Hey guys. I was thinking of Rooting/Flashing my Incredible S, but have a couple of questions first?
1. If I Root/Flash, can I go straight back to stock firmware without any Goldcard or anything?
2. What's the best Sense 3.0 Rom with good battery life?
Thanks guys
First: there is always a chance that something goes wrong. But as you read in different posts, that's rarely the case.
And second: there is no "best" Rom. Take a look at some Roms and decide for yourself. I would recommend Revolution HD But only because I haven't tried anything else yet. I assume that other ROM can be better or worse.

revolution hd isn't sense 3.0 like he asked though (although I definitely agree it is the best rom on here)

Hi.
Thanks for the reply, but I wasn't asking if anything went wrong, I was just asking if I'd be able to flash an RUU Over a custom ROM, or how I could go back to stock firmware from a custom ROM
Also, is this guide the one for windows that I could use to Root/Flash? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1137008
It is possible and easy to use sense 3.0 with revolution. Anyway, I don't know any reason why it wouldn't be possible to flash back to a stock Rom.
BTW: the link you posted is the same guide that worked for me.

Brilliant
One more thing, has anyone got the link to this Revolution Sense 3.0 ROM? Can't find it in the Android Development section.

only the lockscreen and weather, though you are still on sense2.1....
Hmm, what's the battery life like on Revolution?
I'm looking for Sense 3.0 and hopefully Improved or pretty much the same battery life I have on stock
(I'd prefer an actual Sense 3.0 ROM to get the Homescreen Transitions)

battery life is great....
it is the best rom on here imo.
like I said though it is sense2.1 (though I think sense 2.1 is better. smoother and less of a resource hog )
if it is imperative you have sense3, try virtuous unity
The battery life is at least the same. The developer says its better but I don't think so. Since you are going to root it anyway you can make use of some more tutorials on how to improve your battery. You will find them in the forum.

hey all. i noticed that ehabfg has posted 5 or 6 roms in the dev section so far (thanks ehabfg for your hard work). don't really feel like trying all of them...can you recommend the best of the bunch based on your experience? battery life is the main concern for me, but also looking for a rom with minimum amount of bugs. thanks in advance.
ps i don't have a preference in relation to sense 3.0 or 3.5
Sense .3.0 pyramid 3.2
I think he has reposted the link
Check ehabs posts for the link
Tried nearly every sense rom but keep coming back to this one .. amazing bug free and fast

What happened to Rock Steady CM7 with Sense? The thread is closed and the download links don't work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003069
Is there any way to get CM7 for the Hero with Sense?
If not, there is Gingerbread with Sense. I found Sensible Gingerbread on the Wiki.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059481
When I flashed the ROM earlier it would not work, but I'll try again later.
Check out the Hero Development forum. There's a gingerbread ROM with sense 3.5 called Zero Hero. I don't even like sense on our Heros and i think its pretty sweet.

If the browser doesn't work download Opera or Dolphin. Will work just fine. We optimized that rom to run pretty damn good in these old heros. Just don't fill up the home screens and tons of apps or it will bog down.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try Dolphin since I've used it before and it was okay. I don't know why, but I prefer the original Browser.
EDIT: Oh and btw, WiFi was not working for me on Zero Hero Sense. Is there a way to fix that?
hey just an fyi we dont talk about rocksteady around here the guy who made the ports was bannanas to say the least matt knows what im talking about lol.
Oh ok sorry.
The Sensible Gingerbread says to flash FR-recovery. What is that? I currently have ROM Manager and the Clockwork Recovery. Whenever I try to flash Sensible Gingerbread with that, it reboots into recovery every time I try to reboot it.
firates is just a tool that partitions your sd card for better memory management theres a thread in development on how to set it up.

Is there something different that I need to do for Sensible Gingerbread than I do for most roms?
The original thread says
How to install(might be a waste of time)
wipe ALL, flash FR-recovery, wipe ALL, reboot recovery, flash ROM, reboot. It is also recommended that you have an s-off bootloader, since FR is a recovery modification. It installed fine for the testers, so YMMV. But be warned, bricks are your fault, not someone elses Also, the CPU frequencies are now 245xxx (needs to be fixed, keep reading) - 729xxx (careful, some phones can only handle 691xxx). You need an overclock method (setCPU, overclock widget) to change the frequencies to 264xxx - 691xxx.

So do you guys think the tweaks app would be compatible with the stock rooted ROM? Sadly enough I'm kind of much preferring it over any of the ROMs out there. Just missing the functionality aspects of tweaks.

I think there is a rom called Illuminati that is stock with some fixes and tweaks. Not sure if it has the equivalent of LeeDroid tweaks or not, but it might be what you want. It's pretty much the only rom I haven't tried, as I can't find a download for it anywhere. It's not on XDA, but some other forum, that may involve signing up to even see it. I was too lazy to bother as I am perfectly happy with Holics 1.2.

Yes there is a ROM called WCX ILLUMINATI. The mod version does have similar tweaks. Google wcx illuminati and join the forum to get it. You will need to make 11 posts to download any ROMs.

They are all solid, it depends on what features, themes, etc you are looking for.
Rooted within 3 hours. Started on a different Rom but switched to vipers and never looked back. Incredibly close to stock with just some basic visual upgrades and a lot under the hood

I enjoy d3rpONE. Its a sense based rom with good a good looking theme, full functionality and lots of under the hood tweaks and fixes.
D3rped out Beastmode! HTC ONE!
d3rpROM, ViperROM, and TrickDroid are the best ones out there atm. I am currently running TrickDroid because it has tons of mods selectable in AROMA, it is quite nice. (you can find it in the international forum, it will give you the option to flash the Sprint version from the .zip)
Im running Viper's... Super Nice!

what about cm10.1

I don't know why that dude took 3 hours to root his mine took a total of 5 minutes and then another 5 to install Viper ROM and haven't had an issue.

Have you tried RENOVATE? Using RENOVATE ROM, Wolfpack Kernel and OJM MODs.....ultimate device. Viper ROM is very nice....but Quadrants and Antutu scores suffer greatly. Renovate also includes PureXAUDIO , battery optimization, and it flys. It's mostly stock unless you choose their theme
I think he meant he rooted in 3 hours and not it took all of 3 hours.
It took me about 2 hours to root. It would have been faster but I used the HTC One (M7) All-In-One Toolkit V1.2, and while it got me started, it didn't work as advertised, left off steps, and then just stopped working. I had to do most of the work manually myself, but I did it.
theres an easy video to follow on youtube if you search "htc one root" look for the one posted by qbking77. it doesnt use the all in one toolkit so if something goes wrong its easier to figure out what you did wrong...
Hello,
I'm new here and I'm looking for a good stable rom for my daily use (fully functional) and most importantly stable , I'm actually tired of how my phone performs on the stock rom, I would like to have fast and smooth performance. Is there anything possible? Help and suggesstions will be highly appreciated.
I'm using the Rogers HTC Raider 4G.
Regards.
No one?
I think the best way to do it is to try each one for a couple of days, while making notes about their pros & cons. One person could tell you that one rom is the best, while another could tell you a different rom is the best. It's all up to you.

This is a developers forum, there are a lot of roms here for one device, I'm not a developer, I'm just an individual looking for one or two. All I'm saying is that, a developer has knowledge and experience, if a developer would care to suggest one or two, I would be out of the scenario of trying each one, because for a daily user like me, it would be a pain. You know what I'm saying, right?

Hence the 'try them all and figure it out for yourself'

OK...
I hate to do this...
But
CM 11 is nice and stable... But old...
PAC 4.4.4 is stable-ish... Has some bugs... But its in nightlies... So bugs come and go...
Ressurection Remix is really nice and stable... But very old... So you'll have some compatibility issues with things...
Any of the CM 10.2 ROMs are bad battery drainers due to old kernel issues...
Ditto for the CM 10 ROMs...
I hate sense... But any of the sense based ROMs are really stable... If you go with those... Kozmik's kernel is very nice... The senseless sense ROMs are a little messy... But very usable...

One more thing, the CM 11 is the 4.2.2 Rom isn't it? I've seen it on some Raiders these days, is it good for daily use?
Thankyou again.

I'm restricted to post in the other thread, is Kozmik's kernel compatible with the stock ICS sense 3.6 rom?
And if so, is it possible to flash it via fastboot through pc? Because I'm currently S-on and don't plan to go S-off.
Mentioning again that I have a Roger's HTC Raider.
