[Q] restoring the droid 3 - Motorola Droid 3

Okay so I got a droid3 that shut off when i used the slider so I was expecting a new droid3 and thought id take a chance bricking a phone i was gonna send back via fedex anyways.
I rooted the first phone and got titanium backup (free)
I couldn't freeze anything with the free version so I wanted to see if i could delete things I wasn't usually allowed to, BYE BYE BLOCKBUSTER
my new phone is here and I already used the old phone to find what apps i like n wahtnot
before I send the 1st phone back I am trying to put the blockbuster back.
I thought I could back it up with titaniumBU on the new phone and restore it on the 1st D3.... It doesn't seem to be working.
does anyone know how I can restore the blockbuster in the system, I can't even figure out what folder it's suppose to be in or I'd just copy and paste it (if that even works)

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...tware-backup-assistance-dont-wipe-device.html
The guy has a link to where to download the system/app folder, you can take that apk and follow the instructions he has. Should work

i got the back up so i can use the "petes motorola root" tool
it has an unroot option and i downloaded the system restore but it says i have to save it in a certain file on my computer. /restore/ subfolder
where do i have to save this restore folder and do i just name the subfolder "subfolder" im so confused.

Make a folder called restore in the folder your root tools is in, and copy the contents of the dump's system/app directory into that folder

Wow, I knew it was something simple. I can't believe that's not the first thing I tried

Market Fix For Leaked OTA

Missing paid and some nonpaid apps?
This will revert your build fingerprint (its safe and pre-tested by me) so that they show up again.
Install it like any update.zip type install. Backup to be safe, and yes, you must be rooted.

cool been thx alot for this
I installed the zip while in recovery but I still cannot find some apps. Two examples are Tapatalk Pro, and Windfinder Pro. They both have updates being shown available in Appbrain but they cannot be found, 'The requested item could not be found.'
How about in the regular market?
Both show up for me. This change may not be instant. Check back in a few hours. Unless you want to hard reset your phone. I believe it has to do with the frequency that your gmail account syncs with the market.
Well I can search for them in Appbrain fine but when I click them it says 'The requested item could not be found.' I will late a little while.
Thanks
All just showed up after I rebooted the phone again.
Simply installing one new app made all of my apps reappear on the marketplace downloads page.. not sure if will work for others
JTC, this worked for me. Installed a quick free app, then everything else showed up. Thank you both.
I have sky raider's froyo rom and this froze my restart. is there another way?

You can restore a nandroid system backup if you have one recently. Always make one before you do anything that changes your phone. That way when failures happen from messing with system files you can restore.
You can possibly open his rom, then go to the system folder within it.
look for the build.prop file there. Copy it to your tools folder where ADB is.
Then do this
reboot phone into recovery
go to command prompt
type adb push build.prop /system/
This should solve the issue if you can get the build.prop off his phone or just do a nandroid restore from this rom.

I still want to fix the market though. Can I edit the build file
installed this .zip file about an hour ago. no change yet. I'll check it in the morning. Hope it works, as these missing apps are beginning to bother me.

[Q] titanium backup not reloading all apps!

hey guys i'm a noob for sure but i just flashed cognition 4.5.3 to my captivate and it works great. the problem is when i pulled the titanium file from my pc back to the sd and hit batch restore it never loaded my apps and all my important data. i'm looking directly at the file and the info and nothing! i rebooted afterwards also. i have read all over different types of forums for my certain issue and i didn't find my certain situation. please help! thanks ahead of time guys.
Go into preferences and make sure your restoring from the correct folder. Also make sure you select refresh apps list. I went through what I think is the same issue when I took my tibu from my pc and put it on a new phone. Btw, to avoid getting any crap from members, you should post questions in the Q&A forum next time. Just a heads up.

info is key to assistance. without real info, nobody can help as we are all stabbing in the dark
what FILE?
titanium backups are located within a FOLDER
did you name the TITANIUM BACKUP folder different when it was on your PC?
when you moved it back you didnt move that folder INSIDE another TITANIUM BACKUP folder did you?
knowing the difference between a FILE and a FOLDER is key here.....
Some apps won't be restored unless you reboot. Try that first.
i went to preferences and it recognized there was 2 files in my tibu. i chose the one that was on my external sd.i went back into tibu and went to batch restore all apps and data and the apps and data were from my newest backup done after i installed cognition. now when i go into my files it doesn't even show any data at all.it says no files on my external. i don't understand. all my pictures, movies, music, and all my backup data was on there. i have rebooted i've went into recovery looking to install packages like on the original captivate os but the cognition menu is a little different and i don't want to hit the wrong thing in the menu because i'm new to all of this.
ok guys i just wanted to say first and foremost, thank you for the help and advice. secondly i would like to say i feel like an idiot. i went back into tibu and hit restore apps and at the bottom of the page there was all my apps and missing data crossed out. i went back in and deleted the other 2 tibu folders i had( 1 in the internal sd and the other in the ext. sd). i restored all missing apps and data and made a completely new restore file. i will make a new folder on the pc tonight and put that one on there. thanks again!

Need help: Attempting to restore DLNA/System Service after Uninstalling

Prior to rooting, I reformatted my phone and afterwards I backed up all system apps and bloatware with Titanium Backup Pro. I then uninstalled all bloatware that I knew was safe to uninstall. No problems whatsoever.
However, just to be on the safe side, I decided that I'm going to restore all uninstalled apps, unroot, reset, reroot, and use Pete's script bloatware remover/renamer.
All bloatware has been reinstalled successfully except for DLNA. Whenever I try to restore DLNA or DLNA System Service 1.0, Titanium Backup simply stays on "Restoring App+Data" forever, unless I reboot the phone. I have tried reinstalling DLNA first then I tried reinstalling DLNA System Service first. To no avail. It just gets stuck on "Restoring App+Data."
Any ideas?
Hmm, strange...same thing is now happening with Flickr Authenticator. Perhaps TI is bugging out now. I just don't get it. Really hope to hear some input soon.
i restore all removed apps with this: www.psouza4.com/Droid3
once U download unzip n place in a subfolder named restore
I had a similar thing happen to me when using Titanium, but with different apps. I'm not sure what causes the bug, nor am I certain about how to fix it. It's part of why people have been recommending that we freeze apps as opposed to backing them up (with Titanium) and then deleting them.
However, you can get the apps back by going into the system dump and copying the necessary files back into /system/app. You can find the system dump here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164736
Just take the DLNA and DlnaSystemService apks and odex files, place them on your SD card, and then copy them over to /system/app using whichever method you prefer (Root Explorer, ADB, etc). Hope this helps

I don't think Psouza's Script can restore apps that are uninstalled. Only if they are renamed or frozen by TI. Please someone chime in and correct me if I'm mistaken.

That's fantastic, thank you my friend.
You are wrong.
When I was updating from 5.5.959 to 5.6.890, one of my apps was gone. Deleted. Idk how, but I searched my system for 10 minutes, it was called Fota.apk
I used psouza4s tools (he helped me) and restored the missing app, and then I got to update to 5.6.890

[Q] bricked from editing build.prop. How to replace with backup build.prop?

I've managed to get my device stuck at a continuous loading screen. I have clockwork installed and noticed I can mount my /system folder, however doing this didn't actually seem to mount it. I'm trying to find a way to replace my build.prop with a backup I've created, but can't get into my phone to do so.
help??? lol, thanks.
Take my replacement Google/flashplayer zip from any if my 10e or 10k rom and open it... delete files in app folder... go back out of app folder into the system folder and put your build prop into it. Put on sdcard from computer ( take sdcard out of phone). Put back in phone and flash it with cwm

Thanks!
So I've added build.prop into /system and deleted the 2 files from /system/app.
I've clicked install zip from SD card and it says something along the lines of:
installing
finding update
opening update
installing update
installation aborted
Is it supposed to say installation aborted after it's installed?
There's a possibility that build.prop actually did copy properly and it's something else I did earlier in the day that bricked it.
im also soft bricked... stuck on LG screen... anyone have any ideas??
If you know how to sign it then sign zip and reinstall.
Otherwise just flash rom again and restore data later

I ended up using an old cwm backup and doing an advanced restore of only the /system. This made the device accessible, however almost no text would show up. I was atleast able to install titanium backup, make a backup, then flash a brand new rom and restore my data on that rom.
I've learned from this to make cwm backups more frequently, and especially have one ready if you're going to edit build.prop.

[Q] Titanium Backup Recommendations

Twice now I have found my TB backup directory to be mysteriously empty. I have no clue why. Fortunately, I started using the sync to DropBox option. However, the files on DropBox were only my last backup and not all my back up files that I saved.
My question is, are there any recommendations to easily save a back up of all of my TB back up files, preferably on the phone and in a manner/location that won't be recognized by TB. Maybe as a compressed archive?

change the folder name. Backup files are stored in internal memory of the phone. named "TitaniumBackup". Change that name to any other. When u back up next time it will automatically generate another folder named " TitaniumBackup"

My recomendation is to take a backup in temporary cwm or if you use cocore kernel use twrp
if you want to use titanium backup rename it and take backup
