When I plug my galaxy tab into my tv to watch a movie,I don't get subtitles on the tv,only on the tab. Anyone know a way to do this. The only way for me at the moment is to hardcode them on the pc,but this is a slow process.

For anyone interested. My solution was to use the standard video player, name the subtitle file same as the movie and for viewing other languages not supported, open the subtitle file on a PC with Notepad and re-save them as .. And choose in the code page drop down menu ÜTF-8. This will then display any language

There is a trial version of Dice player, very awesome and supports subtitles inside the file. See if it works with the video out and if you like it, I know I do

I tried Dice player but unfortunately subs don't work with video out. My fix works perfect now though

Quick question does it show embedded subs? Ex. Subs that display on a flash video?

Can somebody suggest some settings for converting movies (avi and mkv) with handbreak using Ubuntu. I use it all the time in windows, but every video I convert in Ubuntu produces "sorry, this video can't be played". I've pretty switched from windows to Ubuntu with the exception of this. Thanks.

The Iphone handbrake preset should be compatible with the nook video player.

Here's a preset for handbrake I picked up somewhere on this forum. Wasn't able to find the thread with a search.
The apple preset worked great. Will try the attached settings next. Thanks guys.

No one kind enough to put a reply

Could have something to do with hardware acceleration. In my experience ICS tends to only play sound when HW acc is on. At least with mxplayer. Try turning it off if you have the option.

Might be the video is encoded with unsupported codec, or with a supported codec but unsupported parameters (e.g. to high resolution, or too many reference frames if x264, etc)
Try free mxPLayer from play store, it supports a wider set of video codec than Samsung player
Optionally, get MediaInfo software for windows pc, and post details of video
Thank you for the reply..yes I tried mx player via software rendered not hardware but the video play is lagging and strobing/ stuttering..

I run the latest version of CM9 (found close the en of the CM9 thread in dev section) and hw acc works great. My tip of the day. It's ICS with the CM flavour.

So its not possible for stock samsung rom to fix the video playing functions?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Dunno. I believe I had to do with SW decoding when I was on stock ICS. Most media played excellent though. Only had trouble with big .mkv-files.
Sent from my GT-P7310 using xda app-developers app
Yup I had trouble playing movie mkv it only displays sound and subtitles..

Mx player is verry laggy.Try BS Player , is better than Mx
Sent from my GT-P7300 using xda app-developers app
Mx player is not buggy at all u just gotta install the codecs that fits ur processor.
Mx is the best video player I have come across.

are you talking about the media share app?
the player has to be DLNA compliant. From there you press the menu button and select the dlna player you want to play the video on. Works great for me through my xbox 360

Not that at all. For instance. When I'm on the Facebook app and click on a video. I can't watch them anymore. It says file format not supported.

Sounds like a flash player issue

Maybe you accidentally set a different default app for streaming? For example ES file explorer has an ES video player, and it would try to play streams when I would click on them.

I'm having that problem too on rooted stock. Just downloaded MX Player from the Play Store for streaming purposes.
