Hm, suddenly my Calender app don't work. I start the app and get the msg "No Calender in use" (Or something, I have a norwegian phone). In settings there is no "Calender" to choose...
How can I get it to work again?
My Google-account don't seem to have "Calender-sync" thing...
Don't know if you tried this but you may want to remove and add the google account again so that it can sync your calendar.

I have contacts on my phone most of them don't have email accounts they are just phone numbers. When I try to sync my contacts to the gmail account on my phone none of the numbers show up in my gmail account contacts listing. However, if I have contact phone numbers in my gmail account and do a sync, the phone numbers come to my phone. Basically, it is like the sync is only working in one direction. How can I fix this?
I'm fairly confident the sync does only work in that one direction...someone else correct me if I'm wrong?

when you add a contact on your phone, you have to choose "google" as where it's saved or else it won't sync to google

Ok, so how do you add the google 'g' to contacts you already have on your phone without just recreating them all?

I am not in front of my phone, but there is an option to export all contacts to a file and then an option to import them. I imported all my mine and added them to "phone" so i could add custom ringtones.
You may be able to add them all to google on the phone the same way.
There is also a market app for exporting contacts to csv - you may be able to do this then import through google on the desktop. YOu can use the linking feature to link phone contacts to google contacts.
Hi, I am a new android user. I am having problem getting my google calendar (web) to sync with the phone. It doesn't show the option for me to select and sync the calendar with my google account. By the way I have 2 google account. Once is for random junk and the other is for school. So far the the captivate only lets me sync the Calendar with the junk account but not the other account for school. I tried removing the account and adding it again it would only let me sync mail and contacts but no calendar option. I was thinking of removing my junk account but it says that I need to do a factory restore which I don't want to do. Has anyone run into this problem? I search but couldn't find anything similar.
Hi
I have an HTC Heron with Android 2.1. I used to be able to sync and link the ocntacts on my phone with those who appear on Facebook. However, now I can't and it's very annoying. I have tried a few times to remove and reinstall the Android Facebook app but there is no syncing option within the app, although there should be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Look in (not in the app, but) the system settings -> accounts/ synchronization (or something similar)
Already tried that with no luck.
yeah you need to add facebook, just as above post Settings>Accounts & Sync> Add Account> Facebook
If still no joy, there is a way of doing it the phonebook/contacts. There should be a little button to the far right on the same line as the persons names is and you can sync them that way. AFIK their is no way to do multiple persons so its one at a time
fairly simple download and install facebook for android apk from google market, add a facebook account via Settings>Accounts & Sync> Add Account> Facebook, authenticate with your account details, select sync with existing contacts, download and install GO Contacts EX from google market.
This will offer to import facebook and sim accounts, click settings, and merge, select name - you can now merge all the duplicate contacts together
You can also add twitter accounts just add the twitter apk from the market , then follow the above steps
Thanks everyone for your help. I have tried removing and readding HTC Facebook Sense. No luck still. I then backed up my entire phone and did a factory reset - no change though. My Facebook widget did not return and I did still cannot get my Contacts to sync with the Facebook app downloaded from the Market, so I am in the same position as before.
All I want to do is to link some of my contacts who are on Facebook with their Facebook profile as I did before with no extra apps. Until very recently, I had the HTC Facebook widget, the Android Facebook widget and syncing contacts. Suddenly, my HTC Widget has mysteriously gone. I've written to HTC to see what they say.
had this problem recently, tried all the usual advice etc. only thing that worked was fcontactssync. you can uninstall it once you've linked everything.
hope this helps..
Thank you will try this next time. However, the day after I sent this message, weirdly my contacts all synced back again to Facebook! They hadn't done this for weeks! However, I did contact HTC and the Facebook for Android Developmer about my problem so maybe that haed something to do with this working again. Someone else I know haad the same problem which corrected on the same day as me!
Hi,
Previously I was using a Dell Streak and I was able to disable contact syncing with my Google accounts.
Actually I have 2 google accounts and I wanna sync only contacts with one of them.

Go to contacts--Options--More--Accounts
Select the account you dont want your contacts to be merged from. Uncheck "Sync Contacts"
Hope that helped.
Cheers
thanks. that option disables further sync of contacts from that account but it didn't delete the contacts coming from that account.
How can I delete existing contacts of that account ?
Also, I need the similar for calendar. Is there similar option ?

All'ite. Why don't you do this?
At this step you have disabled syncing your contacts to an account;lets call that account GAcc2. Lets call the account that you would like the contacts to be synced/Displayed from as GAcc1
Now you want to delete the contacts that have been synced from GAcc2.
So Go to Contacts--More--Display Options--Accounts and select contacts to be displayed only from GAcc2(i.e. uncheck the contact boxes for GAcc1). After this step the contacts that are displayed are only from GAcc2(the one you don't want). Simply select all the contacts and delete them. So this means we deleted "ONLY" GAcc2 contacts.
After this step again go to "Display Options" and under accounts select GAcc1.
and voila you will have only GAcc1 contacts left.
Do the same with calendar.
Hope that helped.
Cheers.
thank you. that's a good idea.
But when I delete from my Note, is there a risk of deleting them from Google acct GAcc2 ?
Also, some contacts are coming from both Google accounts. When I delete them, will I lose them from both accounts ?
And, how can I do that for calendar ? I can't find the correct app...
thx
Keep Auto Sync off, that will niether sync mail/contact/calender, when you need to sync it manually, just press on desire item n it will sync for that time only.
Further Now you can get Gmail with setup of Email application separately.

No that would be not an issue. Remember at that step you would have switched syncing to GAcc2 as "off". Just make sure you don't click "Merge with google".
If you are really scared and want to be backup proof i would suggest this;
I'm sure you would be having windows installed with Microsoft office. Microsoft office would have an app called microsoft exchange. Create a dummy account in exchange with a local Dat. Then go to google and search for tools to copy google contacts to exchange. There are plenty. Once you are done with that you would have a backup of your contacts. Similarly there are plenty of tools to do the reverse as well i.e. Microsoft Exchange -->Google server; this way you can restore it too.
Regarding the calendar its the same thing bro.
Browse to Settings-->Account and Sync--> select the account that you dont want calendar to be synced from-->Uncheck 'Sync Calendar'
Hope that helped.
Cheers.
Using Exchange Server with Android, without Google Contacts but with Market
THis post intended for people who use Exchange
Using Exchange Server with Android, without Google Contacts but with Market
To prevent your Google Accounts showing up in an Exchange Server minded device, uncheck autosync.
Create your Exchange account first, sync
Uncheck autosync
disable Wifi (your device must have slow connection)
Then add your google account.
Press Sync, but be DAMN fast to go to the account settings and quickly
uncheck the Contact,Calendar.
This way, you can have a fully Exchange server minded device, without
any junk from Google Downloaded, with Market access.
This is my first Android phone and I'd like to sync my S-Planner calendar with my gmail account but I can't get it to work.
On the Note I go S-Planner>settings>calendars and check "My calendar" and the email account. Then >Calendar sync>Sync all.
My Agenda items should appear in the calendar on gmail right? But they don't. Can anyone help please?
There are other threads on this - you should've searched the forums first (as per the rules)
In an attempt to help, just from recollection, My Calendar IS the local phone calendar and can only be synced via Kies. If you want to sync with google then you need to use your google account calendar instead. In S-Planner settings untick My Calendar and tick the calendar for your google account. All appointments should now be added to your google account and sync with google's servers. Obviously you'll have to add your entries again Or work out how to move them.

Thank you. Yes, of course I checked other posts, but I couldn't find anyone who couldn't sych at all and who was able to identify a reason that I hadn't already explored, hence the question. As a teacher I know the joy of sharing knowledge, so thank you for your help.
