overcome is made from stock hc 3.2.
cm9 and Galaxian-Soup are ics roms.
the best roms for me are cm9 and Galaxian-Soup.
and that is because ics rock.
the only difference between ics and hc for now is the camera.
and all the roms have the possibility to get back on the stock if desired.
Hi,
Thanks a lot sorrowrain for your quick reply.
So i will check now which is the best (CM9 or Galaxian-Soup).
Both are without camera works.
The fonctionnality are the same between CM9 and Galaxian-Soup ?
Thanks.

atm both are nearly the same.
soup is aiming for stability, cm9 is incorporating all the latest cyanogen hacks. so cm9 has a few extra launcher functionalitys but nothing really big. so far i would say both are great to use and you wont notice much difference.
Keep in mind that these are still in beta. I have used overcome quite a lot and never had a lockup or reboot. Been using the soup for two weeks now and so far it has rebooted once because the web browser crashed. Also, some apps don't play nice with ICS yet (tapatalk so far for me), so if you experience some hickups you have been warned.

Hello
I am relatively new to this forum but I have a question anyway. Which is better CyanogenMod 7 or the stock Android 2.1-Update1 on the X8 (E15i)?
Also what are the main differences between CM7 and stock Android 2.1 (e.g. is CM7 faster...)?
And finally can someone provide a link to the best CyanogenMod 7, by best I mean most stable and good features.
Thanks in advance.

Stock Android 2.1 is Eclair.
CM7 or Cyanogen 7 is Gingerbread i.e 2.3
The difference between Eclair and Gingerbread is HUGE !!
Many apps require Android 2.2+ like Voice Search etc , and CM7 serves the purpose.
Thanks to devs like doixanh & HAKA , we got excellent CM7 based ROMS which have functionalities like app2sd , custom animations , acceleration rotation settings , back button for ending calls , notification power widgets , center clock options , change the style of battery icon , signal display , render effects , screen-shots ,a variety of in-built screen-locks , boot animation disable , status bar slide brightness control , bottom status bar and lots more....
To be honest , if you need an absolutely bugless ROM , stay on stock.
If you don't care about the very very minor irrelevant bugs (which have no impact on the working of the phone) , then go for CM7
These are the two most famous Cyanogen 7 based ROMS -->

Thanks, the links you gave me, will they work on my phone (I live in the UK) or will there be network problems. I don't know much about custom ROMs...

The links I gave you will require your phone to be rooted. It doesn't matter where you live.
Here is a guide to help you.

There should be no problems at all. I used almost every ROM on this forum , and to be honest , I do not remember any network problems on them
Thanks for the help guys; really appreciate it.
With the information provided I think I am ready to upgrade (very) soon.
Hi guys I bought my touchpad and the previous owner has aokp 40 running ics installed. Obviously I want to upgrade to more stable and current cm10. I know nothing about aokp and the recovery menu is quirky on the touchpad does anyone have experience with this upgrade?
I've listened to the idiots guide to installing cm10 from revkjr that work to go from aokp to cm? I really don't know the differences between these roms, most of my experience is with cm
Sorry if repost this topic isn't easily found on Google/forums

How is the recovery menu quirky? If something is odd about it, update it first before anything else. Otherwise, the procedure for flashing CM and AOKP are the same. Download full wipe, and flash.

Have a read of this excellent guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2111734 it will have all the links you may need.
First off, if it doesnt have the latest CWM Recovery on it, you can get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2170454
Second, After you update your recovery, all you need to do is download a CM10 ROM and the Gapps, boot into recovery and wipe data, cache and dalvik and flash both files. That should be it.

The account doesn't register properly, and I can't use google play. it's also very slow.
