My rooted nook was auto updated to 1.3, I'm was not running CM7, It seemed difficult for me to update to it.
Now what do I need to do to reroot my nook color again, I would like to have it running CM7 this time since everyone seems to like it. Also my nook is slow, so I need to tweak the speed as well. How much faster would I be able to get it to run? I run lots of large pdf files.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your question as I wondered whether others have the same problem. My Market App completely disappeared after the 1.3 update. It was automatic, and I would have chosen not to update as I wanted to know if there were any problems with a rooted Nook Color. I eagerly await any response that tells me how to reactivate my Market app. Without the app, existing apps won't update.
Of course it's gone, use Manual Nooter again...

I can tell you what I did, after extensive forum scrubbing. Very simply, I just reapplied the latest MN, which is what I had rooted with, so I had it handy. This was without doing anything else, no formatting, no wiping, no nuthin. I was skeptical, but it seems to be working quite smoothly for now. Total root access, just sign into market again and reinstall gmail, and I was good to go.
I knew this has worked for a number of people, so I gave it a shot. Lucky me, I'm one of them now.
HTH and YMMV
Great rerooted again with manual nooter, now how to get my nook to run cm7 and tweak it to run faster?
I don't having it on the sd card.

Thanks for the reply. However, as I found out, I needed to download the latest MN zips. Followed the instructions and it worked great.

I know that this has been covered but this is slightly different. My YouTube stopped.working last night, I assume for the same reason as many. I tried to uninstall and reinstall with no success. Now I have deleted all of the YouTubes from my NC, how do I reinstall it and which directory? This is where I am lost. I just want my YouTube back

I had a similar issue. I just ran the attached .apk via ES File Explorer and I was back in business.
I had that issue during the week too. I went to NC portal and grabbed the signed youtube apk for the nookie froyo and that worked for me.
I will try this again. So what directly do I put the .apk in? system/app?
Last time I tried to run that it gave me a parsing error. Perhaps the file was corrupt.
I will give the above a go and report back.
It will not install. It acts like it is going to install, and then simply states on the screen "Application not installed" and a "Done" button.
How can I wipe out YouTube completely from the machine? I think it is conflicting with the install.
Its happened to me several titmes. Seems to be related to installing apks that play media files. Or maybe im just stupid and should quit messing with my device. Shrug.
Here's a method that has never let me down.
1. Backup youtube.apk using titanium backup. (Doesn't matter if youtube currently doesn't work.)
2. Reinstall ONLY the .apk from backup. Do not restore data!
Voila, now youtube works again.
You can just restore next time it acts fonky.

I have no idea what "signed" YouTube app is, I use 'HQ YouTube' app as per discovery by one Roy Aguilera for EVO (see my blog fineoils.blogspot.com, down below, as it was posted on January 3). Later on, that discovery was observed working on Droids, so I tried it on my NookColor. Works fine for every YouTube HD 1080p movie/clip you can find there. Didn't work for my Pandigital Novel though (lol), as obviously its hardware overlay remains completely broken -- even on its CM6 beta.
HQ YouTube is reported as stopped working in Froyo though. I suspect "Stagefright" is the culprit, so anyone may try to play with it as I propose in my blog. This tweaking might even help to validate Nookie Froyo for Flash 10.1 -- who knows? I didn't try NF yet, and hopefully never will, as I consider A2.2 a mere bugfix job for A2.1 leaving too many bugs untouched for TI OMAP36xx (quite old) platform and adding "features" (like "Stagefright") to be fixed at A2.3.x level.
You could look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10648931&postcount=8 - worked for me.
I installed it just fine, I used TitaniumBackup to uninstall and then used the aforementioned apk to reinstall and it works fine. Now, I leave the application, and go back in ... same issue.
What is causing this break so that I dont have to do these steps every time I want to use YouTube?
Worked like a charm, thanks!
YouTube
the thing that works for me is to delete
/data/data/com.google.android.youtube/shared_prefs/youtube.xml
I use root explorer to delete file.
next time you restart youtube you just have to accept the eula.
Hi All,
Just wanted to get feedback on a problem that just occured today. So I had my Nook Color for about two months now, and pretty much autonooted it the first day I got it using Autonooter 3.0. Device was 1.1 out of the box. Everything worked fine, youtube, gmail, market and gtalk.
However today, when I tried to update and download some apps via market, it would just get stuck and downloading and stay at 0% with no completion. I also noticed that my google talk would also refuse to sign in anymore. Strange thing is my youtube and Gmail still work. Any thoughts or feedback anyone?
thanks for reading!
Sounds like a google problem, but you might consider deleting the data associated with those apps if your feeling adventurous.

What do you mean by deleting the data associated with those apps?
So what do people think that:

Hi all, this is my first post here. I have just root my 1.2 NC, but the google map won't show my location and asked me to activate "my location", does it mean that my location is not working with rooted NC? Because I just can't find the my location settings.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
Thank in advanced.
Mine has finally started to working....
I had started out getting the NC in December and it was still 1.0. I updated it to the 1.01 when it came out. Then I performed the Autonooter for my first rooting experience. I really loved it.
When 1.2 came out I did the reseting to the factory settings which seemed to work to get the NC back to the 1.01. I performed the manual update from B&N and it was appeared to be successful. I did not realize it did not upgrade correctly and the rooting was very flaky at best (i.e. calendar issues, market would exit for no reason, etc.). I was really not pleased with the outcome.
I finally performed the following:
1) Manually got the NC back all the way to 1.0. Got it all registered and working correctly. I had to load the files since the CW would not allow me to do the 8 reboot to reset.
2) Manually added the update to get the NC up to 1.01. Made sure that it was still working.
3) Performed the 1.2 B&N update manually. Here is where I really noticed the big difference. The look and feel were really different compare to the after autonooter/reset.
4) Performed the manual root process using the updated version.
At this point I am extremely happy with the results so far. I was able to get into the Market several times without it exiting once or creating install errors. Things are working more like what I experienced with the auto process.
By the way the #1 and #2 I found a post that had the files and instructions to uninstall CW and get the NC back to original factory settings.
Can you use News and Weather and Google Maps? Mine still forcecloses on News and Weather and Maps still asks for my location.
Location is currently not working. The latest update to .25 does allow the calendar to sync though. It also might slow your FC with the market.

Thanks for the reply. Started to think I might have to do a complete wipe and start from scratch to get it to work.
Any update on this? I would really like to figure out how to get location services working with rooted 1.2.

I was wondering the same thing. My NC works great on everything else --Thanks to all the Dev's for this--- just have the News&Weather and Google Maps icons sitting there hoping they'll magically start working!!
Besides News&Weather many other apps(IMDB in particular) doesn't work because of this. Lame, because it was working fine on autonootered 1.1.
I'm still trying to figure out which fault is this-1.2 update or manual nooter? If later, maybe they should still call MN "beta"?

Every time I run Netflix, it says there is a new version and it wants to update. But if I click OK, it just says a required component is missing and then goes back. What's up with that? Should I do an uninstall and reinstall? I know this thing seems to be constantly on and off the market, so I worry about doing that.

Hit Cancel or No. Watch movies. Profit.
Hmm...it almost seems too simple.
Granted, it works as-is, but it just sort of annoys me.
I have run into the same issue. I simply copied the current, up-to-date Netflix apk off of my Droid and put it on the SD card of the Nook. Installed it from there and everything is up-to-date with no annoying notifications.
I was having the same problem. I am running CM7 nightly off SD. Netflix was not showing in the market so I could not update. I searched and found this file --"com.netflix.mediaclient-1.apk". I loaded the app to the SD card using Samba Filesharing app and installed it. It updated Netflix, no more problems. Hope this helps
Cool. Thanks, guys.
I just updated my NOOK app and it does not run. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the same result. Anyone else gotten the updated nook app that came out today running under CM7?
EDIT: Never mind. I cleared Data and then it was able to run. . . It does require a complete reload of all of your books due to a new architecture. . . so bear that in mind. . .
Hopefully this addresses the general crappy performance the old nook app had under cm7. I swear every other app I use works flawlessly. The old nook app constantly forced closes, is very insensitive to touches, and just plain old sucks. Eventually when you got it to load a book it is pretty stable but will still lose your spot every so often.
It drove me to set up dual boot stock/cm7. I am booting back to CM7 now to test the new version out!

agreed, not really impressed with the nook app, it does work though (newest update). irritates the hell out of me when it loses my place, i've found that the bookmark feature seems to work if I can remember to use it lol.
The only reason I use the Nook app is to show off to my little niece about the page-flip feature, that's all.
I read .epub using either Cool Reader or Aldiko while using Adobe Reader for .pdf.
How did you install the the 2.7 update? While the nook app shows up in the Market, there is no option to install or update. When I go to the web based Market interface, it claims that the nook app is not compatible with my CM7 Nook Color. I've tried the usual fixes like editing the build.prop file for screen density (160/161) and also to make the device/manufacturer appear to be HTC. No luck. I found a 2.6 apk that works fine, but have yet to find a 2.7 apk outside the Market. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Uninstall the market update and you can search it and it will have a download button.
I wish the nook app supported the "read to me" books that I bought and now can't use unless I put stock back on my nook. I'd like to also be able to read them on my phone or another tablet.

I am running into the same issue with Phiremod'd 6.3 and the B&N android app.
However in my case, once uninstalled (original was corrupt and would not work), returning to the Android Marketplace and selecting the app does not bring up a download button. Gives me all the info about the application, but no app download or uninstall.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening? If it were windows, I'd say there was a registry setting left that was making the system think the app was still installed...

Total noob here, just got my nook color last week. I have CM7 on an SD card and I am having the 'no download button' problem. Can you point me how I can install the old market? Thanks.

I have a quick question: is it possible to lock the old market down so it doesn't auto-upgrade. Every now and then, out of the blue, I fire up the market only to find that the app has updated. I can then stop the Market and uninstall updates. But it's a pain in the a$$ to do that over and over and over...
Uninstall the market updater app. (I used Titanium Backup for that.)
