Hidden apps? - Motorola Droid 3

In Titanium Backup I see "Terminal Emulator" and "Sound Recorder" apps. But I don't see them in the launcher. What does it mean? Can these apps be started somehow?

Those are system processes that run in the background. They cannot be opened

App to hide apps in the app tray?

Anyone know of an app to hide the apps in the app tray?
I know advanced launcher does this however i would like to stick with the standard one.
I hate making the shortcut on the desktop and then it is still listed in the tray. Also there might be an app or two that I don't want my wife to see if she is looking at my phone
The only other way that I am aware of is to use the PACKAGE MANAGER to disable the app. There is a TERMINAL COMMAND that can be used for this; "pm".
The syntax is "pm disable packagename"
i.e. "pm disable com.crazydev.pictureappidontwantmywifetosee"
To reverse it, use "pm enable packagename"
You may need to kill the launcher after these to actually make them appear or disappear.
Note: When the app has been disabled, there is NO WAY TO RUN IT.
Also note: This may not be a good approach for hiding SYSTEM apps that still need to run.
grab a theme that includes the advanced launcher. you can hide anything you want in the tray.

Don't know how to hide it in the app tray but if you use app manager or backup for root user, do a back up of your apps. Then uninstall when you are going to be around wifey then reinstall when she isn't around. Also you will need a file manager to explore files on your sd. Good luck. Just don't forget to uninstall.

[Q]how to exclude processes from the android system to kill

I noticed that my whatsapp gets killed automatically... I don't have a task killer
I go offline once the com.whatsapp is killed which I don't want
I want a way I can exclude it from the system task killer so that I stay online ol the time
Guide me
Go to cyanogenmod settings, performance, enable " lock messaging app in memory" and see of that does the trick.
I will try. But that's for the system messaging app I thought

(28/9/13) List of bloatwares that safe to be frozen by Titanium Backup

Hello fellas.
This is a guide to safely freeze(hide) bloatware apps that consume your RAM. New method: since I froze too many useless apps, now i upload my defrosted(unfrozen) apps because it has fewer in number compared to my frozen app.
Why you should doing this? To hide(not uninstall) bloatware apps that consume your battery. With freezing apps, you will get longer battery life and more available RAM amounts. :victory:
Soon I will post my battery usage after freezing bloatwares
What do you need:
1. Rooted Device. Rooting process: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2405933
2. Titanium Backup (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup)
Titanium Backup Pro key only (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupPro)
3. Brain [/SIZE]
Optional:
To save more battery, you can underclock your CPU frequency to 1.3ghz.
How to:
1. Open your Titanium Backup Pro
2. Click "Backup/Restore"
3. Click "Click to edit filters"
4. Filter by type, choose "System". Filter by temperature, choose "All"
5. Open my screenshot, they are DEFROSTED apps in my device, DO NOT FREEZE them. Freeze any app that are not there in my list.
5. Tap to an app, click "Freeze!" button[/SIZE/
Known Bugs:
1. Clear Phase is missing from Sound Enchantments (Walkman) and cannot be ticked in Settings>Sound
(FIXED) Do not Freeze "Audio Service". Thanks @rtwo
2. After changing language on Settings, Settings process will Force Closed, but it's okay since you still able to change the language.
3. NFC based file transfer is not working.
NOTES:
1. For using Email, unfreeze "Email" and "Exchange Services"
2. For Google PlayStore, unfreeze "Google Play Store, Google Play Services, and Google Service Framework" to get Playstore working.
3. For Google Now, unfreeze "Google Search".
3. For Maps , unfreeze "Maps" and "Google Play Service"
4. For using MHL in order to connect your phone to a TV, unfreeze "MHL" and TV Launcher".
5. For Screen Mirroring, unfreeze "MirrorLink Service", "MirrorLink settings", "MirrorLink System", and "Wfd Service".
6. For Credential Storage, unfreeze "Certificate Installer"
6. You can freeze "USB Connectivity" since it has no connection with transferring data to your SDcard from PC
6. DO NOT freeze "CredentialManagerService" or you will LOSE Bravia Engine 2 function when viewing photos and videos in Album/Movies
Feel free to ask or adding something, i'll update this post regularly

Greenify, App Manager Disable, Titanium Backup Freeze

Hi All,
Being on Note 4 and Note Edge had made me forgot things I can do being rooted. To my understanding, the default application manager can disable apps, and titanium backup can go beyond that list from the default application manager. I have also got Greenify. Would anyone care to share what they have disabled/froze in TB and also what they have added on the Greenify list? Thanks in advance!
I basically greenify everything except apps that I want running in the background (desired notifications, watch apps etc). If something doesn't work right, just ungreenify it. The more the better I always say.
I don't have a list for freezing apps, but right off the bat you want to freeze sdm.apk so you don't get updates. I freeze knox and ITIgnite as well. Then of course i remove any games/verizon/Amazon/google play software i dont want.

Uninstall bloatware without root

Hi to all,
I 'accidently' found a little trick, how to really(!) uninstall the Gameloft-Bloatware and apps like Facebook, Twitter, WPS Office etc. if you don't want them on your phone.
I'm using the Smart Launcher (Pro), which can hide apps in the drawer. When I long press on one of the above mentioned apps, a menu pops up where I can press "Uninstall".
If I do so, I get a message saying that I cant' uninstall this app, but I can hide it - so I did.
Then I opened all hidden apps (SL menu, the 3 dots in the top) - and from here I can long press the app again, press "Uninstall" again, and now I'm able to really uninstall everything.
Well, it seems like I can't uninstall real system apps like Huawei Care, but all the additional apps are gone now
Good luck and best regards

You do not need any tricks to uninstall these apps. These are not system apps and you can uninstall them like any other ordinary apps, e.g. from stock launcher by just long pressing the apps and moving them to recycle bin or from the settings if you select app management and then uninstall. Try removing Google bloatware like Google music, I bet you cannot without root.
