Internet browsing?? I have just tried this on my wife's iPhone and it doesn't work on that either, the reason is because the phone loses the data connection when a call is answered....however you can do this when connected to wifi.
Why would you want to play music whilst on a call??

I have the web n walk plus package, when I log into Skype and try the echo / test I get intially a really good connection, then after about four seconds the whole thing just breaks up. Have T-Mobile crippled Skype on the MDA Vario III or crippled it across the T-Mobile network.
It's the only complaint I have about the whole package and phone!!!
I get the same on T-Mobile NL. Only once got a clear chat to UK for 5 mins.
Guys,
I've got a similar issue and it says there's no proxy define. Do you guys receive similar message? i tried installing it again, once again it worked first time and after that it started giving the same error, any clue?
Not sure if this is relevant to you guys but certain countries (especially the one I am in, UAE, wont even work on DSL!) are blocking skype transport to keep their cell network charges working.
Check with your carrier to see if they allow Skype???
Thought you needed web 'n' walk max to use voip? Maybe thats why?

I agree: I tought Skype, MSN etc only worked on the WnW Max tarriff
got WnW E7.50 a month on Tmobile. Skype has never worked on it.as for MSN,its a doddle.it works very well on my handset (tytn & ameo). i can even record and send voice clips.
No i don't agree, legally it's not allowed to use your phone for voip,ip or modem on web n walk but you can use it, like now just yesterday my skype worked and and i talked on it without any problem.
I have the same problem with Skype, using T-Mobile NL
I haven't had a good connection yet.
Hello,
I have so many relatives in out of countries. I have to call my relatives in every week. so I want to ask that What is the best Internet caller? I am using Skype for the international call.
Is skype the best for making calls over internet? Also is there anything device for free land-line calls?
umm i'm not much of a internet call user but sometimes i do though to prank on my frens! I use 'Gizmo (Project)' on Ubuntu and 'MediaRing Talk' on Windows, both give free-call services to a few countries..
u can do a search on them, their sites should pop right up (lazy me )
I seem to be having issues using Data when I'm on a call. I'm on T-mobile in San Francisco running 2.2.1. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to remedy this?
Contrary to T-Mobile's position that I can do data while on a call, I typically have the same issue as you. I've only been able to get online a few times while on a call. Usually there's no data connection available.

You can only use data during a call when you see the little 3g symbol at the top near your signal bars. If it shows E, then you can't.
I am not sure if the problem has anything to do with being on T-Mobile. I'm in India & I have observed that on all versions of android, there seems to be a problem in following cases :-
1. Making a call while an sms is being sent out. Try it, and your sms would be returned undelivered & call would not get through. You'll have to reboot the phone to make it work again.
2. Try making a call while data transfer is on. It fails.
3. If some one calls you while data transfer is on, he gets a busy tone.
I started off on my Nexus One with 2.1 & I'm currently on 2.2. My friend who owns a galaxy s and is on 2.1 also has the same problems.
None of these problems existed on my nokia e90.

1. Never tried, but happened to receive calls with SMS being sent. Worked.
2. Works fine.
3. Works fine. Moreover, I happen to use a lot of tethering, and tether for hours while talking on the phone - calling people and getting calls.
I guess it's your carrier to blame, not the OS and not the phone(s).
To the OP: as everyone said and will say in this thread, watch for your connection. Having 3G signal is a requirement.

You must be in a 3G area for simultaneous voice and data.

i dont get those errors, and i've specifically tested making a call while transferring data, and many combinations of that.
i have never, though, tried the sms send and call test. i'll have to try that out.
anyway, the nexus one can use data during a phone call on the 3G network. if you are connected to EDGE then it will not work and the data will pause.
My phone does show a 3G signal and I still can't do it. I know that T-Mobile throttle the speed. Do you think it has to do with throttling?

it must be some isolated case with your spcific sim card or something. when connected to 3g you absolutely should be getting simultaneous voice and data, its very well know. not sure what else you could do.
This is weird. Ive always been able to get simultaneous voice and data. Never had a problem.
Hey Devs I could really use your help in this matter. Here is the deal, I would like to find a way to be able to make free phone calls using my Captivate while deployed to Iraq/Kuwait. I will be leaving soon and would like some help with a "be all" solution. I use ATT but I don't think that really matters for what I am wanting to accomplish. I have searched all over the internet and I see a bunch of way to do this...in USA. I can't seem to find a way that will work in Iraq. I have tried to use a combo of Sipgate + Google Voice but I read somewhere that google voice only works in USA and the steps that are used appear to be for a past version of the phone app and i can't seem to get it to work correctly. I don't have a lot of time to try and figure this out because I leave very soon. If anybody knows of the steps needed to allow free cell phone calls over Wifi in the middle east, please help me out.
I know I can use Skype and that is the preferred way but that means that my all my friends and family will have to be defendant on a computer or a smart phone. I don't want that, I would like to be able to call any number on any phone over Wifi.

Skype can call mobile and land lines. You just need to have credit. I know its not free. But there really is no free way to make calls over wi-fi.
**Edit: at least not any good means.
Google Voice only really works to US *numbers*, but the free inbound you get from Sipgate One is a US number, so it works.
The only problem is latency and variable call quality, but if you're half a world away people should be understanding...
For apps I suggest Xinlu's Google Voice Callback and CSipSimple.
Ummm ive been to kuwait and the wifi over there is not good enough to be making calls on ur phone via wifi best bet is skype or other services and or just get a local sim card over there and make cell calls and also u should just use the free dsn lines they have over there.

Hi, I’ve got a Samsung galaxy s3 mini and Orange hiro ( Alcatel one touch mini idol ) both purchased from orange .
When I receive a call from Hiro to S3, in some places the dialer/phone app shows person who is calling me but when I press to answer the app freezes and I do not hear anything and the other person can’t hear anything .
After this incident the S3 has no sound anywhere in any browser , youtube , music / video player as if it does not have a speaker. If I restart the S3 sound works again until the Hiro calls me.
Weird is that when I call the Hiro there is no problem.
After some investigation I discovered that if I switch on the GSM mode S3 I don’t have this problem and I can get calls from Hiro. As you know on gsm the network speed is a few kb compared to wcdma.
I also did some tests and when outdoors with WCDMA mode the problem does not occur.
Also if I set Hiro on GSM and mine on WCDMA/GSM or just WCDMA there is no problem with my phone.
Both phones weren’t rooted or other interventions that would void the warranty , their firmware is up to date.
I do not understand why the S3 is unable to perform a basic function.
I tried the 2 sim cards in other phones but there is no problem, the problem only occurs when Hiro phone calls mine.
So far I have tried:
Reset to factory.
Clearing data from Dialer/phone app.
What is frustrating is that sometimes the connection between two works fine but when it doesn’t my phone ends up disabled with no sound.
Thanks.
Update:
I sent the phone 4 times to warranty and got the motherboard+battery replaced, the problem persists. I don't know what to do anymore.
