After rooting my device, doing a titanium backup, and removing some of the bloatware, Verizon apps ect... I did a factory reset, and after i went through the gmail account process, I was brought to the Setup Accounts page, I went through the steps of setting up my accounts, and then clicked done. Then I get a force close saying it didn't work, and it needs to restart. Then I'm brought back to the Setup Accounts page, and the process continues. Please help! my phone is unusable like this!
you need to factory reset again (sbf your phone)..

How do I wipe data on android recovery mode? Please help
This is a easy fix
First get someone to send a text message to your phone
tap their number on the right side of the text, it will take you into dialer, Tap the microphone at the bottom right corner in dialer select goto then settings, then applications then debugging and enable it... then go and get this file AccountAndSyncSettings.apk then go to adb and push that file using this command....
adb push AccountAndSyncSettings.apk /system/app | chmod 0644 /system/app/AccountAndSyncSettings.apk
That should fix your problem... OR use Pete's Moto Tools to restore everything...
The fix.

Thanks you got me on the right track. I got it working with these methods. I couldn't text so I had to find another work around. Google "Issues with droid 3 after rooting and doing system restore". It is located on droidforums.net. I can't post outside links so you can see the fix on that thread.
Np I help where I can!

I've got launcher pro installed and all I did was select a setting under preferences from the home screen in the Launcherpro settings to restore back to its defaults. As soon as I did it asked me to restart. I selected to restart later and then it just started giving me this error:
The application Launcher Pro (process.android.process.acore) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Dumpstate_app_201007291243_android_process_acore. Log has been saved. Use *900# to copy out log.
This error keeps coming one after the next. I can't do anything on my phone.
I searched everywhere online and the solution is "HARD RESET YOUR PHONE".
I called ATT cust support and they DON"T KNOW how to do it w/out going through the UI.
Everywhere online says hold the down button and power on while holding down. I tried that and it does NOTHING.
Somebody please help?
I don't understand why I can't even get to the factory reset menu at least?
I get all my notifications and everything. I can access anything that pops into my notification tray. It get's interuppted by the launcherpro error message but I can kind of plow through it but I can get to the messages application if there's a message in my notification tray or an email. Can I somehow get to the reset menu from that tray?
I can't access any settings normally because settings run off the home screen and my home screen is unavailable due to the launcher pro widget. I just got this phone...this SUCKS.
I can also access the phone through mass storage. I new to droid so I can't brainstorm any ideas.
Try this.
1. remove your battery wait a few seconds and replace it
2. hold down the up and down volume buttons and the power button until the att screen loads on the screen
3. make sure that reboot system now is highlighted (use the power buttons to move) and press the power button
That should reboot your system. If that doesn't work try repeating step 3 but select delete all user data instead.
If launcherpro is crashing, why not go to appbrain on a computer and give the command uninstall it there. In between the crashes, I am sure the phone will get the command and do the deed. Once done, reboot the phone and either TouchWiz should launch, or the screen that tellls you to select default launcher will come up, and allow you to select TouchWiz. Worth a shot I think.
So hold down and up simultaneously? along with the power button?
Do I hold these down until the reboot menu appears? or do I have to hold all three until a specific point during the phone boot then let go?
I've never heard of appbrain but I will check it out and try it if the reset doesn't work still. Thank You!
I tried holding up and down and power and it sent me to the menu Thank You!
the options are
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cach data
is this the stock menu? I was wondering if reinstall packages would correct the issue without erasing my data?

I guess it wouldn't hurt anything to try. I would still try reboot system now first. If that doesn't work you may want to look into the appbrain solution posted above.

I think you may also need to add fast web installer to the toolchain. Get that on the phone first somehow if you need to (ADB install?).

Have you tried the reboot system choice yet? That will not delete any of your data, but it may restart Launcher Pro so that it actually works.
Yes it didn't work. I tried to reinstall all packages but it's looking for some type of ".zip" file at the root directory.
I think it's because I rooted it to sideload, and so this is not the stock reboot menu.
I'm going to have to research to find out what I need to do from here. I'm a brand noob but I think I'm on the right path.

No, that is the correct reboot menu. The reinstall packages searches for update.zip in the root of the sd card, that is how you rooted the device. At this point I would suggest trying the Appbrain method and seeing if you can get that to work. I have never used it so I won't be much help there. If you can't figure that out deleting user data should fix your phone, but you will lose your data.
When you do get everything working I suggest you download rom manager from the market and making a backup of your ROM once you get everything working properly. That will enable you to use the reinstall packages choice to basically go back to a previous working version of your ROM.
Maybe adb (in Android SDK) can be used to remove Launcher Pro?
adb uninstall com.fede.launcher
The only problem is, I think USB debugging mode must be on for this to work...

If it's just pictures you are trying get, then go into mass storage mode, that you indicated you can do. Then take whatever you need off the phone and copy it to your computer. After that put the update.zip file found here onto the root of the internal sdcard. Disconnect the phone and reboot into recovery and apply the update.zip by reinstall packages. Once you get back up, do a factory reset and you will be back to a stock phone with root enabled. Either this, or get your pictures off the phone and then reflash with Odin3 One Click Downloader.
This is what happened. I guess pics/videos are saved to the SD card by default. I found them all there.
So I installed the update.zip file on my device.
I reinstalled packages. Everything went back to normal. A lot of my data was saved too!
I went to the market to download the Rom Manager and had issues. No matter how many apps I tried to download from the Market it stalled at "Starting Download". The ones I paid for said "installed" still.
I did a factory reset through the GUI. It worked. I can download now.
I entered the market with my known google username/password. I tried to reinstall ALL my paid apps. They no longer are marked "installed" but appear as if I did not pay.
Now I'm STUCK on how to get my paid apps back! Namely Rom manager PREMIUM for starters. There's no code or serial to enter. Is there a way to get this back w/out paying for it again?

It appears that you are following the steps. Is it possible you forgot your gmail sign in information and created a new account. A second factory reset may be needed.
This is the same thing that happened to me. Hard reset fixed it.

I'm all set, I used the WRONG account.
For future reference, you could have just removed launcherpro from adb.
I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet 7'' and I installed Application Protection. Well I forgot the password and now I can't access any of the settings or most of the apps. I really don't want to hard reset it because I have alot of stuff that I will loose that is not on the sd card. I have used adb before on my droid x but unfortunately usb debugging is not enabled on my tab to access it. I can't enable it in the os. The only unrestricted access I have to my knowledge is the recovery console, which allows me to factory reset(last resort) or update.zip. I have been playing with an update.zip creator script and was wondering is there a way to enable usb debugging with an update.zip or more likely remove the application protection app with an update.zip.
Is it possible to delete this app with an update.zip. I believe this app is stored in data/app/com.ruimaninfo.approtect-1.apk
I would appreciate any help...

Can I create an update.zip to remove an app on my phone?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Can you uninstall the app or do you not have access to the Market?
if you are rooted , just go through data and then find your app name , or just search by root explorer with your app name and then after root explorer find it delete it
or if you have the androidSDK and you are not rooted just download the software called QtADB_0.8.0_windows_with_libs
and then use it to brows your files at least to take them all out
Unfortunately I have basically no access on my tab because I lost the password to Application Protection and it has everything restricted. I also don't have root access or I would be able to remove the app very easily. I also can't use adb unless I can figure away to enable usb debugging, but can't access the settings due to Application Protection app. I know exactly where the app is stored on the phone but can't get into the directory because I don't have root access.
The only thing that I can use to my knowledge is update.zip in recovery and again I don't have root so I just have the basic recovery menu. I tried making an update.zip to install an app but couldn't get it to work.
What I really want is to make an update.zip to delete data/app/com.ruimaninfo.approtect-1.apk
It's definately a challenge and I will keep working on a way to remove it.
I did find that I have ANDFTP with unrestricted access that does allow me to delete any files in the system but again doesn't show anything under data/app folder because I don't have root access. Maybe the data for the app is stored elsewhere?
Power and volume up key takes you to recovery. Then you can do a factory reset, which wipes all installed apps and user data.
Thanks, but I know how to do a factory reset. I am trying to fix this without loosing everything.

Woww...you guys blown my mind away. Nice, keep up the discussion and I would like to know more from those genius people here
why you don't ask the dev of the app ? sure he got (secret password)
or just download the software i mentioned above and you'll solve it in seconds
here is what i found
Keep your private app/data in secure before allow other people use your phone
Application Protection help to protect applications and data in case other people or child get your phone to:
* install some app or malware you don't want to
* see your private info you don't want to share
* change setting of your phone by accident
(Note: lock behavior can be changed in setting to save effort to unlock)
* send email to configured email box after input wrong code 10 times
(IMPORTANT: Default setting is to send email to [email protected] in case of user lost the code. Strongly recommend user to set your email box in setting)
read it , its in the app info
Tried that too but unfortunately didn't set a email either and developer isn't returning any of my emails either.
Update.zip has gotta be my only chance without reseting my phone.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
So, did it work? Because I have a similar problem: I'm locket out of a Lifetab from a friend of my brother. The only difference is, I know the password, but the Android keyboard kept force closing, so I disabled it. Then without thinking I rebooted.
Is there a way to enable that app again trough adb, or did you succeed in making an update.zip that resets the password?
Please help. I have a few questions.
I have recently installed Titanium Backup on my Captivate and i accidentally converted the system messaging app (SMS/MMS) to a user app. It was not backed up. It no longer appears as an app in titanium backup. Can not find it anywhere. The messaging icon has disappeared from my home screen. I opened my contacts and selected a person to send a text and hit "send message" button and got an error message saying " the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. I had to force close. I then performed a Factory Data Reset in hopes that my phone would return to the "out of the box" state. No luck.
My phone is rooted of course. Froyo 2.2
Through some investigating i learned that my phone can be booted into recovery mode, which i did. No luck. No update.zip file exist. What do i do? Thanks in advance for your help.
If i unroot the device and then do a data factory reset will that work?
If you have a 2.2 rom in your computer you can look for the .apk and just run it from the phone.
Get a file explorer that has root access (root explorer for example) You will have to mount system r/w which if you're using root explorer is a button on the top right.
navigate to /data/app and see if mms.apk is there. If so long press it select move, navigate to /system/app and paste it in then reboot.

How can I pull the Rom in the development section? As I have deleted many system files, I think I am in a much bigger trouble than yours.

if you can't get the individual files, maybe reflashing that rom will fix your problems
This happened to me, and some other folks. Look for a thread asking about how to view/run settings.
Anyway, some fixes mentioned were to turn off notifications for Gmail - hard to do if you can't get to settings, though.
What worked for me was to try and side-load an application - copy an APK file to the 'downloads' folder on your KFHD via a connected computer using the windows file explorer, or ADB - and then install the APK. In my case by clicking on it using a file manager. The KFHD told me that I would have to enable foreign application installs to finish the install of the side-loaded APK, and took me to that portion of settings that dealt with that. In that section was the 'Reset to Factory Defaults' button.
I pressed the reset button, and got everything back. Earlier applications (google play store) that I hadn't un-installed in an attempt to fix the problem were still there. Super User was intact. I downloaded & installed everything again, and all is working as it should be.
Until Amazon comes clean with this walking ad-server, details on how to modify it without introducing issues are going to be sketchy . It's just our lot in life, if you'll pardon. I appreciate having super user access, and all the Google apps I love to use, but what's really required is the ability to modify the boot loader. Until that's available, it's going to be try until it fails, and then scramble to recover.
Nice HW, but limited by Amazon's vision of the customers.

It works!!!! all the missing parts have come back. the Go launcher EX has saved in Cloud.
solution
download an app called my android, open the app go to my apps and find the settings app then go to device and then go to factory reset. its the only way I found to access settings when drop down didn't work. after resetting to factory my buttons all came back after doing the tooltip for startup
What worked for me on my AF tablet was to uninstall all 4 Google APK files, then uninstall the Launcher Hijack. The tablet swipe down and home button both came back for me. I then re-installed the Google APKs, but didn't re-install Launcher Hijack. Tablet works fine, functions are normal, just have to put up with seeing the default Amazon screen first before tapping the Nova Launcher icon to get to my custom screen, a minor inconvenience, and I didn't have to do a factory reset.

I think you have 2 options:
1. Reset KFHD to factory defaults.
2. Try to replace that file that you edited with original one. (I don't have the tablet with me now, i can send you this file in 4-5 hours as i get home).
Hi Melodycd
I think I have deleted a lot of system files, that's why I couldn't even open the Games tab, Shops tab and other Amazon customized apps. I have tried to install GO Launcher EX and failed to show in the screen( install in the system/app). , the reset options is not available as I couldn't swipe the top and access to the device section. there just nothing happen when I swipe the top screen. For the second option. My kindle fire has rooted, but if I want to transfer files to the tablet, it required the permission and also I have to switch it to USB mode, As I said I was not able to swipe the top screen. I am now entering into a endless loop.

I think you still can use ADB to push files to your KFHD! If we make root manually for example and push super user via command on PC, you can do it with oher files also. Did you try this method?
Also you may Install ES File Explorer and download system apps via LAN or Cloud drive from you computer. There are many options in ES File explorer.
And what did make you to delete system apps??

1.I have tried, but it just remind me that I don't have the permission. ( I have rooted and gave RExplorer the permission).
2. I am currently live in Sydney. So videos has been restricted by law. That's why I deleted the amazon customized apps. For the system apps, I was not able to sign in my google account. Searched online and the resolution was to delete the file under data/data/com.android.providers.settings. I did delete it and after restarted my kindle fire, the problem began...
i think you still can push needed aps via ADB. if Root explorer doesn't work, how did you delete files from system folder??
you probably need to remount /system as rw in adb and then chmod the files to give them the right permissions.
this is why i renamed the files i messed with instead of deleting them. much easier to change the name back if there are problems
