I am looking to update from stock Nodo tmobil us to Mango. I seem to have spl 3.1 on my phone. I am confused about some of the posts I have read. Do I need H/Rspl or will that brick my phone? Can I flash the Schubert Europe and then change the radio to US? Thanks for your help!

the simplest way to get to Mango RTM would be here.
i would first update to latest TMOUS ROM to get latest Radio and OEM drivers then use that method to update.
the downside to using that method, though, would be no future updates via official Zune channels.
if, in fact, you want to go the official Europe update way...
1) RSPL your TMOUS HD7.
2) flash RUU_Signed.nbh from Europe Mango RTM.
3) flash SPL_Signed.nbh from whichever TMOUS ROM.
end result should be Mango RTM with TMOUS Radio.
all HD7 Shipped ROMs can be found here.

Has anyone tried this?

This method seems easier, but too easy.

Is there a way to get mango but still be able to flash the official update? Can you down grade later and flash official?

that is the way i had described...
the Europe Mango RUU leaked by Football is official update for Europe version HD7.
so, when Mango is OTA released... no update to get.
if you have a TMOUS HD7 and flash to Europe Mango then you must flash an 'older' TMOUS RUU later to get official TMOUS Mango, unless a TMOUS Mango RUU is released.

Excuse me for being a noob. The Web site I posted didn't say anything about flashing h/RSPL. Do I need to flash that so I could get the radio? Also, your post with the "here" had a whole bunch of steps. Are these two diff roms? This all seems a little different to me I'm coming from a hd2 I broke. I currently have the correct radio but if I flash the Euro Rom I am assuming it would change my radio, correct?

they don't use the word flash, but they do indeed say to RSPL.
once you have the EURO ROM is flashed, you won't need RSPL for the Radio.
use RUUWrapper for HD7 to flash Radio.

alright, let me see if i understand you correctly...
you have HSPL with DFT 7713 and want Europe 4.05.401.02 installed?
if i understood correctly...
yes, you can do this.
1) download Europe 4.05.401.02, can be found here.
2) download the latest stock NoDo ROM for your HD7, can be found at same link above.
3) extract RUU_Signed.nbh from Europe 4.05.401.02.
4) extract SPL_Signed.nbh from stock NoDo ROM you downloaded.
5) boot your HD7 into Bootloader.
6) flash Europe 4.05.401.02 RUU_Signed.nbh with task29, can be found here.
7) boot your HD7 into Bootloader.
8) flash stock NoDo ROM's SPL_Signed.nbh with task00, can be found at same link above.
9) Admire Mango ROM with 'supported' SPL and stock Radio.
10) relash R/HSPL, if so desired.

the directions i gave are the exact steps i took to get the Europe 4.05.401.2 ROM onto my HD7. and it seems in Zune, i can't upgrade. i think it's because i have a TMOUS HD7, therefore, the ROM's vendor id is different then my HD7's vendor id.

Hello, new to 'hacking' the WP7 but i want to flash a custom dev unlocked ROM to my phone, but i want to make sure i dont use the wrong ROM, so i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction?
I have a HD7 (T Mobile unlocked, US model, i'm in the UK if that makes a difference, also using o2)
It's currently running the official mango by the disconnect internet trick in zune.
Thanks in advance!

any Schubert ROM will flash successfully to your HD7 with RSPL or HSPL installed.
with that said...
is either RSPL or HSPL installed?
if not... you will need to get that. DFT's RSPL/HSPL.
and here is a little how-to if you have the wrong SPL. see steps 2 and 8.
after that,
any ROM in the HD7 WP7 Development thread should flash fine.

Thats great thanks! just a few questions for you..
RSPL or HSPL? (sorry new to this ^^")
So if i install a nodo ROM (considering i'm currently on Mango) will it just roll back with no problems?
do i need to do anything specific with these ROMS that have different radio software versions? or can i just ignore them?
I'm trusting if i use the backup tool i can restore my text messages etc again, i dont really feel loosing them. :/

RSPL is, basically, a temporary SPL, which returns to OSPL (stock SPL) after reset.
HSPL is 'permanent' until you flash another SPL or return to stock.
both allow you to flash a custom ROM.
if you flash a RUU_Signed.nbh from a NoDo ROM it will 'roll back' fine, but will erase all data currently on the device.
but if you just flash the SPL_Signed.nbh from a NoDo ROM, it will only flash the Radio and SPL. i recommend task00 to flash this.
unfortunately, through Zune, SMS doesn't get backed-up.

nope. not a dead end.
quickest fix.
01. visit HD7 Radio Wiki, link in my signature.
02. download a stock NoDo or Pre-NoDo Radio for your device.
03. extract the SPL_Signed.nbh from the 'stock' folder.
04. flash SPL_Signed.nbh with task 00.
05. SPL has now been rolled back.
from there...
06. flash RSPL.
07. flash HSPL, if desired.
08. flash newer Radio, if desired, using RUU_Unsigned.nbh from desired Radio.
09. flash Custom ROM of choice.

i unfortunately don't know.
best bet, is to ask the question on that thread.
i haven't ever tried using it to back up my device.
actually, i haven't ever backed up my device before.
too busy constantly flashing and testing my intrinsicROM.

I know of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16189671&postcount=1 I installed the 3.X version of intrinsicROM for TMOUS then I got an update notice from Zune... updated and now have SPL-5.10.2250.0(132968) MNG I have tried going back to the original TMOUS ROM but nada... How do I go back so I can go forward to intrinsicROM version 4?
Tried to fix, read part of the HPSL instructions and I tried using the closest match to my spl and now I don't get serial/usb down in the white section and I don't think it connects in boot loader
OSPL 5.x can't be downgraded, yet.
if you tried to XSPL with OSPL 5.x, you probably now have a half-bricked device.
gold card method is rumored to be able to fix this.
jtag would be able to fix this. riffbox is popular.
sorry.
Anybody interested in an HD2??? Ha ha.. figure if I sell it I can get a craigslist phone use my HD7 as a backup till I have a fix.
Sold it... bye bye hd2

You have half Bricked your device.
---------- Post added at 11:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:38 PM ----------
New firmware Update changes SPL to 5.X (Verified on HTC HD7 3 times)
Solution (Steps)
=============
1) Restore via Zune to earlier Restore point "No do", but will not change SPL below 5.X
2) Go through update process Via zune, u will get updates "7.0.7392.0" , "7.0.7403" and the last one will be Mango Update which will follow the Firmware update (that changes the SPL to 5.X)
3) Stop after Mango update is Finished SPL will be 4.X
4) Follow the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295068)
need this so i can have spl 4 an then use other methods of downgrading spl if someone could post any info on how to flash the mango rom to my phone as spl 5 doesnt allow flash but i need spl 4 to downgrade any info on this matter at all will return thanks and T.I.A

I also need this as well, I'm looking to flash a custom ROM but I need to get SPL to a version before 5.X but no idea how to do it and zune doesn't have any restore points stored at all. :/

First you need HSPL or RSPL this is requierd to flash any custom rom or radio firmware.
your SPL version is 5.10 you have to follow this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411904
Here you have the link with many roms to downgrade your spl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427890
i choosed the rom : RUU_Schubert_HTC_Europe_1.60.401.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10_Signed_SCHUBERT_RELEASE.rar
Choose one listed in the dft RSPL software you will understand when you will run the software read carefully the instructions or you will brick your device
Then follow this :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647 to HSPL RSPL
Thats what i did to install nextgen rom

The Tutorial thread explains what needs to be done in the clearest way, if you haven't read it, check it out
Basically, if you have a Pre-Nodo backup in Zune, it shouldn't matter whether you've got a Branded or Unbranded device. If you don't have a pre-Nodo backup, and you're device is Branded and on SPL 5.xx (which from what i'm reading, your's is) then the easiest way to donwgrade SPL (and therefore have the ability to get a custom ROM on your phone) is to use this GoldCard method.

thanks,,,that made things clear...so since I currently have the 7720 ROM on my phone and the last backup is of December 1 2011...is it safe to assume that its NODO or Pre_nodo ?? Cos if it is I might go ahead with it...for some reason Goldcard method looks more vulnerable to bricking the device...(opinion)
Well i guess it depends when your device was updated to NoDo. I think it came out early last year didn't it? Like March/April? So a December 2011 backup is likely a post-Nodo backup and therefore you won't be able to use it.

yes , there is a way to repair the device that has been bricked!
it's like flashing computer mainboard's bios , if it's not even loading it can be programmed again! but unfortunately i haven't been able to find see how they do it.
