Hi guys,
earlier today I updated my I9000 to XXJVR
I found the market in the rom is version 3.0.26
When I start downloading apps, market tell me there are insufficient space on my phone and download was cancelled. but my phone clearly has more than enough storage (over 1 GB for app and over 3G on SD card)
After re-installing market - no luck
After wiping download manager - no luck
After wiping cache - no luck
After wiping dalvik cache - no luck
After doing factory reset - no luck
Is there any way to fix this?
edit: Go back to 2.3.6, you can find the app in xda
That is a lingering issue some people are having with the new, improved Market.
Try going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All > Market and click Uninstall Upgrade.
If you don't have that option, download an earlier version of the Market or Gapps (should be in the Apps forum or at http://goo-inside.me/gapps), uninstall the Market using TB then install the old market.apk/flash the older Gapps.
i have no same, but have other problems with Market versions above 3.0.xx. I think , it is not problem with our phone, this is one from many problems Google Android Market. I was asked Google many times for fixing different issues (buyed apk not upgradable, than free version can downloading, not compatibile with SGS, and etc problems), but still stay big problems with devices Market.

Sad
I pretty like the new market layout
seems i have to use the old market for the time being.
The oldest market coming with the rom is just 3.0.26, and that market is not helping either
Edit: Going back to market 2.3.6 solved everything, let's hope it won't update itself...
I had the same problem but only with certain apps (Pocket Legends was one). It was because I had lagfix enabled, and this meant the market would not install apps over something like 28MB. Disabling lagfix sorted it out, and the new market seems to work fine for me now. Most apps install ok, but updating the big ones means manually downloading the apk from somewhere and installing it, rather than through the market.
Not sure if it's the same problem though, as I would expect the same behaviour on the previous market also...
I had the same problem, but my market automaticly update itself to 3.1.5 ;/ , how can i freeze updating ?
Mine is 3.0.27 and gives insufficient space error while downloading moto x mayhem
If you can't revert back to v2.3.6 then try installing thru this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15992973#post15992973
After that I needed to clear data for "Download Manager" and "Market" in Settings->Applications->Manage->All.
This error is a Samsung galaxy s problem afaik, Samsung needs to fix this.

Titanium Backup can freeze the Market Updater, if I recall correctly.
My soloution was
reverting to old market with old market.apk app located on these forums
reboot
clear cache
simple...go to applications>all>market>stop>clear data....then retry to download anything
Insufficient space - Problem Solved!!
the problem arises coz of limited Cache and the new market strictly uses /cache partition which is just ~27mb.
The best solution I've found is to use a Virtual partition of larger size for that cache.. here's a link to the thread with instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188972
When i found you can actually do something like this, i fell in love with android all over again!
ps: i'd recommend the cwm flashable version on the same thread, as its more permanent unless u delete the script manually..
You can flash Semaphore kernel and enable 50 mb cache. It should help.

I'll on darky 10.2 and i had the same problem since update to the new market.
clearing caches did not help, but i uninstalled updates from manage applications it worked fine.
Thanx
"Market Fix" App fixed this problem
I had the same problem & I used Market Fix App & it worked.
After using it I have downloaded 4-5 apps of around 20MB each & no problem.

Ok this is my second attempt to get an answer for the issues I'm experiencing.
Hopefully someone out there knows whats up and can give me a real solution.
I will pay the person $40US via PayPal if you can help me solve the issues listed below.
Here we go...
I can flash any rom or kernal successfully, however once booted I can not restore TIBU or install anything from market. When I click ok on download at market is does nothing, just allows me to repeatedly click on download icon. But never begins download. The second issue is if I try to restore backups using TIBU, they never install, just sit there as if they are installing, but never do. Also if I try to install any apps sitting on my ext-sd, they do the same as TIBU, just sit there showing they are installing, but never do.
Having said all that! If I flash to stock JF6, everything works fine, no issues whatsoever.
Now I have repeated this process at least a dozen times with no changes. I have flashed just about every custom rom with the exact same results. But again, flashing back to stock, zero issues.
Please do not suggest I run market fix, as this does not explain my other issues with TIBU or installing apps from ext-sd.
Others have suggested using android id changer after I have installed custom rom, the issue there is I can never install it from market after I have flashed custom rom because of the above issues.
Please help, this is driving me crazy and thanks in advance to those that know what's going on and can direct me to a solution.
NOTE: Yes I do a Master Clear & Clean Dalvik cache after every flash !! After flashing to stock, I can root and modify settings file under dbdata to allow third party apps with no issues. All issues are directly related to custom roms only!

Maybe an obvious question: Have you tried clearing the data and cache for the market.
Settings
Applications
Market
Clear data
Clear cache
I had a similar problem (apps would download and fail to install no matter how many times I downloaded) I also only had my problem with custom ROMs.

Obligatory flame about not reading the post.
Please try the below steps as they are so it would be easy to debug.
1. Backup ur data from internal SD to PC
2. Use one click to come to stock (don't root or install any stuff here, except enabling USB debugging)
3. Connect to computer, and mount drives
4. Quick format the internal SD on windows (if u r on windows; telling this cos I use windows)
5. Copy the ROM in my signature (dilligaf's 7.x) onto ur SD card
6. Reboot into recovery and install the ROM (do not use TiBu or do anything else at this point)
7. Go to settings and add ur market linked gmail account
Try connecting to market now n see if that works.
I am using the latest version of Overcome Jupiter 3.0.1 and used the StockSafe V5. When I installed it I did a wipe install and everything is fresh on the install. For some reason when I try to download apps (The first app I download works any apps I try to download after that do not download) from the market I get "Error downloading. There is insufficient space on the device."
When I download through the amazon app store it seems to download them fine and install without a problem.
Its a brand new fresh install so there is plenty of space on the device. Things I have tryed to fix this include in this order;
Clear cache from recovery screen (This works for one app then I have to restart in recovery and wipe when I want to install another app and keep repeating to get more apps)
Clear data
Used app "move cache for root users" this didn't seem to change anything
Re-Stock and Re-Installed Overcome Jupiter 3.0.1 for a 2nd time
Installed the Jupiter Market Patch
Any help that you can provide or ideas for a way to fix this would be great.
Thanks
*Seems to only get this problem when I download apps that are bigger then 10-15meg from the app store (Cant tell an exact size but its about this)
*Any apps bigger then 30meg there is no way for me to download them at all no matter how much I clear the cache
Install the patch from Team Overcome:
http://www.teamovercome.net/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=15
Nope still get the same error when trying to download anything over 15 meg. Applied the patch and still get the same error.
Thanks for trying, Any other ideas ?
I've been having issues downloading apps larger then 20Mbs from the Android Market after updating to 3.0.27. Noticed there was a 3.1.3 floating around so I decided to install it and see if it helps with no luck. The error I usually get is insufficient space on the device. Some apps like Star Legends will download but then give me an incorrectly signed error. Other then using an alternative market (since the apps on the Android Market seem to be more frequently updated) is there any other work around? Or has anyone managed to hack the newest Android Market into bypassing that insufficient space check or something?
*edit* Just noticed I managed to post this in the Themes and Apps section... Sorry bout that could I get a mod to move to the Q&A Please?
Use titanium backup to integrate updates of system apps into rom and remove orphan data.
This solves it for me.
I'll give it a try (once I figure out what you mean lol) and report back.
*edit* Alright I gave it a shot but only Maps and YouTube were in the Integrate updates of system apps into ROM and the Remove Orphan Data was empty... Suppose I should note that I have Market version 3.1.3 installed now.

I'm on 3.0.27, doing that seems to work for me. Try rebooting after doing the titanium stuff.
Does it matter that the Market didn't even show up as an option for either operation?
*edit* nvm it seems to be working thanks for the tip!
legit fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16612294&postcount=118
i had the issue while trying to install a larger app and this fixed it
when flashing this i also cleared /cache and dalvik through recovery
merging updates to system doesnt seem to solve the problem every time, but this does, i tested it on both 3.0.27 and 3.1.3 markets
Doesn't seem to work for me. I read somewhere, I think on the Samsung Infuse board, that google changed the download location from /data to /cache which prevents us from downloading larger apps. I don't know enough about android programming to switch it back, but I'm sure someone here does!!

The download location on the Capt has always been /cache. After the download it's installed to /data. The /cache partition is only 30M big which is why we can't download anything larger than that.

If the download location has always been to the cache, why has it suddenly stopped working? I can uninstall the Market update and download large apps just fine. It doesn't make any sense for it to stop working unless there was a change in the way the download process works. My hardware doesn't change by uninstalling the update so it can't be a hardware issue.

It seems a little further digging and someone else has found a way to get it to work. Check out haloimplants' solution here.
My OS is Froyo 2.2.1 installed in a rooted custom ROM.
I installed a clean Custom ROM after a crash, but I can't install any application from the Android Market or appk still remained in the \mnt\sdcard.
The Unknown sources is checked!
I read in many forums that to fix the problem, I have to clear the cache and the data from the Market application using Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> Market appl. The problem is that "Manage Applications" doesn't stop to show that it is "Computing" therefore it doesn't let me clean the cache.
Anybody – any idea? Is there another way to fix it?
Roby
I sent a mail with the same question to Android Market Support and they refused to answer because I use a custom ROM.
I read in some place that to fix the problem I have to do a Factory Reset. Actually I have done it before I installed the ROM. It seems that I have done something wrong after the new ROM was installed. One of the first things I have done was to add an account [the same I use with the market] and then I tried to download and install applk from the Market and it's stuck.
Any help?
did you try uninstalling any market updates i had the same problem but when uninstalled the market update it worked
or try installing another version of the market through cwm
Even for apps I have purchased before (Samurai II for example)
I want to buy Sprinkle and I cannot!!
Doesn't say they're incompatible for me...
are you looking at sprinkle free? you won't even see the full version if browsing on your phone.

Both show up just fine on my phone. I even downloaded and played it. I'm running CM7 though. Could be a firmware difference.
Just checked and got the same problem with stock rom. Says that device is not compatible, any solutions except flashing cm?

Probably not, no.
Sounds like a cache size problem. I believe stock firmware only allows a ~30mb cache size for downloading apps from the market. That means, in the event that the app is too large, it simply cannot download and install the entire app. But this is only the market's download cache.
A simple solution is to install the apk file seperate from using the market app. There's also a terminal fix that creates are larger, temporary cache. I can't remember the command off the top of my head, but I'm sure a quick search will produce positive results. I'm sure a large portion of custom ROMs—especially those the farthest away from stock—have this issue rectified. If not, search for the workaroud or install the apk yourself.
Good luck!
Ok let me explain more.
I have purchased Samurai II Vengeance from the market a while back. The apk size is a little over 40mb but it is still available for purchase and I was able to download it.
With the new market, even I have purchased the app, Samurai II Vengeance is not being displayed in the market. Not even under my purchased apps.
The problem is even i can bypass the cache problem by running some script to increase my cache size, those apps are not showing up so I cannot download even I know my cache size is big enough.
Just wanted to chime in here. Using a JVT ROM with a repartitioned device that has 60MB cache - Market version is 3.3.11. Searching for "third blade" as an example, does not return the app. It's completely hidden. Using the market website, the app shows "This item is not compatible with your device."

it's a market problem
Gun bros is working fine here
use chainfire 3d app from the market... install nvidia and qualcomm plugins (explained in chainfires post)... and select market fix... all apps would be restored... the new market only shows power vr based apps and doesnt shw the rest... but we always ve brilliant chainfire and his apps for the rescue...

Yes, it is a cache problem, and Yes making a "virtual cache partition" does make it bigger (i now have ~52 mb cache)...BUT, the Market doesn't know that my cache is bigger now! it still shows larger apps as "incompatible"
Is there a way to bypass these market restrictions somehow?
ps: reason i'm so desperate, is "World of Goo" just landed in android market!! I can run the Demo (28mb) alright, but full version is still "incompatible" (47mb). I'm willing to pay! just give me a chance!
i have same problem too. i cant install blood and glory.
error is " errorwhile downloading "BLOOD & GLORY ". There is insufficient space on the device." but i installed BLOOD % GLORY ( NR ) version.
another error is smurf's village isnt available for your device.
my rom is cm7
I think it's cache problem alright. The easiest way, I think, is to go CM7
