Cany anyone point me to a good gingerbread rom?
I presently have P1000XWJMI installed (patched as it had locked bootloaders) but this is only 2.2. I've looked in the development section but can't see which build to use. I'm a bit of a newbie with the Tab so any help would be much appreciated.
The tab is from UK if that makes any difference and is unlocked to use any sim card.
Thanks!
Overcome Kratos is a great ROM and has fantastic instructions.
I'm also tempted by BOCA, but haven't used it yet.
Those two seem to be the most popular GSM ROMs.

Hi all,
sorry for my noob question but i would like to know, as a first time flasher, what ROM i should flash?
I have a P1000 Australian tab, rooted but thats it.
I would like something that runs faster, smoother and with as few bugs as possible.
With so many options out there i was wondering if people could post there experiences with the different ROMS available through this forum to help me decide which one to try first.
I have some experience in jailbreaking (iphones) hacking the motorola Razor and a few other phones over the years.
Thanks all for your input.
I have a Aussie telatra tab. I'm using overcome, its the best rom at the moment. Give it a try
swyped from a galaxy far far away...

+1 on the proper section comment. This section needs a mod.
Any Euro ROM will work on Aussie shipped Tabs. I have an Aussie Optus Tab and use Roto JMIv2, love it.

Hi, I am new with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7'' 3G+Wifi, with 2.3.3. What do you recommend to me: keep this one, Overcome, or Honeycomb alpha. Please, anyone knows what is the different between CDMA and GSM ROMs? Thanks!

welcome to the hood brother in tab ..
your 1st welcome will be . pls post any thread endup with "?" "Q" in the Q|A section and do not post anything in the DEV section only if you plan to create ROM , Kernel
Welcome aboard.
Also state what carrier you have.
GSM is ATT TMOUS
Sprint, Veriz , Boost are CDMA
I love the Overcome rom, works well for what I want.
Thanks for the answers. My carrier is Orange, from Spain, but I don't know if it helps. I would like to flash Overcome but I don't know how begin. I have experience with Nexus One and Hero, but this seems very different.
Overcome is pretty stable compared to honeycomb. Try it first!

GSM phones use sim cards, CDMA need to be activated on the network and can't be transferred to another carrier easily if at all.
Don't know much about the CDMA as Australia got rid of CDMA a few years ago now...
GSM tabs have a larger choice of roms and kernals to try while the CDMA brothers and sister seem fairly restricted in what they can flash. They, however seem to be ahead when it comes to flashing Honeycomb...
ATM Honeycomb is an Alpha buiild, VERY buggy and not really usable if you need your tab in real life, Gingerbread on the other hand has been fairly stable for a while now. Up to you what you want to put on but before you do, READ the instructions on using ODIN or Heimdall, there are guides here.
Check if you're bootloaders are locked here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 Before flashing
and make sure you take it slow, step by step and DON'T skip ahead when flashing.
Happy hunting for that perfect rom ( please don't ask what people think as Its really a personal choice and the threads have more than enough info for you to make a choice).
Cheers...
I have a Galaxy s GT-I9000m using the bell network. I been stuck with android 2.3.3 for over a year now.
I have been doing research and am finding it difficult to find a good source of information.
Mainly looking for the latest and most stable version of gingerbread. Also want to get rid of bloatware.
If someone can point me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful
Thanks in advance.

Welcome!~ Let me tell you it'll get frustrating at first, but if you have patience and are willing to put in some time to learn things you will no doubt be amazed at what you can do.
I had a similar issue a while back and I started a thread, which blew up with information, so I suggest you look through there as it has useful tips from some really great members about what you're looking for. I see you're looking to upgrade from 2.3.3. The latest in my thread is version 2.3.6 and that one is great. Try that out first and when you're ready I suggest moving onto Cyanogenmod 7.1 as it's based on the latest Gingerbread build 2.3.7
Good luck! Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375971
this thread is useful i reckon. good luck.

Thanks,
Does my phone have to be unlocked? It if so the only way to unlock that I've seen is to use another sim card.
No, your phone does not need to be unlocked.
I'm currently running the JW1 (2.3.6) ROM that was released at the end of January with the Bell phone and modem files.
See post #9 in the thread pk1025 linked to.
It discusses and visually displays how to take pieces of different ROMs and install them on a Bell GT-i9000m phone.
It talks about installing JVT, but the same thing applies if you wish to install JW1 or the JVU value pack version discussed here.
Thanks alot the process is making alot more sense.
What's the most current stable version of 2.3.6. and where do I get it from?
Hi folks,
Im a sgs2 user but I have my old I9000 international, that I wish to send away to a friend in need. Im sure this question has been asked a few times but specific to this circumstance, I would like suggestions for a rock stable ICS ROM. I have jelly bean on there now and it seems to be running ok, but if something goes awry, im not around to flash a new ROM for this person and they know nothing about rooting. JB is also not mature enough to send away to someone.
Been away from this forum for awhile since sgs2 but it appears ICS333 is decent?
Also if someone could tell me the best radio for Tmobile. I have no way to test it with a tmobile sim card since im on a canadian provider.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I have tried many jelly bean roms but those are not stable enough that I go back to ICS333 because it is the most stable. First install value pack 2.3.x like xxjvu or xxjvs via Odin then root ur phone and finally install ics333. That works best for me.

Thanks. I put ICS333 and KP1 modem. hopefully that does it. Phone is sent and on its way.
I have tried numerous roms with this tab since I have bought it, all 4.0+.
I didn't try any Gingerbread roms much, and flashed cm9 almost as soon as I bought it.
No rom remains stable without force closing every app upon launching for more than a week. Even the stable 9.1.0 CM9.
Is this a frequent problem with ICS/JB? I had the same problem with a family member's Ainol Novo Elf II, which i just shipped back for returns because of it.
Or is this problem hardware related, being that no rom will work?
Also I tried to flash Galaxy Cubed from the latest CM10, but it gave me an error.
Is there a file to restock this tablet? Such as an sbf file like some phones use?
Please don't flame me for not researching, because I tried with google, but it left a lot to be desired, and much of the info is now outdated.
Thank You for your help in advance!!
you can try EF17 stock rooted rom from this one.

Thank You! I will try that tomorrow. My tab is Verizon CDMA, that shouldn't make a difference even though that says sprint correct?
should not matter, but actually I don't have a CDMA device.
Only so far seems like that thread has the working stock rom for CDMA.
I guess you can use it just to restock, put CWM, then you can put Galaxy Cubed
Thread moved. Please post in the correct section in future.
Thanks
