[Q] MIUI - Launcher Pro FC on custom icon - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, i'm currently on MIUI 1.9.16, with launcher pro +
just moment ago, i tried to change my dock icons and background.
but whenever i try to change any icon, LP(and or LP+) force closes on me by saying
"android.process.acore stopped working"
i tried flashing the miui rom from scratch for like 3 times already,
rebooted the phone 10+ times,
re-installed LP+ 10+ times..... by doing Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > LauncherPro > Clear Data & Cache > Uninstall > reinstall
can anyone help me with this?
this is very annoying..

Yes that's true but it would fix the problem.

The fix is to not use that closed source launcher

I've had the same problem as him and I never use that POS launcher.

I noticed this a while ago.
However, I did find a workaround.
Try using a Desktop visualizer shortcut instead of a normal shortcut.
That worked well for me.

Bump!
Anyone have a fix for that?

Launcher crash

So its starting to annoy me. Does anyone else have an issue with whatever launcher they use it kind if restarts when hitting the home bbutton from an app? I've noticed it with GB launcher adw, xperia launcher. Its annoying because I hit the home button it freezes for a second and I have to wait for my app drawer to load. Does anyone else have this issue? I've come across it in all roms froyo and gingerbread alike.

Not an issue for me with LP+
Yup... happens to me on any launcher but not after every app-it seems random. I am assuming that Android is killing it to manage memory and then I restarts when home is pressed or I back out of an application to the home screen. Btw, I am running GR-11.

Thats what I'm thinking. Yeah its not after every app close. Is there anyway we can change it so the os doesn't kill it off?
I have the "prevent force-closes" options checked in launcherpro and it usually doesnt close off the homescreen. In the off chance it does close, the launcher needs to rebuild the app drawer etc etc.
Did some more research.
It fixed it for me completely just go into the terminal app (if you don't have one get it from the market), Continnum 5.4.1 came with it.
use this command.
su {hit enter}
echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop {hit enter}
reboot {hit enter}
I found what you taught is quite useful. I am not sure whether the script affect all the launcher or default one with OS?

[HELP] Go Launcher FORCE close

Im using the Go Launcher with Honeycomb Theme and today when i turned the phone ON the Launcher is force closed.
The phone is "working", i can turn volume up and down, can acess ATK but i can acess nothing of the system cause every time the Go Launcher force close.
When i press the force close button it just appear again and ask to force close and it keep going on and on and on...
Can anyone help me??
Bump up up up up
Try to change the theme, I have no issues using go launcher. You can also remove user settings from manage apps, if you run out of ideas. Though it will realy wipe all go launcher settings.
Problem solve with a factory reset.
PS: I wasnt able to acess any options menu, i could acess only the status bar.

Why is one button nav disabled on the Android One version?

I got my X4 yesterday, and tried to enable one button navigation, but the option isn't listed anywhere. The Moto site says it's disabled. Is there any reason why? Could it be enabled with a ROM?
I have no idea, I contacted Motorola about the issue and they say it has nothing to do with them and I should contact Google. When I contacted Google they say it has to do with the app and I should contact Motorola...
You can enable it with Nova launcher, but when you do, you lose the nav bar, and the only way to get it back is a factory reset (so far).
Create a widget in Nova launcher.
Nice launcher - activities
Moto actions
tutorial.onenav.onenavtutorialactivity
Launch it. Do the tutorial. Can't remember if it crashes or not at the end. But you have to reboot phone. After reboot, nav bar will be gone, and you will be using one tough navigation.

You are the man! Worked perfectly thanks so much!
Thanks!!
Yep, thanks! Don't know why I would ever want to reenable the nav bar.
You can also use QuickShortcutMaker to do this
Go to Moto Action
com.motorola.actions.tutorial.onenav.OneNavTutorialActivity
Follow the tutorial and at the end click on activate to enable the feature
Will this also enable "Moto Key"? I'd like to enable this for use on my android 1 so I can unlock my windows computer with my fingerprint.

After the tutorial I selected to enable it and then I rebooted. The nav bar is gone but the one touch isn't working. It's impossible to work the phone without the back button and home button.

Try rebooting it again? Or go thru the steps again and make sure it's actually enabled. I've been using it with no problems for over 2 months now.
Or try the widget the other person mentioned.
I went through the tutorial again and this time it didn't crash and as soon as it was done the button started working. Now after several reboots it's still working fine.
The one thing I noticed is that there are no settings for this available in the moto app and no matter what I do I can't get the phone to sleep like in the tutorial. The rest seems to work.

It happened to me, just do the tutorial again.
Is there a way to turn this off and re-enable the nav bar? I'd like to know if it's possible without doing a hard reset.

I’m also curious about this. I used the quickshortcutmaker method
I guess that the reason is the Android One program, which has to follow strictly stock Android behaviour (which does not include any kind of fingerprint sensor navigation).
1. Does this still work with oreo?
2. Is it reversible?
1. Yes. Just run adb shell "am start -n com.motorola.actions/com.motorola.actions.tutorial.onenav.OneNavTutorialActivity" twice through without rebooting.
2. You need to erase the data for Moto app in order to revert it.

Yep, that worked. Funny that my wife just started complaining about that the fingerprint sensor should be the home button so just in time. For the "erase the data," do you mean "Clear Data" in the app settings?
You need to do a factory reset, not clear the data and cache in the Moto app.
Does this activity exist as of the 8.1 update? I cannot find the activity using the Nova shortcut method. Have not tried the ADB method, as you have to do a workaround to get ADB in this version.

OneUI crashing when trying to add widgets

Question Back and home button not working while there is an incoming call

Hi, does anyone know how to go back or to the home when the full-screen call is showing? I at times receive calls from people while I'm doing something else and if I somehow get the full-screen call, there's nothing that can be done but to wait out till the call gets disconnected after a minute or so for me to use other things! Please help if someone knows what to do!
Try clearing system cache.
Hard reboot.

Doing that doesn't solve this! The entire screen is taken over by the call screen and the only way to go back or go home is to wait till the call is disconnected! If I pick up or dismiss the call, I can use the back or home but if not i have to wait!

That was the easy fix...
When did it start? Always like that? An update or new/uninstalled app?
Normally the navigation buttons are always at the bottom. You using swipe navigation or a gesture app? Could it be the theme you're using?
Try to find the root cause otherwise a factory reset with the likelihood it may return.
Try clearing the phone cache then app data.
Samsung Experience Service cache but if you clear it's data you'll loose a lot of settings.

It is like that in almost all samsung devices, even my tab behaves the same. But I do use gesture navigation. I'll try once with the other things and if it so happens that the gesture navigation is the cause I'll use routines to change the NAV bar when call comes!
Thanks I'll report back!
Try this...
Galaxy Store>Good Lock family>Navstar
One Handed Operation plus will also let you swipe the sides.
