CWM recovery not seeing deodexed .zip - Motorola Droid Bionic

Like it says in the title I have downloaded kejar's deodexed debloated but when I boot to recovery it doesn't show my downloads folder or any folders at all except backups in nandroid. So I renamed it to update.zip and moved it to the root of sd I tried navigating to it through choose from sd but no luck still. Then just as a shot in the wind I tried running install update.zip from sd since I knew everything was in place for that and still no dice. Oh I have also tried restrapping and tried again. Anyone else having this issue or know what I can do?

Your moving it to sd card not sdcard-ext, you got to remember the sdcard is actually the phone, sdcard-ext is the sd card. Just move the file then try you should be good

There is an official dionic bootstrap app on the market that gives you the ability to choose both internal or external. It's like 2.99 but we'll worth it.
I'm having the same problem as the OP. Using Liberty build 46 but I think this is a bionic-specific issue, not something to do with custom roms. I want my actual sd card to mount as /sdcard and not as /sdcard-ext. I looked through the CWM mount menu but I didn't see what I should change there.

you are talking bout something different than the op. he just couldnt see his sd in cwm recovery. the older version would only read the sd ext but the official version on the market will read both.
there is a thred somewhere that does kinda a flip flop of the sd cards so that your sd card ext mounts as your internal and your inernal mounts as your sd card ext. BUT you cannot use usb massstorage mode when you plug your phone to the computer or it will bootloop. you have to use media sinc mode only

Help! Forget to copy zip file in root before flash

Hi,
I am trying to update ATT Captivate from Froyo to Gingerbread. I first copied zip file into sd and flash back to stock JF6 rom. Then I did a facotry reset which erase everytthing on SD and I forget to copy zip file back again. I then used Apex flasher to flash GB 2.3.3 bootloader and the kernel. Now I can get into CWM recovery but there is not zip file I can flash. Does this happens to anyone before and what is the solution?
Thanks
you should be able to mount your sd card from cwm and drag the zip from your computer. I haven't tried it yet myself, but I saw that it was possible on one of the mobile tech reviews.

Yes it works.
I do it all the time while testing, get finished compiling an apk and throwing it in a zip, then get too exited and boot into recovery before I copy it over

HELP

i rooted my phone already and put this rom on my sd card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326542
but idk what to do next can someone help me
Did you move it to the external side of the sd card with file expert ?
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA App
what does external side mean? i put it on the root of the sd card
Go into file expert , find the rom you downloaded under the sd card , then either copy it or move it to the external folder under the sd card. Then when you go into cwm and select file from sd card it'll be there. I had trouble with it when I first done it too

Copy it from /sdcard and move it /_externalsd. Then you are going to want to boot into clockworkmod, either by downloading quick boot from the market or by powering down the phone and holding power + volume down. Follow the instructions for the ROM installation and enjoy!

external SD needed for root/flashing?

Hi guys,
I want to root and flash custom roms on my Galaxy Note that is currently on stock Touchwiz rom with android 4.0.3.
Do I really need an external SD card for some reason? Can't I just install the files for rooting and flashing custom roms on my internal storage (and in which folder should I put them?)
I've rooted my HTC Magic and HTC Desire Z in the past, but have no experience doing these things on a Samsung device.
Thanks!

No need of External Card. You can do all the things from your Internal SD Card
I just tried to root my Galaxy Note using this method http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-no...on-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-no-computer-required/.
I used an external sdcard as shown in the video and did everything he did in the video.
I just got into the stock bootloader and managed to install CMW.zip from there. But once i’m in there my phone just can’t seem to find the 3 zipfiles that I’ve put into /sdcard/external_sd. When I got in CMW and I clicked “choose zip from sd card” and then clicked the ‘external_sd’ folder I got the message ‘No files found’. When I clicked “choose zip from internal sd card” I got “E: Can’t Mount /emmc/”.
What’s the problem? I already tried unmounting & mounting my sdcard in CMW.. I also see the 3 files when I’m browsing through my system and storage folders..
Thank you!!!

In some CWM version, internal and external SD location is swapped. Maybe you can try opening internal SDcard to locate your external-SD card.

Thank you guys! SO..
So all I should do is:
Reboot SGN into "download mode" (Vol down + Home + Power))
- Start pc ODIN
- Click the PDA button, and select the "SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.tar" file (I downloaded it from the Dr.Ketan guide)
- Connect the SGN to computer
- Click the START button
- Wait for the phone to reboot TWICE
- Done ---> My phone is rooted and I can continue using my phone now with the stock ICS Rom that was already on it???
Thanks everyone for your help! :good:
You will b on gb rom by this. U need to use mobile odin to update ics from there.

[CWM][Script]Storage Swap for 4.2 ROMs

I modified the original script to work for our mount, and then put it in a flashable to flash after flashing a ROM to have storage swapped right away after booting. No need to manually move the script to /system/etc/init.d any more.
Let me know if there's any issues.
Thanks to original script author and others who figured out what mounts are which.
DOWNLOAD
Script info:
extsd2internalsd is a modification that allows to switch internal sd to external sd and viceversa. With this you can use default internal sd only for app storage and the external sd to store all apps resource and all others stuff. The result is a very big increase of installable apps on your device.
All credits to Mattiadj of xda forum for the idea and script and to mike1986 for the cmw zip.
Script Modified for U.S. Galaxy S3s by Zedomax at GalaxyS3Root.com to be compatible when sdcard is not inserted.
This is ONLY for 4.2 custom ROMs with unlocked boot loaders of course. Not tested with stock 4.1 or CM10 (4.1) You are welcome to try it though and let me know the results.

I lost all of my game data. I have TB but I can seem to get it to stick with root explore. I'll format both sdcard and the external , reinstal the zip and hope that I can get it back.

I can't get 4.2 to read the storage in settings correctly. I put a specially named folder on my external SD card and when it shows up as internal I know it works. You won't be able to see the external SD anymore which is now technically the internal.
Formatting SD cards won't make any difference here. All were doing is telling the system one is the other.

I have my game data on my computer, I can't seem to make it stick so I can restore my games to where I was last playing.
I haven't formated anything. After I flashed the zip my data went away, but on the other hand I can see the data folders in root explorer.

To undo just delete the script in /system/etc/init.d
This isn't doing anything obtrusive guys its just placing the script for you is all.
Its recommended you do this after a clean install of whatever ROM you run.
As for the game save data I will swap the storage and then OPEN each game to make it create the corresponding folders and then restore
Does it work on 4.1.2 Mexico Retail debloated?
What if i have apps installed and my mmry card is also filled?
Seeing as how it says 4.2 roms only what do you think man? You can try it to see if it works though. You really want to do it on a fresh rom install.

Side loading from the SD card gives me problems yeah. I actually went back to default and just use the symlink method for Google music.
