing)...CM7 would simply make it the perfect device.
The Droid 3 will most certainly receive CM7 and MIUI; however, a recovery must first be released, and once 2nd init with gingerbread kernels is perfected it will have to be ported to the Droid 3.

Seeing CM7 on the D3 certainly would be great, but considering the number of devices the team supports, I would expect it to be a late-comer to the party. Once we get clockwork, expect to see Woodyman and DC dropping the first ROM (since Woody already owns a D3), followed by Chevy (I hope) and Pete. I really believe we are going to end up with a fairly extensive firmware list for this device, considering the massive popularity of the Droid. We should have some happy days in the near future!
