I need the original QuickOffice.apk found in /System/Apps from the XT862.
If you have it, please upload it for me. Greatly appreciate it.
Straight from my 3 day old D3, on the verizon network (dont think that would make a difference).

Well...for the last month or so I have been modifying things and trying to figure out how to port MyFaves App to another build besides the T-Mobile 1.5 Cupcake CRB43 and the JFv1.5 CRB43-US. Just tonight I tried to email myself the myfaves odex file info. I went into the myfaves app and info through root explorer on my G1. I then copied all the text in the odex file and tried to email it to myself.Everytime I pasted the text and tried to send it my Gmail App would freeze up. Anyways...My attempt at this is to email myself the files and try to compress them into a .zip file with everything and see if it will work to be ported to other builds. Right now I am at a stand still and at a dead end but I am still trying.I know a lot of people here think it is impossible but me being in the Army, I think anything is possible,it just takes time and effort. If you want to help me out or give any info let me in on it. I appreciate all help and any positive suggestions. I have come a LONG way with this in the last month. I've come a long way from(dare I say) being a noob. I am now trying to develop things and get into this a little more.Once again...any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Do you have adb set up? You can pull the .odex file and the .apk file using that.

Hmmm....interesting,I haven't tried that yet but I am going to set up ADB on my laptop as soon as I get home from work.I totally forgot about that. Thanks for your help,if you would liek to come in to this with me and help out or anything let me know. I am patiently working on this and hope to have this accomplished in the next few weeks. If I could get MyFaves ported to a Hero build...WOW,lot's of people may use it more often.I know it takes up a lot of space but I like using MyFaves just as a quick reference for my fave 5. Anyways...thanks again man!
SUCCESS! SUCCESS! SUCCESS!
I finally have ported the MyFaves App and the MyFaves.odex to a hero build. If you would like to check it out go to Dream/Android Development. You have to flash the ROM but it has the MyFaves App! Check it out guys!
I'm on what seems to be a never ending quest to get 1% battery steps on my Moto Droid 1.
I've been going through a lot of steps and tried a lot of changes to achieve this, however none of them have worked. I think I know why, but I'm not sure. I need the following file to test my theory.
"/sys/class/power_supply/battery/charge_counter" from the Moto Milestone
If anyone could post with a .zip containing this or a link to where I can download this would be awesome.
After I get the file and test it, I'll post with all of the theories I've tried and the outcome of the testing.
If anyone is curious, I'm running CyanogenMod 7.1.0 RC1

I can only visit the "/sys/class/power_supply/battery", but the explorer said it is not a file?
Thats really odd, I've got no problems going through the folders down to where capacity is. Charge_counter should be in the same folder (/sys/class/power_supply/battery/).
What file explorer are you using? ES File Explorer seems to do the job quite nicely for me. It even has a something in settings that will allow you to make /system files writable
So upon removing some of the bloat on my Droid 3, I broke mms and contacts. I successfully installed AOSP 2.3.5 mms so I thought I'd try to install stock contacts. I ended up backing up BlurPhone and BlurContacts and then deleting them and replacing them with the AOSP .apks... Now I have no data, and I can't restore the backups I made. I even pulled BlurPhone and BlurContacts from the Droid 3 system dump and pushed them to /system/app to no avail. Any ideas how to unbork my phone? Thanks.

Factory Reset perhaps? Honestly, I'm a bit confused why you would do that to your device when we don't even have an SBF to restore to. Do you want an expensive new paper weight?
I had a temporary lapse of intelligence. I'm at work right now but I will attempt to push all system files back to the phone and do a restore. If that doesn't work, I've heard of people successfully flashing an Atrix SBF so I'll try that next. IF neither of those work, I'll beg Verizon to exchange it or I make an insurance claim, lol.
Yep I did the same thing. This could help, its a backup of the entire /system/app folder

I can't figure out what I'm supposed to push back there to get functionality back. I know you have to repair perms after pushing.

I believe what you may have heard about was people flashing the Atrix preinstall partition in an effort to find a root exploit (which ultimately turned out to be a dead end). This is entirely different from flashing an Atrix SBF. If you attempt to do this, you're almost certain to brick your phone.

That is what i meant, the root.img. Sleepy, sorry.
Still no headway with this thing... might be stopping by Verizon tomorrow.
First off, did you push the odex files for those 2 apks as well? I don't know the significance of them, but if they were in the system dump, it's probably a good idea to put them in the /system/app directory.
Second, did you fix the permissions and owner of the files you pushed?

Yes and yes.
...Huh. Well, I'm not entirely sure what to do then (I've never dealt with the dialer). My best advice would be to play dumb when you go exchange it.
Sorry!
For me I think I'm going to just leave it like it is until the first custom ROM appears.
There are some bloatware that is ok to remove. I removed most of the ones that you can just re-download from the Market like: NFLMobile, ZumoCast, GuidedTours, Slackerradio, Citrix, BlockBuster, and MyVerizon. I did not touch a lot of the main VZW apps that they put on out of fear of some other part of android being tied to them. But random apps like the BlockBuster and SlackerRadio are fine to remove.
Why not just install a 3rd party dialer such as GoDialer or something until we get an sbf?

You might check to see if they were disabled with package manager. Enter pm list packages -d from the command line.

I've tried to replace the BlurCamera.apk with the one from the Atrix thread, and have also tried to replace the keyboard functionality by replacing the LatinIME.apk file, as posted keyboard replacement from RAZR thread, and neither of these have been working.
I have tried all sorts of ways of getting the files onto the phone, such as, downloaded the files through the XDA app, using ADB and copy to a holding area, and using USB mode. The files transfer sucessfully. When I move the files to the /system/app folder, I then set the proper permissions ( 644 ) and also set the owner to 0 and group to 0 (root/root). Supposedly after a reboot of the device the new APKs should be loaded, but I'm not seeing them loaded.
Is there global some setting I am overlooking? Maybe something to do with signing? Please help, thanks! Currently I have "unknown sources" turned on under application settings, and have "Usb debugging" turned on as well.
Thanks in advance!
atrix camera is working, see the thread, I posted working combo of .apk + .odex there.
As to other files, it AFAIK depends...if these files are from deodexed ROMs, then it probably will not work...also, it seems XT860 really is different from Verizon model, so plenty of things is not working...
Thanks dvet. I tried the pair that you posted and it still hasn't worked, so that's why I tried opening a new post, I think I'm doing something wrong and I want to know what it is.
my head cannot take it... why is it so? What are other camera related files? Name them and I will post it...
HOW can we ask to have XT860 specific forum here? ...it has been asked so many times and nothing happenned so forth...

because properly labelled topics are good enough for the same phone, different model number.
Once we have an sbf and ROMs our own subforum might make more sense to the admins. Jm2c

hopefully soon enough the little differences will be figured out, when we can get on the same firmware.
Could someone be so kind to share there system.bin from ATT Q 30 E, it would save me from flashing every partition and be highly appreciated

I'd suggest you might want to explain how someone could do that, as they may not know.
Their phone doesn't have to be rooted, can be complete stock. They'd have to get a 'root file explorer' on play store (I prefer Solid Explorer), and then enable it to 'see' root files.
then they'd have to copy the system.bin file to their sd card (it's a very big file, think about 4 gig). Then use something like google drive to share it.
someone 'might' be able to help if they know what to do.
