Hello guys,
I'm using X8 for a month now and I still have a very annoying problem (for me at least) - I can't find a way to store my contact's birthdays directly from my phone. I've read a lot about it and it turns out, that there's actually no way of doing that Yes, I know I can edit my contacts in Google Contacts and then transfer them to the phone, but I don't really like this option since I usually want to write the person's birthday just after writing his name and phone.
I'm writing this thread here, because it's not a general Android 2.1 problem. I have a couple of friends with some LG Android phones (not sure about the exact models) and they have this option in their stock Android 2.1.
So, how can I do this without any 3rd party apps (like EboBirthday and others). I hope there will be a solution to the problem. If not - can you please tell me a custom ROM that has this feature. I've tried a couple, but they don't. I don't really care what version of Android will this ROM have, because I'm actually satisfied even with the stock 2.1.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help.
P.S. Happy first post
Maybe u can.
Edit a contact and click on add detail....select birthday if its there....hopefully ,,it should be there....
Hit thanks if it helped:fingers-crossed:

For the life of me I can't get some of my contacts to sync to google, instead of just being phone contacts. Any idea how to do this? I'm trying to get the contacts of a 2.1 sense ROM to sync to google so they will appear on my AOSP 2.2 setup. Thanks in advance.

I haven't used 2.1 since before summer, so I'm rusty with it, but when you edit a contact, can't you change whether it's saved to the phone or Google account?
I haven't seen that option anywhere. Ive been using aosp but nanded back to see why I was missing contacts and didnt see that option...

I am in the same boat...haven't used 2.1 for quite awhile, but I know there is an option somewhere. Positive.
One other way, if you absolutely can't get them to switch doing it on your phone, add them online and delete them from the phone (the ones that are phone contacts). But I know the option is there to change them somewhere. Maybe I will flash back just to find out where
Give those contacts a email address, even if its a bogus one. They will sync once you do that, or at least they did on mine.

misread!
.. ..
When I first got this unit, when I added a contact it gave the option to save to google account or Sim card/ sd. I do not have that option anymore, nor can I find a setting for it. Im sorry if this is noobish question, or if this has been covered elsewhere.

And that is: that beautiful contact widget called buddy or something that permitted you to have your quick contact list with photos on desktop. It came with my stock rom when I bought the phone and I have much used it since then. Do you know where I could find it again? My Note is not rooted.
Thanks.

I have installed the stock s version and like this rom a lot but there are 2 features i would like to remove.
1. Startup/shutdown sound
2. Lg contacts. I only want to use google contacts
How can i remove these?
I am sure this had been asked before but I could not find anything when searching.
Thank you for your help.

1) is easy. Use a root explorer and rename/delete the files /system/media/audio/poweron/poweron.mp3 and /system/media/audio/poweroff/poweroff.mp3.
2) Not sure exactly what you mean. If you want to force the phone to only use google contacts or if you want to delete the contact program alltogether (which means you must install another contact manager yourself.) Please explain what you're trying to achieve.
Thank you for the first answer.
Regarding the second one. I want to only use google contacts. Now by default if i create a new contact it is stored as local lg storage and i need to change it to my google account manually. I like the contacts app itself just not the lg integration in it.

Then 2) is just as easy, you need to freeze/uninstall "LG PC Suite".
Double thanks. That worked perfectly!

How do I send a contact via sms
Usually I click and hold on a number and there should be a copy option
As I understand. Not everyone can recieve a VCARD?
Go to People.Find contact you want to send, open it and click options-there is option SEND CONTACT and that's it.
Tried sending to my wife's iphone
She never got the sms
I guess it's because iPhone cannot receive the format it's sending in?
I just want to send the text in an sms
I cannot believe this simple feature doesn't exist
It works for me but i use go sms pro, lets u send it in sms format.

Iphone or not, it's not cross platform
Therefore it's bad design
I'm a software dev, i don't say that ie10 isn't standards compliant therefore I won't develop sites for it
No, a good system will be cross platform, particularly when iOS has a huge chunk of the market
I'm basically going to have to ask everyone if they have an iphone or not
A simple copy option is all that is required (I could be writing a word document and need to copy and paste)
Anyway, pointless rant as you don't work for google, but thanks for contributing
I installed that messaging app but it defaults to the HTC message app when I try and send the contact
