All applications force closing after reset (switching batteries)

Ok this has happened to me twice now, after turning off my phone and switching batteries every applications except for stock ones will continually force close. I am using Voodoo lagfix on JM1 official so unsure if this is causing it. I am able to fix applications by running titanium backup and restoring the apps but this becomes tedious with the free version and I'm having issues with paypal donating for the paid version.
Has this happened to anyone else? I'm thinking maybe the issue is that I pull the battery out a second too soon and it somehow corrupts the data.

Same problem here with a i9000b 2.2.1 Kernel 2.6.32.9
When I switch between the original and spare batteries, the first confg screen comes out (language and first options). Most not-stock apps forcing close and google maps also not working.
I've had to the factory reset twice, so i decided to do experiences. I switched many times, with and without "no stock apps" installed; after 1 munute off; just after the screen out and without switching off at all. The funny thing is that I had no problems these times, except the config screen coming when I didn't switch off before switching (but apps didn't force closing).
It seams to me that the bug happens when memory is quite full or you have made some more configurations. I will try to continue my normal use and see what happens if I switch spare-original battery again.

this same thing happened to me, but i use launcher pro so can't do anything and clockworkmod is not in the recovery anymore so i can't restore to a previous configuration. WTF? anybody have a fix for this?

[Q] LauncherPro Settings Keep Resetting?

My old (batch 1010) Captivate was running Darky's 8.0+Speedmod K12I Kernel just fine, but I had to exchange it due to random shutdown issues. I backed everything up using CWM, TitaniumBackup, and LauncherPro's built-in backup, and copied the internal SD to my laptop before resetting and returning the phone.
Now I have a brand new Captivate (batch 1009, but a higher IMEI without the random shutdown issue), and in a matter of minutes, I had it up and running Darky's 8.0+Speedmod K12J kernel. I restored all my apps using TitaniumBackup, but I had an issue with LauncherPro--while all my icons were present, LauncherPro retained the default settings (ie. number of homescreens, show icon labels, auto-rotation, etc.). On top of that, adding any widgets duplicated the widget into every possible space on all 3 (should have been 4) of my homescreens.
I reset LauncherPro and tried to restore the launcherpro_backup on my internal SD, but I kept getting an error asking me to check if the SD card was mounted (it definitely was). So I completely uninstalled LauncherPro and cleared all related data, then re-downloaded it from the market.
But I still cannot change any settings No matter what settings I change, they instantly revert to the defaults. Restoring a backup gave the same results as before. What should I do now? I really don't want to reflash, because I had to manually restore over 100 apps using the free version of Titanium Backup >_<

As for launcher pro problems, are other apps having problems restoring data? Did you try going into preferences in tibu and changing the app processing mode to indirect? I have read that this solves strange problems for some. I always use tibu for lp restore and typically a restart of lp after restore brings everything back but widgets of course. Also, I'm sure you checked debugging but have to ask.

Well, thanks for the suggestions. I do plan on buying some necessary apps, but I don't yet have any method setup of paying for any of them (I literally used my 5-year-old 'gamer' Gmail account as my phone's Google Account). I decided that since I had nothing to lose, I would try restoring the backup from my previous Cappy using CWM, and everything seems to be working fine now (although I had to manually restore a couple of apps using TiBu). Whatever was going on seems to have been an isolated issue (other apps restored fine, debugging was enabled).

On a completely unrelated note, I'm not sure what to think of the screen on my replacement Captivate. My original one was a bit cool in color temperature, but turning down the brightness to minimum left me with an extremely balanced color gamut and a nice, warm, pure white. The new Captivate has a noticeable lean toward yellow, which seems to be in part caused by the blue OLED's in this screen looking more of an indigo color. Grayscale gradients appear much better (not suffering from pinkish and bluish hues), but a completely dark-gray screen seems to show some odd, blocky unevenness throughout the display. I also noticed that this display looks a bit 'smoother' when it comes to color images--almost less crisp, but the PenTile matrix is far less obvious when watching video compared to my old Captivate. On the flipside, small text seems to be even more pixelated than on my previous screen. Weird.

Glad whatever it was resolved itself. As for the screen, we have three captivates and the one my wife got was a bit like you describe regarding color. It didn't bother her but every time I looked at her screen I could see the difference and I finally just called and had a replacement sent being that it was beyond thirty days. The screens do have variations and if you are not happy I would suggest getting another.

Well maybe I spoke too soon. My phone was running fine, even after several reboots. Then suddenly, the phone froze while in standby (requiring a battery pull, different than completely shutting off like the old phone). Now whenever I turn on the phone, it immediately black-screens and locks up after the unlock screen. Gonna try reflashing and seeing if I get LauncherPro problems again...

Problem - Apps dissapeared, settings reverting to default.

Let's start with some basic information. I am running not rooted stock Froyo 2.2.1, Baseband version I9000XXJPY, Kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1, Build number FROYO.XXJPY. Using stock TW Launcher.
In the morning I've moved couple of apps to SD card. Few hours later my battery went flat and the phone turned off. I've replaced the battery with a fully charged one and the phone was booting quite a while and when it finished it started with locale setting screen. At the same time several apps started to force close unexpectedly. When I went through all the initial settings the wallpaper was the same, icons and widget layout was the same. There were many apps missing (I reckon all of them were installed on the SD card). Many apps that remained were either force closing just after starting or had the settings reverted to defaults.
Some examples:
- Android Agenda widget was in its place but settings missing.
- I've reinstalled TwittCaster and moved to Phone - although it looks like the data/settings are being wiped after every phone restart and I need to put my login details every time.
It looks like many of the apps are reverting settings to default every time I restart the phone.
Both my external and internal cards seems fine, I can access and open files (e.g. photos and music) on them.
When I was trying to install some apps from the Market I was getting error messages that the app cannot be installed in the chosen destination, or there is not enough space. But after few tries I've managed to install them. As far as I know there should be quite a lot of available space.
I've tried to unmount/mount external card, take it out and in again. I've formatted cache partition from recovery mode. I've tried to clear RAM with Task Manager.
I would be grateful if someone could help me to diagnose the reason behind all this, help me to fix it and prevent it from happening in future. I really want to understand the problem and the trigger so I can avoid similar problems in the future

Sorry to bump, but this is really driving me mad.
It appears that I need to reinstall every app as they all closing unexpectedly on starting. after I reinstall them they loosing settings every time I restart the phone. Is it an external or internal card issue or maybe internal memory? Please help!
I have also noticed that Android Market is quite slow on me. Muc, much slower then before it ask happened.

sounds like hardware failure to me. Its back to factory and exhibiting problems. Why not take it back and have it replaced/fixed?

Strange problem this...
I guess format, reflash and clean install of apps would be a better option... instead of just re-installing apps...

I just wish to avoid sending it for a repair. This is a new replacement I get several days ago from Samsung, for which I was fighting for 4 months.
Anyway I will try to format and reset everything and build everything up from scratch. But if only I could understand how and why it happened maybe I would be able to prevent it from happening in the future.
Is there a special way I can format sd cards before installing and moving apis there?

Hi there everybody
I've installed [ROM][ICS 4.0.3][Unoffical Port] AOKP Build23 by vibranturk ROM.
Problems I found
1. android.media.process crashing always /almost every minute/
2. cant get in to market /meaning couldn't install any app yet/
3. cant get in to gallery
4. cant get in to music player
4. cant take secreenshot by default setting
5. sound is enabled but doesn't work. /not even play ringtones /
6. screen brightness not enough for day light
7. cant take photo by camera /android.media.process crashing/
Actually ROM is amazing. But without market its feels nothing.
Has anybody have same problem and about how to solve etc?
PS: I flashed 2 times.

You should start from fresh cuz not one problem that you stated has occured to me.....only bug is that when i reboot the batt % is off..
market works perfectly
...everything does atually
idk but just start fresh and wipe wipe wipe between flashes
i wipe before and after the flash
even flash twice just to make sure
***Dont mind the sig pic... im running this rom at the moment and its working flawlessly

Well. Today I installed again. This time it works fine. Everything went normal. Only one unusual thing is my cappy feels slow. asphalt 6 freezing sometimes. is there any way speed up my ICS?

Use Glitch v14, the included has some slight lag and glitch fixed it up. You can also LiveOC which allows for overclocking of the CPU and GPU.

Has anyone found the solution for the gray\blue signal switching? So far as I can tell it is caused by the wifi; whenever I go from mobile network to wifi data, the signal bars go gray. The only work-around has been to switch airplane mode on and off. Would switching to the newly released glitch kernel do the trick?
EDIT: I have found out the Google services problem (gray vs. blue signal) is only happening when I join a network which requires a redirect authentication OR if the power saver is enabled.

Just got this phone and flashed it with - AOKP Build23 by vibranturk ROM
I have been reading for awhile now before I received the phone. Thanks vibranturk for all the development here! Excellent roms!
1) When I start the camera app from app on homescreen and from unlock - the phone goes into a black screen
The camera app worked fine again after a reset (just turning off and back on) but after awhile it does the same thing - black screen.
During the black screen, I can press the home button to return back to homescreen
** Resetted again, and all seems well at the moment and still fine after 1 hour!
2) I am not sure if this is the rom or just my screen. Did not notice it at first when i flashed the rom. Turning on the screen to unlock the phone, ie when the light starts, i get this bright green full screen flash for like a second. It does not happen everytime and no pattern of when it happens either.
Anyone else having these problems?
Can someone please update the 'AOKP thread in Captivate Android Development' with my issues, just trying to help with the development.
For the signal blue/grey thing, Seems like it goes blue for me when i have data signal coming in, either wifi or data enabled - lights up both wifi signal (only if wifi is on) and signal bars blue.
I have power saver is enabled as well.

My only issues so far are: vibrate + sound doesn't work, touch screen is over sensitive on certain games, and sometimes using Swype in messaging doesn't input if app was already in foreground when replying.(can be fixed by minimizing and reopening the app) otherwise it's works great. fast/smooth and great battery life.

I have a 32GB TP that has been doing fine (save for some battery issues) up until recently.
Now, at random, it flashes a full screen of blue lines. This lasts for about 1 - 2 seconds. Anything running appears to freeze while it happens, and if audio is playing, the TP will just BOOOOOOOOP while the blue lines appear.
Some times it will go an hour. Other times it does it every 20 seconds or so. Even just scrolling through the apps list. Does it both while plugged in and not.
I was running CM9 and thought that maybe it was a corrupt ROM or something. So, I did a full wipe (system, caches, etc) and installed CM10.x/4.2.2. Still doing it.
Anybody have ANY idea what might be causing this? Im guessing its a hardware issue now. Ive seen similar issue mentioned but never with any resolution.
Except for this issue and the occasional not wanting to turn on, the TP has been great. So...Im hoping its something fixable.
I'm not OC'd. Running pjsports CM build with non-system apps restored with TBU. Nothing funky (performance enhancing, monitoring, tweaking, av apps) installed.

I got this whenever I tried to change to a rom that was not supported with the current partition layout or needing an SE version or a data/media on a non data/media version....
I held home and power at same time till it re-booted and went into CWM recovery and re-flashed the original rom. (I bet you could use your NANDroid as well)

Thanks, but as I said, this was originally happening with the lastest stable build of CM9 (Sept '12?) - which was fine for about a year. So, since I had to reinstall to try and eliminate the issue, I went with the latest build 4.2.2 ROM that DIDNT require the new partition layout.
