Citation from addictivetips:
On the other hand, since the .odex files were supposed to quickly build the dalvik cache, removing them would mean longer initial boot times. However, this is true only for the first ever boot after deodexing, since the cache would still get built over time as applications are used. Longer boot times may only be seen again if the dalvik cache is wiped for some reason.

It mostly helps for first boot. After first boot, cache is filled and performance should be the same.

My phone restarts on its own..!

My i9001 while I am using it normally..it freezes and then restart on its own!! I am on broodrom RC4 and I can't manage to know what exactly the problem is!! Any help?
Have you tried a wipe?
Have you tried it with another Rom?
Is it only Broodrom?
Go into recovery (cwm or feamod which ever u use) wipe the data and the dalvik then reboot into the andriod os and see if that removes the random reboot issue but if this doesnt help then u need to flash with an another custom ROM. and see if the problem remains

The data partition holds all your apps. So you have to restore them after you wiped it.

You could have tried running it at 1.4Ghz, probably worked out for you, in RC5 the default OC will be 1.4GHz, you will have allot more control trough scripts in RC5

ROM Speed Test

I realize that quadrant standard has no real world value, however, I wanted to give some sort of benchmark as to the quality and smoothness of the ICS ROM's. And I wanted it to be a fair, equal test. A lot of people, myself included are getting a lot of lag, mainly in the UI. So what I want to do it post quadrant standard scores and what setup you are running, and if you want give your experiences with the ROM.These test are all done immediately following a flash, no software was added or removed except quadrant standard. This was the process:
Reboot recovery-factory wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, fix persmissions, flash ROM, factory wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, fix permission, reboot, install quadrant, run test.

What is it that makes the V12 and Infinitum so fast?
wrong thread, need to be in the general thread...
Should I run the benchmark with the device plugged in?
I ran it on battery (fully charged) on Slim ICS, got 1270. It's low isn't it?

If that's the case a mod will move it, however this is Dev related as it helps people decide which ROM to try.

That shouldn't matter, but that is very low. Did you Odin to stock before flashing? Might be that there are a lot of "leftovers" from previous flashes.

Meh you could say that any thread is dev related lol, we try to keep only developers posting products on this forum; kernels, roms you know

Galaxy mini slim rom(cm9)

Hello,i just install slim rom (cm9) for my galaxy mini.I prefer 'slim' cm9 of cm9 original cause it have much free ram and space on internal storage.
My problem is that i have some bugs. All are in settings, when i press themes in the settings for example i says setting has stopped.Other bug is in settings->about phone-> cyanogenmod update....the camera is not a problem for me but i hate bugs in my settings.
The rom is here -->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956127
Ps.Cm9 original and not the slim is better? Thanks guys.

Wipe both data and cache from recovery mode. And yes, all your data inside your phone will be gone. So its always safe to take a backup before you do anything.
Reply if that didnt help.

Ps:Video recording bugs are not important for me.

See it, you're a low end phone. ICS & JB aren't good for battery. Neither is MIUI.

Man, this worked really nice for me, I can now do Temple Run 2 with no lag - Running AOSP
Just so you know, disabling journaling means there may be data loss with unexpected shutdowns (e.g. the key combination to hard power, OS crashes, etc), which can corrupt files, including the OS if it was mounted as r/w (not by default).
I remember back in 2010 when this was big on the Samsung Moment. I was pretty much placebo on that phone. I wouldn't bother.

Same thing on the Defy -- while it helped a tiny bit, wasn't worth doing cause of safety concerns and system data loss\file system corruption. When you can't format your file system, you don't want to corrupt it (locked bootloader problems).

Flashing between roms without wipe the data and cache

Hi all,
I am currently using CM10.2. I am happy with it, but I might need MHL for somehow. Can I flash back and fore between CM10.2 to Stock without wipe my cache and data and I get
1, stable enough to run on both ROM
2, Personal data still good(still keeping like whatsapp history, contact data etc)
I am not brave enough to test by myself, hope anyone can help. Thanks
Mike

You can try it but you will for sure get a bootloop, especially with stock and custom rom. This way you are maybe able to change between custom ROMs with same android version, but stock is older than CM 10.2.

What you mean of bootloop is that you can't even make the device running without wipe?? Hey man, If I have the guts to try I will not ask. Haha..=)
Thanks anyways..

That's what I meant the differences between android version are to big and especially if you have a stock and a custom rom. Too many files/file paths are different and your system will screw up. It will boot, show the LG logo and reboot. That's why every single custom rom thread has the wipe part in it's instructions.
Like I said you can try it but I see no chance. I did it once between two custom ROMs (both CM 10.1) and even that didn't work out good.
It booted but every single app and system itself force closed repeatedly.
