Not sure if anybody else has seen this app, it lets you change your caller id when calling somebody else
http://store.androidguys.com/product.asp?id=29829
I can't even find it on the Bluff My Call website and its not in the market as far as I can tell. Its free, says its supported by ads, when you make a call it gives you a 10 second add to listen too. It says it can change your voice and record your call but when I tried it said the servers didn't support those features. Also, you can only make a 2 minute call with it.

Sounds like hes nervous about it being some app that looks cool but steals information from our phones.

You will find that it mentions it for the iPhone and Blackberrys. http://bluffmycall.com/ also mentions having to pay for the app while http://store.androidguys.com/product.asp?id=29829 has an app by bluffmycall and its free. Yeah, pretty much sums it up, has anybody used it before, seems kind of strange but could be a very good app?
i think its the same as the 123 Spoof app available on the market
So has anyone else tried it?
i reccomend SpoofApp ive had so much fun with it.
it works -.- all i can say lol
I've been accused lately of having screwed up the person who I was immitatings service, being told that they can't go online with their tilt, and that they're missing calls. Can anyone verify that there is absolutely no possible way that this could happen?
bluff my call
ive tried it works great, havent received any calls or text from marketers...so far so good!!
do anyone know if bluffmycall show up on ur account as a hidden fee or what..is it a free program cuz its on the market if anyone looking for it here is the apk
I've been using this app for months! no problems guys! have some fun with friends and call someone when they dont pick up my calls. Doesn't do any harm trust me! Its free for 2 min. but you can't use any features unless you buy minutes!
Cant get it to work in Singapore... The country code is 65 so I tried +65 and +0065 and nothing works. Getting error saying invalid phone number...
So, I've been looking for a way to control your hero with your voice, like you can with the iPhone 3GS, where you can do just about anything by just telling it to do it.
Ofc i've searched an googled, but the only thing i find is "google talk / google voice" which AFAIK is a sort of IP phone which uses Internet to call with your special google number, which apparently is very cheap(closed beta though)..
anyway, is there an app for talking to your phone to make it do stuff?
I think i've seen a movie somewhere on the Internet where a guy speaks to a android devise and the phone types exactly what he said into a SMS Message without any wrongs... anyone else know about this?

I'm not sure but I think what your asking is in Android 1.6 check out the link below and you should see voice action start at 1:05 in the video.

When is the 1,6 release anyway?
1.6 is already out. We're waiting for someone to cook the ROM to be use in the Hero. The Sprint HTC Hero comes with 1.6.

Android 1.6 is being released for all Android phones starting last week. The new phones coming out should be or will be released with the newest rom available, thats why in this case HTC hero for Sprint is 1.6. The Hero is not due out until the 11th of Oct. i think, Android 1.6 is just the rom that was available for this phone.
The Speak function you asked about to run apps was released in an earlier Android I think Cup cake. The Text to speech TTS is a function released in Android 1.6. The video you seen I think I saw on a google video showing things possible with cup cake I think it was going to be in one of the roms to come, I will see if I can find that Video and post it later.
Can anyone tell me of an app whereby when I call someone and they're on the phone, my phone tells me. I know Samsung's Touchwiz does this. HTC doesn't do it with Sense though and I'm running CM which doesn't do it either.
Bump?

AFAIK, Android does not have that feature. Samsung and Sony add that by themselves
It actually sucks to think that something so basic is patent encumbered. I'm guessing that's why I'm also yet to find an app to provide this missing functionality.

In terms of non-Android I know Nokia does and I was surprised to be told that Apple doesn't. Am really quite gutted that this can't be done with a simple app.
It works on my Inc s. I've enabled call wait from my service provider, so when I'm on a call and someone else calls, I get a series of beeps with the other caller number or contact data flashed on my phone. I just have to accept, reject or ignore the second call and the first caller gets into hold... its all available on your phones too, you only need to enable it in call settings and of course, with your service provider too

That's the wrong way round. I have mine enabled for people calling me. But what I'm referring to with this thread is a notification to say that when I call someone else, I'm alerted to the fact that they're already on a call.
@Sabret00the
Wouldn't that be a function that the person you're calling, needs to enable with his service provider? I usually get a recorded message saying that the person you are calling is on another call... wait for him to respond, or hang up & dial later. The phone displays number busy... isn't that so? Or then I'm confused....
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA
Nope. It's a standard feature for Samsung's, Sony's and Nokia. If I ring from my IncS and someone is on the phone, it just rings normally. If I ring from a Samsung it states on screen that "the person you're dialling is on a call".

Yup, something like a beep and a toaster that says "Your call is being held".
After using the Nexus 4 for 24 hours, I have found I have two gripes with this phone. The first is there is no audible alert if you receive a text message while on a call. In other words, if someone sends you a text message while you are on a call, you will not be made aware of it until you turn on the screen and look at it. The other gripe I have is the call waiting beep is almost completely inaudible, and the second beep sometimes doesn't even occur. In other words, if you are on a phone call, and a second call comes in, you most likely will not know about it and thus will not be know to answer the call. Today I have missed several phone calls because I was on the phone and a call waiting beep could not be heard. As an experiment, I got on a call and then called my phone from a third phone just to hear the volume of the call waiting beep...it is so low it may as well not be there. To make matters worse, after the first beep, the second beep takes so long to occur, your voicemail may likely pick it up either right before or right after the second beep occurs.
Software, not nexus 4 issue. I'm sure there's an app or will be implemented into ROM to solve your problem.

The software comes stock on the Nexus 4 thus it is a Nexus 4 issue. Not being alerted to a second call isn't something that can be easily excused with, "there's an app or will be implemented into a ROM". A person shouldn't need to install apps or hack their phone just so they can know when a second call is coming in...after all it's a smartPHONE..
Sms issue can be solved with a 3rd party Sms app the call beep not so big of an issue to me so that's all I can say.

Maybe not being alerted of calls isn't a big deal to you, but there are some of us that get important calls throughout the day, and not being alerted to them is not acceptable. Call me old-fashioned but I expect a phone to actually be able to handle phone duties, and alerting me to a second call is one of those duties. That's a pretty basic expectation, and a glaring flaw that needs to be corrected.

It's clear I like the phone? I haven't stated how I feel about the phone besides the two issues I have with it. Also, for your information, complaining is how issues get resolved because it brings it more attention. Some of us aren't content with resting on our laurels and accepting the subpar. Furthermore, 3rd party software should not be required just to get simple basic functionality. Instead of excusing shortcomings, you should be demanding a complete device. Also, to be clear, I want to like the phone and want to see it succeed. I have a vested interest in it (which I won't get into publicly), so it actually benefits me for it to be a good phone and do well. That said, if it's falling short somewhere then it needs to be corrected and not just covered up.

It's set to have both an audible alert and vibrate on incoming messages. The problem is, during a phone call, neither of these things happens. There literally is no alert during a phone call other than the icon on the screen. In other words, if you don't happen to be looking at your screen, you will never know you have a text message if you are on a phone call.

First of all, it's not a Nexus 4 issue, it's a 4.2 issue.
Second of all, I doubt Google would remove a feature they have had since...idk 2.2(the first version of Android I had). Try a restore, or mess with the settings...or maybe you're holding it wrong.

I've never tried it but I imagine that if you used the voice recorder on your phone in a silent area and ran it for a couple of seconds that you could set that as the ringtone for that number. It's worth trying if you don't want to download something.

You do know you can call your provider and have numbers blocked right? And you're on an android development site full of roms, themes, apps, etc., and you're afraid to install an app that will hang up on an unwanted caller? Idk if you should be on this site. Yes, I know they make non smartphones. I just got this phone, my 1st smartphone, primarily for the camera. It has way better camera than any non smartphone I could find. An Android phone is not like a computer the apps are kept secure and away from the important system files as long as the phone is not rooted (rooted is like having admin rights in windows but with android you have to jump through hoops to activate the rights). If a app is doing something that you do not like just uninstall it and it will be like it was never there and it will have no ability to be able to destroy anything on a "stock" phone. Feel free to download and install whatever you want from the play store it will not cause damage that will cannot be easily reversed.
