I wanted to check if there is going to be any issue of using my sdcard from my droid 2 with my droid 3 and if I will have issues restore apps from the sdcard using titanium?
Or should I just copy files from my sdcard to computer and format card and start fresh?
Hard Bricked my Droid 2 and they are replacing it with a Droid 3.
I'm pretty sure you won't have an issue, but then again I could be wrong. i would just try and if it doesn't work just copy to computer, format card and paste all the important files such as music back onto the sd card
It will work without a hitch

Everything seems to be fine, except that after rooting my phone and putting Titanium Backup Pro back on it isnt recognizing the apps that are backed up in the TP folder. I can see them there with file manager but titanium doesnt see them.
Titanium uses the internal memory not ext sd to store backups by default on the D3. change the back up folder in titanium or move the folder to the int mem.

Thanks I moved them from the sd-ext folder to the sd folder, worked great.
I did the same basic migration from a D1 to the D3 and it worked perfectly... after I noticed that internal storaged was mounted as /sdcard and the sdcard was mounted as /sdcard-ext. Gotta love backwards compatibility!

Shows up i.e. my computer when I plug in to the computer, shows up under settings/storage. But Astros and any other file manager doesn't show the as external card
Are you on 2.2 or 3.2?
On 3.2 the sdcard is sdcard2\
On 2.2 the sdcard is sdcard\
I am on 3.2, and I did see that the sd card was sd 2, although I can't figure out how to access it through astro or super manager
also, in cwm it is not finding the path to do a backup to the sd card
Under /mnt you will see /sdcard and /sdcard2.
If you are looking for sdcard2 from within the /sdcard directory, it's just an empty folder.
If you are looking at /mnt/sdcard2, that should hold the contents of your removable flash memory card.

What about in cwm, do I have to do anything to get it to read so I can backup my current ROM in case I would like to flash a custom in the future?
Save to the "sdcard" location and then transfer to "sdcard2" using a file explorer. I always archive my nandroids to a PC or a home server and only keep the most recent backup on removable storage.
Also, please be aware that doing a nandroids backup on a Honeycomb DS7 may not work out very well for you. Please read through the clockwork mod post found here:

How do I move apps to the external SD card versus what titanium calls the SD card?
Running stock rooted .902

I was under the impression that many apps have a hard time running from the external.

If your taking about manualy backing up your downloaded apps. You can use Root explore or ES file explore with root access added through setting. Go to /data/apps and select all to copy to you external SD. Hope thats the answer you need.
Hello I am new to this site and new to android in general. First, some info on my phone.
_ Unlocked bootloader
-Rooted
-ICS 4.0.3
-32gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card with 2 primary partitions
I am having trouble moving anything to my SD card via the phone. When I go to the app menu and try to move an app I only get the option to "Move to Phone Storage." I have searched on google and everyone just makes mention to use a program like link2sd. I've tried using that, and even after creating symbiotic link the apps still only move to phone storage. The program says they are on SD card, but my SD card data usage says otherwise.
My phone does acknowledge the presence of an SD card in the Settings > Storage menu. I am unable to view the contents of the SD card on any of the file explorers either, when I click the SD card all I see are the contents of phone storage. I am able to view and open contents of the SD card by using root explorer under the sdcard2 directory. If I transfer music and photos to the SD card from my PC I can access them with the appropriate widgets on my phone.
So to simplify my post: Is there any way to move an app to the SD card with this device / ICS? The actual external SD card, not the internal phone storage.
Thank you.
I'm not 100% but... In wcx recovery... I think there is an option to switch internal/external storage...
Maybe someone has tried it?

Titanium Backup does this really well. You can do a batch operation to move all user apps to external SD.

Doesn't Astro File Manager do basically the same thing?
Hi,
I would like to know if there is any way to make ext sd card the default one and not the internal sd card? Cause right now, I can't restore certain backups from previous phones as the various apps wont detect. It can only search the internal storage, and is unable to search the storage in the external sd card.
Any app or setting that can do this?
Thank you!
An app like ROM Toolbox should let you browse to the ext sd card to choose a backup. Am I understanding your question correctly?

Hmm, not really actually. An example would be Whatsapp. It backs up to my sd card in my old phone. However, after switching to Droid 4, I can't restore the messages because now it backs up to the internal sd card and not the ext-sd card.
Hi,
Initially when i bought my GT-I9305, the microSD card was writable with all apps (e.g. file managers, titanium backup) on the phone. However, sometime in the last few days the card has become read-only on the phone.
When I use an SD card adapter and put it into my laptop though, it works fine and I can move files around.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this or how to fix it?
Thanks!
Have you tried to install any vrthemes on the phone that is using the sd card to apply the theme, so you may have two folders one vrtheme and the other vrtheme-backup which one or both wont be able to be deleted.
I had the same problem caused by vrthemes being applied mainly in an aroma setup if the theme failed to install correctly or not enough free space to apply it seemed to cause this(for me anyway)
Only thing I could do was to copy all files I wanted to the computer then format the sd card then copy everything back. This is a pain with 32gb of data on the card

Thanks! That worked for me, I also had the vrtheme and vrtheme-backup folders on my card. I tried deleting them by themselves from my computer but it did nothing. Formatting it worked though
