[Q] GingerDX V14 to use ClockworkMod to flash. - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi people, noob question here:
To install GingerDX v14, i cannot use xRecovery anymore?
Can you explain what is ClockworkMod and how to install and use?
thank you in advance.

clockworkmod is same as xrecovery so if are using previous gingerdx just reboot into clockworkmod and just flash it

You can use the xRecovery to install the GingerDX too...
I used here

yea i used xrecovery to flash gingerdx and clockworkmod to flash wifi hotfix but wifi still has problems

I am using stock eclair yet, i bought the phone les than 1 week ago and i wanted to test stock android first but i am planning to move to froyobread or gingerdx and i have all ready, xrecovery, rooted, etc but when i saw the "use ClockworkMod to flash." in red and all i have assumed that it can't be done with xrecovery.
thank you for your quick responses.

The wi-fi hotfix is for Clockworkmod, flash using it!

can you explain how to install CWM please?
it will replace xrecovery?
i have found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119456
but i dont understand exactly how to install.
thank you.

easy way to insalt giingerdx 14 is to first insalt gingerdx13 by flashing it with xrecovery and by insalting gingerdx13 u have insalt clockworkmod and xrecovery and then press the power button ,then choose restart and clockworkmod ,then flash gingerdx 14

Install phone hotfix V015 via ClockworkMod Recovery...pls see 1st page GDx...
ok last question...i think gingerdx suppport multi touch isnt it? but why i cant use the function....
Maybe you have a Cypress digitizer. Look at the stickies for info and Q&As
Actually, you have to install GDX by using ClockworkMod Recovery.
Take a look at the requirements at GingerDX thread.

Yes you can, but last gingerdx must be installed with cwm
Sent from my E15i using XDA App
First you install a xrecovery-version of GDX, for example v013
than you can install his LinuxDX
and last install the actually v017 of GDX
NO NEED!

If you want use kernel + rom:
- copy zipped rom to sd
- flash kernel
- boot phone, tap screen to get in to recovery
- install custom zip
GingerDX v001~v014 - install with xRecovery
GingerDX v015 and above - install with CWM

[Q] GingerDX

Hey Guys
Am kind of lost At the Gdx instruction thingies
Okay i know how 2 install it
..
So
i have the 2.1 ..
With all the required Stuff
the baseband number...etc
So is it now like always?
P.S: My bootloader is unlocked ..
So again is it like always
install ZIP From either Xrec.. Or CWM??
And about the recommendation 2 install The Linux
is it Safe???????
Completely Safe i mean???
And what are the benefits of Linux + GDX ?
..
your answers are gonna be the reason 2 either install the Rom Or not :/
So please HELP?
I did like this :
1.FULL wipe
2.flash gingerdx v017
3.flash linuxdx
And everything is good Is it safe? If you did everything all right its safe now with latest gdx with latest linuxdx i have=NO LAG AT ALL, EVEN WITH MANY APPS INSTALLED AND LOW RAM! ! i really easily recommend it to you

If you read carefully GingerDX v014+ requires CWM for install it, for v013- versions you can install with xRecovery.
And GingerDX is safe, little bugs in some versions but with solution in almost all.
In my opinion the battery drain is the most important issue, with the Governor in ONDEMAND my battery drains just in the night 20%, that's a lot. Now, with Smartass, the battery drains just 3% over night.
I don't know about the performance with LinuxDX Kernel. I can't help you with that.
I'm sure that in the respective post you can get more information.

Totally wrong order. You should:
1. copy rom to SD
2. flash kernel from PC
3. install rom from X8 recovery
4. full wipe
0 - make backup

Guys for the love of God don't Get me confused ..
Just flash the kernel, ater that do afull wipe, and then flash the ROM in CWM-Recovery.
And if it´s not stable, flash stock ROm with stock kernel again and flash ONLY GingerDX without the Kernel.
Dude
while flashing the Linux
it stopped ..
And told me 2 tick the God damn USB debugging !!
DAMN I FORGOT 2 TICK IT BEFORE !!
And the phone now won't Go ON..
At ALL !!
it just shakes ..
Then nothin
Am trying 2 Fix it with Sony ericsson update service
But the installation is STUCK!
completely it won't Work..
..
Damn????
you should flash by flashtools .
Or the battery is low.. it happened to me once when flashing my gf's x8. It took a while for me to realise it. Lol. Just a suggestion, based from my experienced.

KERNEL - this you flashing using FlashToll from PC
ROM - zip file that you installing from CWM or xRecovery
Proper order (I assume that bootloader is unlocked already):
1. Make backup of apps using TitaniumBackup then xRecovery or CWM
2. copy new ROM to SD
3. turn on USB debugging
4. disconnect USB cable
5. shut down phone
6. run FlashTool and press "flash"
7. press and hold "back" button in phone and plug in USB
8. wait for flash is done ("flash complete ... disconnect ...")
9. disconnect USB
10. turn on phone and start tapping screen to enter CWM
11. using CWM menu install custom zip
12. do full wipe
13. reboot
14. wait.... it can take up to 5 mins
15. install Titanium and restore apps
If it will not run you just flash back stock kernel, then seus for stock rom, root it, install xrecovery or cwm and restore backup.

1. root your phone
2. install xrecovery
3. flash gingerdx version 013 !!!!!!! (using XRecovery)
4. boot your phone in gingerdx013 and then reboot in CWM recovery !!!!!
5. flash gingerdx version 021 !!!!!!! (using CWM)
6. flash the other applications for stock kernel recommanded by dx
7. enjoy
gingerdx 013 and 021 + stock kernel apps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188486
the link gingerdx013 didnt work for me...simply google it
Give MiniCM 2.0.7 a try... it's run on stock kernel (unlike MiniCM 2.1.6) and the only problem i have is spontaneous reboots now and then... otherwise, it's more stable than anything else i've tried.

It seems that your phone is rooted already
If you want a real stable and fast custom rom go for Froyo Pro 2.2 this is the most stable and fast rom i ever tried. It comes out w/ usual GB features like real dual touch on a cypress digitizer, OC, to name a few.
Just follow the instructions and ur done..

Install Xrecovery
have you rooted your phone already?
If not use SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse to root phone once you root the phone with SuperOneClick reboot phone and busybox should be intalled
make sure you enable USB debuggin...
settings/applications/development enable usb debuggin
to install xrecovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970842
use root explorer and put the files you downloaded to the path system/bin
and its done... reboot and once you see the sony ericsson logo press the back button repetedly, am pretty sure that with 2 or 3 clicks would be enough to access Xrecovery
press thanks if it was helpfull

Hallooo friends ..... i don't know how to install CWM recovery cozz i have installed xrecovery before .... can you help me .. how to do that ???? Thanks before

Flash GingerDX from xrecovery. It has CWM recovery and deletes xrecovery automatically
search the android development forum and youll see a post by nobodyAtall which explains everything
You first have to understand amend and edify scripts
amend-xrecovery and cwm below v3
edify-cwm v3++
so you are on amend script
download amend script file from nAa forum
here's the link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745

The next time you suggest something like that you may want to add that:
ONLY GINGERDX v013 OR OLDER CAN
BE FLASHED WITH XRECOVERY!
I swear I refer all soft-bricks caused by xRecovery installations to you guys so you can talk the people through the whole Flashtool Tango.
If you can't read and therefore fail to comprehend that the OP Post read "CLOCKWORKMOD (V014+)" better don't even reply.
well, already solved
