I'm running eVil D's NXSense ROM on my N1 and I've noticed that some applications are missing from the Android Market.
The ones I've found so far are:
- Moviefone (com.aol.mobile.moviefone)
- FCC Mobile Broadband Test (com.ookla.fccbroadband)
- Slacker Radio (com.slacker.radio)
- Parcels (eu.zomtec.android.delivery)
Any ideas why I wouldn't be able to access these applications?
were you able to get them earlier from your region or not? The applications might not be available in your current location- if its that you can try MarketEnabler app to sort it out!
I'm not sure as I hadn't tried to installing them until after I had installed NXSense.
My phone is configured for US as far as I know.
I'll try MarketEnabler and see how it goes
Looks like that was the problem. I forgot that I'm currently using an Australian SIM so the apps weren't visible. As soon as I changed the phone to use T-Mobile US, the missing apps appeared.
Has anyone reset or replaced their (faulty) phones yet? What happens to the apps you've downloaded from Marketplace?
I have a few questions:
1. Are they automatically re-installed or do you have to do it manually?
2. Does it show you a history of the apps you've installed?
I suspect my phone has a fault and I will be sending it back for a replacement, should I be keeping a list of any apps I install or will market place do all this for me?
I have a mixture of paid and fee apps on my phone.
Thanks.
I literally just swapped out an hour ago. When I entered my live ID, the apps I had downloaded came back onto the phone. Nice feature....
Thanks this is very encouraging!
As a windos mobile user, I'm really having to eat my hat. Marketplace is impressing me more every time I use it.
I have been on Blackberry, iPhone and Android on various phones for the past 18 months and I have to say I am impressed as well... its missing some apps (evernote, dropbox and a skype solution) but I know those will come soon.
I really hope this OS gets some real momentum...
i hope it too
I've reset my hd7 twice (for testing purposes not due to faults), the apps I had didn't auto-download, they were listed as purchased and available to re-download. Which would seem a more normal behaviour.

Mine also didn't auto re-install when I went from the prototype device to my developer's HD7 would have been nice to have the option.

Me too. swapped my phone due to a suspected hardware fault. Apps didn't auto-download.
Its been suggested that applications downloaded directly on the phone wont auto install, but those purchased via the zune desktop software will.

I take back everything I said!!!!
I have had my new phone for 24 hours now. Up until my last post nothing had downloaded. I left Marketplace open on my phone and left it and went away. 4 hours later all the I had previously installed had automatically downloaded!!!
I'm really impressed. I think you have to launch marketplace and then leave it a while for it download the apps.
Will leave the games hub open to see if any games download back onto my phone

You are correct...they do not download. If, IF you purchased your apps on your PC from Zune, those apps will download.
You can also find all the apps you purchased in the Zune software on the PC....Settings, Account, Purchse History. phone. This is not actionable...but at least the list of apps is there.
I had the same experience -- was confused why only a couple of apps redownloaded, and I had to grab the rest myself.
What I do miss is a list of 'purchased apps' in the marketplace on the phone itself. I can't remember them all!
I guess if I have to reset again, I'll just add all my 'purchased' apps to zune desktop. And, I guess, should I ever actually pay for an app, do that via Zune Desktop too...
Before the flaming, I have read and searched many threads before posting.
Reading over the manual:
1. Can you select / Install google maps instead of bing maps like on HD2?
2. If not on Bing maps, does your location auto move as you move, similar to GPS?
3. Never used Zune, does it allow you to sync contacts? not important just interesting to know.
4. For those who have synced to google calendar, is it smooth and fully function? or have you noticed issues?
5. Reading about SRS, many say you have to install an app, according to manual, its in the HTC hub section already installed? which one do we use?
6. Not sure where but I read that future updates will be done auto and not force your phone to be reset to factory default like we currently do with HD2, can this be confirmed? any one know ?
I hate doing updates on HD2, having to re-sync and recreate email accounts and settings, if they do updates without having to reset to factory, such as the new Droid OS does, would be a very easy way to function.
Thank you in advance.

1. Currently, only Bing maps is available on the phone, as all primary mapping services also only use Bing (so far). I have yet to come across any apps that use Google Maps, yet.
2. If an application uses the GPS regardless of whether it is using Bing, or Google, or neither, it works the same way where it tracks your location... hence the point of GPS.
3. Zune is for syncing media only at this point. It does not sync your Outlook/Windows/desktop contacts, and currently there is no 'official' way of doing this. Windows Phone 7 relies heavily on the cloud and Exchange server services (Windows Live, Gmail, etc.)
4. Using Google Calendar on the phone is rather simple and straightforward, aside from the limitation that Windows Phone 7 can only currently see your primary calendar only.
5. The SRS and Dolby sound enhancements are HTC-device specific only. You would download the application from the HTC Hub on the Marketplace, which you can only see if you are browsing the Marketplace on an HTC device.
6. Updates are pushed by Microsoft, and not necessarily the carrier (but certainly possible). You are correct that they work more as patches to the system rather than requiring full system re-installs.
I should add that, having been through the hard-reset process recently, getting the phone back to how I had it was fairly straight forward, although there were a couple of time-consuming things:
- set up APN (not needed if you're using an operator-locked phone with the operator's SIM)
- set up WiFi
- Enter Windows Live login details
- Enter Gmail login details
- Enter Facebook details
- Link Gmail contacts with Facebook ones -- most are done for you, but I had about 15 I had to manually link out of 250 contacts.
- Redownload apps. Apparently if you get the apps via Zune Desktop, this happens for you when you resync, but if you've bought/downloaded them via Marketplace, you have to manually redownload.
The bold steps were the time consuming ones. I also lost all saved games, which is frustrating.
Guys thank you for the great and fast responses.
Still a bit confused on the SRS, so is it an app that comes with the phone already? or one we need to get from Market Place?
Also forgot one main question I wanted to ask...
Does WP7 have or need Task Killer?
I know on Droid u have to dl the app,
WM6 came with it
Wm7? dont see any were in manual, do I assume that this new OS actually shuts things down when u close them like it should?
Thanks.
WP7 puts apps to sleep effectively - I can't remember the term they use off hand, but when you navigate away, if the app doesn't ask you if you want to exit, then it will save the state - dehydrated I think is the term! - so it's no longer running in the background. Then when you go back to it, it's rehydrated.
So no task killer.

Not bad, glad to see them follow nokias foot steps on this one.
I hated having task killer but then again its nice to see what is running in back round and bring up a app or process via that as well.
double edge sword i guess

The app does not come with the phone. The phones do come with HTC Hub though, and through that application, you can view all the other HTC apps, including the Sound Enhancer one, and download it through there. It is also available through the Marketplace (HTC Hub just basically links you to the Marketplace for its downloads).
I have a HD7 purchased in India. I am unable to access the marketplace. I thought WP7 market place is available in India. Same goes with Xbox Live also

Hi,
If WP7 was not official launched in India you cannot access those features.
You must create or change your Windows Live account to a region that has WP7 official (UK, USA, Spain, Germany)
Thanks
Had the same issue.
So I have 1 official live account with India region(which I will use when WP7 releases world wide)
and an unofficial live account I currently use for downloading free apps. This one uses the address of a US Mc. Donalds outlet in Bethesda .
Cheers.
Have the same problem.
Can you provide a small guide as to how to go about it.
Btw is it possible to have to live accounts on the same phone?
Also I have already activated the phone with India all over.. so do i have to reset it to enter the fake ID?
Thanks in advance..
I just mailed HTC India regarding it since its now officially available moreover I bought the product with a 1 year warranty.
We can do this without creating ( and wasting time ) a US account
Use regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Zune\Features
You will find 3 keys in it
Apps
Marketplace
singInavailable
in all those key values add IN for example
AT,AU,BE,CA,CH,DE,ES,FR,GB,IE,IT,MX,NZ,SG,US,IN
Launch Zune. Now you will be able to see marketplace. You can make purchase with your credit card , download free apps / games.
Only catch is : after we sync it with zune , registry value changes. You might have to redo this stuff. But the advantage is that when the marketplace is launched in india it will be seemless integration.
Hi asksaravana,
Your tips was truely helpful. I could download some useful apps from the marketplace.
I recently bought a T-Mobile handset HTCHD7 from US.
I want to use it India. Unfortunately all the T-Mobile applications are US specific.
Is there any ways to get Airtel specific applications?
Regards,
Ram.

This works, but now some of the downloaded applications have new versions. How to update them. Marketplace in phone shows 10 updates, but when you click, it gives errors that not available in your country/region.
Found a way to update installed applications on phone.
Install marketplace browser.
Search for the installed application in marketplace browser.
Once you open the application page, you will see update button if there is a new version for the installed app.
Click update and update all your apps one by one.
Marketplace thru Wifi / GPRS
Hey guys, just reached this thread, is there a way any one figured out to get marketplace working either by wifi or gprs / 3G
Coz trying to browse the market from the phone shows " Not Available on your Region" - Zune works perfect.
Regards,
NVV
Solution Found for Marketplace in india
open up zune.
create a new live account from within zune. select location as US.
it will automatically sign you in .
go to your control panel - region and language.
set the location to US under the location tab.
apply the registry hack as mentioned in the above posts.
restart zune.
you can access apps , music, videos . podcasts in marketplace now.
i have been doing this.works all the time.
( you need to change the registry settings everytime before opening zune. or create a registry and that will make everything little easy )
have fun
So is Marketplace still not available in India?
I just switched to Windows Phone. I even bought an app using an Indian account and an Indian credit card. However, the only way I can access Marketplace is by making the registry changes. I can't access it in my phone.
I just uninstalled an app and I have no idea how to re-install it. Can anyone help?
Hello,
I have a little problem with my One and the Play Store.
It has disappeared from the list of devices on the Play Store website.
There is only my old HTC Sensation, my HTC One is no longer there. A few days ago it was still in the list.
The data from the Play Store app I've already deleted.
What's the problem?
Thanks.
Recently having this issue also

I am also having the same issue on my HTC One. This is a new problem that I've come across just today (23/08/13)
I had recently installed the MyGlass application to pair up my Glass, and everything has worked fine since then, however browsing the play store this morning has drawn my attention to the fact that my phone isn't visible on the devices list in the settings on play.google.com
I have tried deleting data from the Play Store as Maik had also done, but opening the play store again on my phone hasn't prompted me to add it to a device list as it usually does.
Upon further investigation I've found that my device isn't listed on the Android Device Manager, as it previously was yesterday.
Running on a HTC One on Android 4.2.2
Looking forward to seeing if anyone has this issue also so we can crunch through it together!
Thanks
EDIT:
Heyo!
I have fixed my problem, though the fix may not be as helpful for you if you don't have multiple accounts on the same phone -
I have signed into Device Manager on a different account linked to my HTC One, and the phone was appearing and working fine [Was able to pull a location, call to the phone etc]
I signed back into my primary account, and the phone had appeared back on Android Device Manager, and going back to the Play Store device list brought the phone back into the list and I was able to install applications from the browser store.
Hope this helps you, good luck in your journey.
Hi,
Just today I have started seeing (or not seeing) the same thing.
All of a sudden my HTC One (m7) is not listed in the "My Devices" page of the web Play Store settings.
Has anyone found a solution to this?
I have cleared the Play Store, Download Manager & Google Services Framework data & cache, and I have also removed my Google account from the phone and added it back. Still no luck.
Thanks a lot for any help.
