[Q] questions about upgrade australian telstra tab - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, im using the telstra tab and wanna upgrade it to 2.3
do i need to rooted or bootloader the tab, or both of rooted and bootloader the tab? then flash it?
i read other topic from www 。thegalaxytabforum.com/index.php?/topic/3248-stock-rom-android-233-gingerbread-p1000xxjq1-p1000xxjq1-p1000xxjpz/
under the post it said "Note 1: The bootloaders ARE signed, but NOT secured. Custom kernels and firmwares can still be flashed ! ". i kinda dont understand what it means.
and in their method they didnt mention about whether the tab need to be rooted. will that be cool?
thanks.

Locked Bootloader

Ok so im on my second tab now, because the first time i tried to flash my tab i bricked it now i got my second tab, and I didnt notice the thread in the development section about locked bootloader and the patch to check to see if its locked. The tab I have now I downloaded the patch to see if its locked, and it says that the bootloader is not signed, and that i can flash anything. Its a GT-P1000M Bell tab running P1000MUGJJ7 2.2. I just want to make sure that if i try to flash this again, im not going to brick it again. It is rooted already, and I have experience flashing as I have an I9000 too. Thanks!
assuming your bootloader is not locked, you can check out the post below,
- worked for me, and i'm on a bell tab as well

[Q] should root the galaxy note before upgrading it to 2.3.6?

Hi everyone, just wanna know should root the galaxy note before upgrading it to 2.3.6?
according to my reading of other instruction thread, there's no mention of root before flashing device. So no need to root before flashing? I'm just not very certain about that.
maybe it's a silly question.im newbie.
thx everyone
My rooted 2.3.5 got unrooted after the 2.3.6 update via Kies. So I'd update your phone 1st before root.
could anybody can answer my question, who already flash their note?
Flashing Stock Rom will unroot your device, so no point of rooting before flashing. check here for rooting instructions

[Q] Rooting Samsung I9001

Hello.
I bought Samsung Galaxy S Plus from e-shop 2 days ago but it came with orange home firmware 2.3.4 I9001BVKPB, which is without TouchWiz. Some people adviced me to flash the current firmware with I9001XXKPS Android 2.3.6. Before flashing, do i have to root the mobile? If i access the recovery mode after flashing, will it recover the old 2.3.4 firmware? Will i lost warranty? If i unroot the mobile, will i have back the warranty?
Sorry for these noobie questions, i am new to this.
Edit: Does this firmware I9001XXKPS Android 2.3.6 support Czech language?
1. Read the Flashing FAQ.
2. You don't have to root the phone if you are flashing stock firmwares. You need to use Odin in the Download Mode to flash the device.
3. You could flash to any version and revert back to original shipped version anytime provided you know what you are doing.
ya you will lose your warranty but you can flash back to a stock firmware and they won't even know you've flashed a custom rom or rooted your phone
How can I save my current stock ROM before user other ROMs? Thanks!

Warranty will be lost, if you do anything with the phones software or hardware, if you unroot nobody would recognize/notice it. If you dont need a new room, just root the phone

[Q] Going back to 4.1.2 stock

Hello to all,
Sorry if this post has already been covered a gazillion times previously!!
I have a HTC ONE, which has been rooted for a few months to v4.2.2 from v4.1.2, but I want to go back to v4.1.2 so I can receive OTA's; I can't figure out which version of a RUU I need to download and I don't want to flash something that might brick my phone!
I have checked what software version is currently on my phone and it shows 1.29.161.11; I presume this is not the correct version hence I have the Revloution HD Rom installed!?
I would appreciate some help as I keep reading that I need something called "S-OFF" in order to flash a new rom, but I have no idea what this is?!?
Thanks in advance.

Where are the roms for the sm-g730w8

like the title says. i cant find any roms specifically for the sm-g730w8 version (at&t) of the galaxy s3 mini. i see I8190 and golden but not the sm-g730w8. what roms can i flash for this device? will the ones that says golden work for this device model? im already rooted but no recovery because the recovery version is golden and not the one specific for my phone.
Bump
I also cannot locate any custom rom for G730w8. Had some use for this old phone but need a custom rom. Anyone?
Got it rooted and unlocked... but can't find a suitable TWRP or CWM recovery.
Sorry I know this is a reaaally old phone...

Currently there are some roms for the g730a varient that should work on yours, there is also safestrap for the g730a and g730v(basically twrp but it may not work on g730w8). You could also use flashfire. I did make a debloated stock rom and a port of tencent os but both of them are fairly buggy so I would just recommend staying on stock with root unless you want to make your own rom.
