[Q] Flexable Calender/Agenda app? - Dell Streak 7

I am looking for a Calender/agenda program that allows flexable repeat scheduling of events. For example I need to be able to repeat an event every x number of days or weeks either m times or indefinatly. I have found lots of packages that will allow repeat scheduling every day but not every third day for example, or every other week, or every other day for 6 events only. Any suggestions?

Automatic time zone change = acting like a beta

Hi all,
did anyone had a chance to try this new WM6 feature more than once ?
it looks like they quickly added this to the kaiser while it's not working properly yet :
I change country several times a day (airline pilot) and this automatic adjustment worked (almost!) only ONCE (the first time it entered a new country).
here is what happenned the first time this automatic adjustement almost worked :
Time in niamey is UTC+1 = same as time in dublin.
Arriving at niamey, automatic switching occurs and pda time is automatically set to utc+1 and a time zone of dublin (good!). Dublin has the same time of niamey right now because of its dst. So until now everything looks satisfactory.
The problem: Looking closer, i see my appointments times are on UTC time despite the pda time being set correctly (automatically) to utc+1 !
switching manually my time zone to another one, pressing ok button, and coming back to dublin time zone again (but this time manually) gives me the correct time in niamey (same as dublin) as did the automatic adjustment did, but now at least the appointments times on pda are also on utc+1 (niamey time ).
Since then , the pda (kaiser) never changed the time zone again, despite the automatic features being turned ON... it does looks as if i select manually a time zone in the clock setting. the automatic time zone adjustment won't "work" anymore, no matter if it's checked on or not... ("work" in quotation marks because it didn't work satisfactorily even once yet).
Anybody experiences this bug ?
One thing
You do know that when you change the time zone, appointment times automatically shift so that the actual time of the event in the new time zone matches the actual time in old time zone? In other words absolute appointment times are a function of the current time zone setting. If you want to enter an appointment for an event that will occur in another time zone you should switch that time zone first and then enter the appointment in the local time zone and time and then switch the time zone back to your current time zone. You will see that the time of the appointment is listed in your current time zone such that is will occur at the time you set if for IN THE OTHER time zone (and these two numbers representing the time are not the same!). Seems a bit odd but makes sense after some thought. There is really no way for the device to know what time zone an event is scheduled for.
BTW there has been some software written to alter this default behavior of WM but I am not sure it really helps. Just another convention. More info on google...
Your other problem sounds like it may be WM not recognizing a whether or not a particular region is on dst. Just speculation on this though. I have not traveled far with my device yet nor crossed a local dst date. Here are details on the recent changes to the dst system in the US and the MS patch for this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx#connectto_exchange_server
I think it is a bug in WM6. I have had the same type of problem in Sydney, where instead of automatically recognising Sydney(Australia), it changes to Vladivostok....and like your example causes the appointments to move incorrectly.
Either the Radio ROM is not getting the timezone correctly off the network (unlikely because my Hermes which has different radio had same problem) - or more like, WM6 doesn't interpret the data it gets from the Radio correctly.

Yes I do know that, and it is very logical. I use pda around the world for a few years now so i know that
Maybe i didn't explain myself clearly, so i wil try again :
I'm in Paris and it's now 12am (noon) i have an appointment at 2pm (so appointment is IN TWO hours) with a reminder 1 hour before (1pm).
I suddenly got teleported (in less than a second ) to a country where the time is one hour less than in Paris. so in paris it's now still 12 am and in this new place : 11 am.
Well, what happened is that the Kaiser time is now showing 11 am (that s good),
but, You agree that the appointment time should be showing now 1pm (new time zone) with a reminder at noon.
BUT this is not what happened. The appointments got changed to noon, with the reminder at 11am (=now!, and that how i noticed the bug... the reminder displayed on the kaiser while it was supposed to do so only IN one hour).
in brief : the kaiser time changed correctly, but the appointments timing didn't follow and got changed to another time zone (displayed pda time + appointment timing are supposed to shift together to the same time zone as usual, but it didn't). Appointment was supposed to be in 2 hours, and after the automatic time zone change appointment is hapenning in 1 hour.
a manual reverting to paris time zone then back MANUALLY to this new time zone set correctly both the time AND the appointment time.
Hope it's clear now... i know all this stuff can be confusing

GPS logger for use a couple of times a day

In 10 days I am going to travel constantly for 6 weeks. I am bringing my camera and was wondering if anyone could recommend a gps logging program for my diamond for this kind of use. I have different approaches, not sure which one will be best.
- Activate it 2-3 times a day to get my location at various locations. (could be easy to forget)
- One that activates automaticly at a set interval, maybe 1-2 hours. (I could have my phone of during the night and in phone mode most of the days).
Choosing one of those, what program will work best?
Thx!

Minor issues with calendar

I have noticed that when you make a new appointment, the end time ends 1 hour later than the start.
However on the Office (PC) its 30 minutes.
How can you change this on the phone - make it automatically?

[QUESTION] Is there any way to restart Tasker?

Hi guys,
as the title says, is there any way to restart Tasker service from a task in Tasker itself?
Situation: sometimes Tasker suddenly freezes up, tasks are not carried out fully, and I received rejected copy or queue maxed out error. In such cases, I have to restart Tasker.
The procedure is: holding tasker symbol on the top part of the screen until it turns grey. Back out of tasker, go back in, and hold that symbol again until it turn colored.
Is there a way to force Tasker to do this, via a task maybe?
thanks
No. You can create a task to disable, but not enable. Besides once you disable, it would stop the task from running to re-enable it.

You should just fix your runaway task. That's what the max queue limit is for...to let you know one of your tasks is being called in a recursive loop.
Sent from my g928c powered by RiverRom RR5 and SkyHigh 5.7
thanks for the replies. That's exactly the problem, after disabling, there's no way to re-enable itself.
Have you tried clear cache and re-install Tasker? I had problems with time based contexts that wouldn't trigger when it was supposed to, after clear cache/re-install everything worked like a charm.
I, like you, would like this because my time lapse, cloud sync task, seems to be blocked from the lg camera after a random number of hours.
I have tried everything, and the only thing to try next is to kill tasker and restart it, somehow with an external app.
I have tasker checking the email for the time lapse interval (1,3,5,15 minutes), then then choose the appropriate loop (5 minute default if no email), then upload the compressed as webp photos to Google drive at minute 12. I run the 12 to 14 minute script, every 15 minutes. Overnight, 9pm to 6:59am, it takes a picture every half hour. 7am,8am,7pm,8pm, it takes 4 photos per hour. Saturday and Sunday are one photo every 15 minutes. These are my jobsite cameras and remote eyeballs, and honesty boxes, as I call them, which document all work and contract fulfillment with no opportunity to skip steps or take risks, in a time lapse manner.
Unfortunately, the Android 10, LG g8 phones seem to running into weird snags every xx hours and a 0b jpg is all I get in the dcim/tasker folder. The moment I physically touch the phone, the script starts taking regular photos. I do not know it the problem is hardware, android 10, or tasker beta.
I could not find out how to clear the media store. I doubt if tasker can clear its own cache or if that would help.
There is now. Newer action called "Restart Tasker".

Make phone send a notification every ten seconds?

Hello,
I'm currently taking driving lessons and one of the most basic thing a driver should do is look in the rearview mirrors at least once every 5-7 seconds. That's the recommended time interval in my country. However, I keep forgetting to do this and I need a constant reminder, at least until I form a habit.
I want to use Tasker to set up an alert / notification to go out every 10 seconds on my Android smartphone. This will then be caught by my Amazfit Bip on my left wrist, which will vibrate when the notification is issued. This way I'll have a constant reminder during driving lessons to check the mirrors.
I tried to set up Tasker, but it only lets me create an event every two minutes. Is there any way to lower this threshold to 10 seconds? Or maybe another app which can achieve this?
Cheers.

Instead of using an a time context, create a loop with a 10 second wait in a task. Make sure you have a way to turn this off. Possibly set a variable and launch a notification at the start of the task. In the notification, use an action button to clear the variable. Loop only if the variable is set.
