I was just curious, if you where to use someone's work as a base for your own work, you do the right thing and notify the person whose work you plan on using. If you never get a response can you safely infer that the person doesn't mind? If so, do you release your work here and just give them a shootout in the op? I've seen people do these things without asking and the responses vary greatly from instance to instance, so I was just wondering if there was a proper etiquette by which you can't go wrong but don't have to wait 6 months for a response? Thank you for your answers in advance

I think if you give more than a shout out its usually ok. Just make sure its clear the base or whatever is the other persons work is clearly outlined and documented. Like citing a source in an essay.

Simply a theme. I won't even use any of their work. I just don't know how to build it myself. So I just thought I'd edit each picture within 7zip without extracting it then using apk signer

Generally, I'd think crediting them in the OP of the thread you start for the project you release would be plenty, given that the person whose base it is hasn't specifically said not to use it. Besides, you did try to ask them personally......it's not a Kang.

Cause this same thing was posted about a month ago by the same person and the same thing happened.
Also getting the keyboard to work would most likely involve having to tear things out of motoblur (which is closed source) which I'm pretty sure was also said way back when.

Nikolai I point out repeat threads so I don't have to look at the same thread 100 times.
I worked with the hacked apk for about an hour last night and got nowhere. I can get the keyboard to show but if I try to hit anything it fc's. I will try tonight on cyanogen to see if it is maybe sense being supid. I'm ar work now but will maybe get some free time to try it in a few minutes here.

so i posted this on someone else looking for this keyboard. IF you download smart keyboard there is a droid x skin you can download. Looks exactly the same and smart keyboard is better keyboard.
Just tried on cyanogen with the same results. Seems like we are going to need to have a custim built apk for the thunderbolt. Or as others have said, get smart keyboard with the x skin.

Cool, and I seem to get where you're coming from given some other stuff that's happened with devs' work over the last couple of months (threads being locked until sources posted, etc). There is a such thing as too many rules. Hey I know you're not saying anything as I read the OP, just my two bits.

I know I haven't said much of why I had stuff pulled but I'll leave it at this....I'm really frustrated with xda and what seems to be a lot of politics that comes with it. I will eventually repost all my work and then some as my frustrating wears off. As of right now I think I am going to give up developing until I can get a better laptop or the parts to upgrade my desktop. It sucks when you are building stuff and you can't multitask at all because of the build hogging all the CPU power

I actually have a decently functioning d2att port. How to install if interested:
First make a backup
Then wipe data. You can dirty flash if you're already running cm10.1 but don't dirty flashes are a no-no.
Then flash this:
http://db.tt/p4FgJsnN
Then flash this:
http://db.tt/KoRbVtrT
But WiFi/cell service doesn't work at all yet so just understand that before you flash. Also the screen doesn't really shut off. Sort of a pain in the butt but still, its for developers haha.
Oh and also MAKE A BACKUP.
This actually isn't all my work, i just simply modified a few text files. Here is the original thread:
