Milaq's CM6
I think the Milaq's CM6 is the best. Stable and fast.

I believe the Milestone A854 is possibly a Droid? It seems to be CDMA. Which carrier are you with?

My carrier is Bluegrass cellular does that matter?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated lol

Yes, because if you flash a Milestone ROM onto a Droid nothing will work.
Check your system information if it says Milestone or Droid

Where would I check in the about phone section or where at?
Sent from my A854 using XDA App

It says A854 as the model and firmware is android 2.1 update1 what else do I need to know?
Sent from my A854 using XDA App

A854 seems to be the CDMA (that's the american cell phone technology) version of Milestone so if you're gonna use CM6 or CM7 (both maintained by european guys) you'll have to change your baseband afterwards... I guess...
Can't tell you more details - I never had to bother with baseband and stuff

Hey, someone know if this Motorola Milestone A854 has the locked bootloader??
BTW, if you need some official roms, you can find them here:
http : // and-developers . com/ sbf:droid

Your phone is a Droid. Don't flash milestone roms on it.
Sent from my GT-I9100

Hi,
I don't know for sure, but there is a Milestone CDMA version, A854. But it work's identically Droid, so you need to install Droid ROMs, not Milestone ROMs.
The diference between them is that Milestone ROMS need specific GSM Radio Drivers while Droid need specific CDMA Radio Drivers.
Correct me if i'm wrong.

To be honest, I would not expect it to be different, it is common sense to not use the same revision for different source code. (although Moto has never shown much common sense)
My guess is that it is the same source, just compiled in a different day since each Motorola Office "build" their own rom for some weird reason... Why not have the exact same rom for all retail Milestones that run 850/1900/2100 is something that I really don't understand, perhaps Moto has lots of money to burn...

(?) queation on gingerbread

ok, if the official release of ginger cane out for the O3D then why do we still have to flash the baseband? jjust thought it would be much simpler by now.

Yes it does
that would awesome if i could get gb to flash on my device
Because its the European version.
does the European version has different baseband? I have unlocked AT&T LG Thrill 4G that I am using with T-mobile, which baseband should I flash with?
all i want to know is why isnt there a way to flash gb baseband and rom using cwm yet!!

coz most European providers using 2100/900/1800 MHz gsm band
but AT&T using 850/1900 Mhz
so we need base band software to communicate with baseband processor
(as example wifi driver for pc)
we still don't have exact base band for thrill 4g for GB so what we do borrow optimus 3d base bands
still no body able include baseband in cwm flash
when we flashing froyo rom we didn't had that problem coz we already had froyo base band in our mobile.
But when we switching to GB we need new base band ( as simple example windows xp wifi driver is not compatible with Linux Linux need sperate driver)
This is my understanding plz correct me if I'm wrong
The key is having the right modem.. we don't have the right one until thrill gets upgrade or 920h gets upgrade... Latin America...
I have changed over files that are connected to modem but was never succesfull and often ended in a boot loop or stuck at logo
So agree with uesheda

I flashed my unlocked Thrill 4G with O3D's official GB and it is working flawlessly with T-Mobile. I can get 3G signal and even enabled the FM radio.
I'm surprised a baseband hasn't already been ported from our Canadian friends, the Rogers O3D supposedly has the same model number and radio as our device, someone please correct me if I've heard wrong.

I'm pretty sure they use the same freqs, but most of the western hemisphere does as well.

CM Froyo 2.2.3 ROM?

Is there a cm based Froyo 2.2.3 ROM out there for our phones?
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
There will *most likely* not be a 2.2.3 cm6 rom because cyanogenmod & co is way past supporting froyo and had already moved onto ICS. Plus, 2.2.3 doesn't offer any significant changes from 2.2.2, only some security patches..
I would like a ICS but that will not be for a long time.
Is there a CM based 2.2.1 then? I'm using 2.2.1 NameLeszFroyo.

Sure - one of the best roms for the g1 - froyobylaszlo, if you want go with just cm6 but its not fast on a dream
Sent from my NXM726HN using XDA App
I have used lazlos Froyo I like this one better. Is a custom ROM faster than a rooted OTA? How do I find the latest rooted OTA for T-mobile mytouch 3g 32b?
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
For 32b the latest update supported is 1.6 - i think you mean what is the latest aosp - thats 2.3.7 for the dream there are a couple of builds the best one is probably ezgingerbread
And there arent rooted over the air updates
Sent from my NXM726HN using XDA App
The latest supported was Froyo released by t-mobile unsure if there is a rooted version
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Thats right, i use a g1 so i only get ota updates to 1.6 i didnt pay attention to your mytouch note. So if you were to root, update your radio and spl, then you will be able to get faster roms, roms with more flare, and you will be able to over / underclock at will speeding up your phone or getting better battery life. So to answer your question yes if you root then you can have a faster / beter rom

[Q] baseband

Is there a baseband update i can use to get 3g yet?
United states
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I assume from your previous thread that you have a Milestone and not a Droid.
The main difference between the Milestone and the Droid is the baseband processor. The Droid is designed to work with the CDMA 3G network in the US and the Milestone with the UMTS 3G on the other parts of the world.
Yeh i got a milestone.. And i get all that. Im wanderin if i flash telus baseband will give me 3g here in the US
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Idk what rom are you using, but in kabaldan's roms there is an option to change baseband so there is no need to flash anything. (in CM10 it is in the Settings/Device/Advanced/Baseband selection)
Im on stock.. Im usen minimod recovery
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Which rom cm 7,8,9? Does flashing a new baseband fix the 3g or is it hardware. Im not sure if i have the europe ver. Bein the firmware confit ver say . GAS_ASIA_USAMS1FRYORTSEA_PO13
BASEBAND VER: 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.09.04I

CM7/9/10
(I recommend you to do a full nandroid backup of your current rom, just in case, and only after that mess with the installation of CM. You can find a full guide in my signature.)
As I said, you don't need to flash anything, just simply switch the baseband withtin the corresponding menu.
I'm 99% sure it is impossible to use 3g on the milestone in the us, because the baseband processor is for umts and not cmda.
Yeh i got it.. Nandroid backup done.. That sux.. I broke my gf cappy glide and now shes gotta use this hunkofjunk.. But o well, was hopen someone figured it out..
