Hi gang....
So I did a full wipe and installed CM7 nightly 09202011 on my OG Droid and now when I go to install Maps from the market it says that it isnt compatible with my device.
I deleted data on the market apps and restarted and same issue.
Any ideas?
As have been said, nightly CM7 roms can include some bugs. Try installing previous used version, changes are not big.
Dropped back to 8/28/2011.... still an issue.
Wierd.
I might just be a retard, but there's no built-in wifi tethering in our cyanogenmod, is there?

Hmm, I have no ideas... Try to look in current area settings, it can be problem with area settings. No ideas then...
dumb question, but do you have it set default to install to your SD?, also, did you flash gapps along with the cm7 build? I'm not certain but I believe you must all ready have maps in data/system/app and the market version is only an update.!

I have just rooted my Nexus One and by far is a lot better. I'm having a problem with it tho. Upon trying to install the N1 Torch Light in the Android Market, it downloads and installs, but when I run it, it ask for permission and I click yes. Then the app just hangs on and I have to force close it. Same thing with other free apps from the rooted section of the Android Market. What can be the cause of this?
Are you using Cyanogenmod or modaco's desire? or another one?

I was using the Stock Rom+Cyanogen Add On, then I installed the Cyanogen 5 rom and everything went perfect. Went to test out the rooted apps and it works like a charm. Thanks
i am currently running on CM7 on my milestone (2.3.4), i found out that there is no mobile hotspot function in it......could be taken out by CM, not sure
if there are no roms with internal hotspot, will the wifi tethering app work the same way?
if so, anyone could please tell me which is the best wifi tethering app in the market now, please and thanks all
Jon
All the roms I tested have the "3G Mobile Hotspot" built-in, and it works fine. I used FroyoMod, CyanogenMod 6 and 7, ShadowModBR, MIUI, Ho!No! and IceAndFire and I think all of them have the app. I recomend the FroyoMod.

Weird, I'm running CM7, the latest RC (7.1.0-RC1-11.05.08), and I have the 3G Mobile Hotspot app, it's the first app listed in my app drawer.
If you don't have that though, you may want to check your CM7 update package, and make sure it contains Mynet.apk in the system\app\ path. That is the .apk file for the 3G Mobile Hotspot app. If it IS in your update package, perhaps just try reflashing CM7.
Barring that, you can also download the Android Wireless Tether app, but it's NOT in the market, as far as I can see. You can get it from http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/. That app worked for me before I started using CM7.

I have my Inc running Cm7 7.1 RC1
Radio 2.15.10.05.06
Kernel Chads Incredikernel 7062011
Why the hell is this setup so unstable?
Some days it runs fine.. Other days I get force closes on messaging, Android market, the camera,
Its so annoying..
To everyone else how stable is your phone on an every day basis?
Exact same setup as you, once in awhile FC on startup for a few apps, but no FC otherwise. what's really annoying though is sometimes entire system becomes unresponsive and auto reboots

If you undervolted your kernel then this is a common issue, and it means you should raise the voltages.
--
Also I haven't gotten any FC's running CM7.1 #106 nightly.
If it's bugging you enough and you want to *try* and fix it then I suggest you flash the latest nightly (#136 or 137) - but make sure you do a full wipe and format /system. Also clear all your caches. If you do restores from TIbackup then make sure you don't restore data.
That's all I can suggest, hope your problems with CM gets sorted out eventually.
^ Also try fixing permissions.

I get the force closes and unresponsiveness time to time no matter what rom. Most of the time it's an app but every once in while it is a system app.
A lot of times it is poorly written apps not the rom. Run without any apps and you will see your phone runs great for a long time. Unfortunately theres no way to know if an app is written well without trying it. I wish google had a better way to control this.
I'm on and off CM. Ive been running 7.1.0. for about a week havent had a problem/FC. I have also restored app+data using TBU even though it isn't recommended Do you have this problem with any other roms.

lol, cm's code is fine...
Usually things like this are user error/app related, and if not, then most likely something wrong with your phone. Otherwise we would see a mass amount of users reporting these problems. Which we don't..
Running CM7, I've had no fc's at all, no app problems, etc when following instructions, other than in the past some of the legitimate bugs that have popped up, and been fixed.
Did you flash RC1 over a nightly or any other previous CM build?, restore apps with Ti-Backup, Over or underclocked the kernel at all, Other various things that could result in fc's? Might wana try just running with no apps like nfiniti9 said, on a fresh install, Default kernel, and then see what happens.
I used the same setup besides the radio. I'm using 2.15.00.11.19 and I found it to be really buggy as well. Right now I'm using nightly 130 and incredikernel 06192011. I found this kernel to be more stable for me.

I have same setup with aggressive undervolt script from chad. Have not had a force close or reboot yet, and I have been using RC1 since it dropped, and nightlies for weeks before that. I am using the new GB leak radio also.
Obvious, but have you done a full clean wipe/flash? Check MD5 sum?
CM7RC3
Latest Incredikernel
Never changed radio
100% stable
OMFGB nightly 7-05
chads beta 2 with usb fast charge
stock radio
800 min voltage and -25 max voltages.
nothing to complain about, stock battery lasts anywhere from 5- 13 hours depending how hard i use it
any issues i was having i think i found out the problem... i was uaing titanium to restore after a full wipe and i was restoring all my settings wbich messed the phone up again after a clean wipe... this time i got smarter and did a clean wipe but i only restored my applications instead of system settings... this seems to have fixed issues for now.

Running cyanogenmod 7.0.2.1 and I'm about to switch to 7.0.3 because I'm getting a lot of force closes lately, running the latest incredikernel as well.
1. This doesn't belong in development. Being a QUESTION, it would be much better suited to Q&A.
2. The OP is the fool that was trolling Chad's thread.
Facedown41 - I'd recommend flashing the latest nightly, its perfectly stable with a lot of new features. 7.0.3 is a bit dated.

Same here. I just started using CM for about a week or so but so far not 1 fc 100% stable and fast.
Cm7 7.1 RC1 <---- problem right there.
RC = 100% stable.
im still on 7.0.3
The solution to your problem is to run a cache cleaner. This happened to me many times before and if you run it, it clears up a lot of space in the data/data partition so your apps have room in the memory to run w/o force closing!
Im running a cm9 nightly.
When i saw a stable version was available, i downloaded it and attempted to flash
It got the attached pic when i attempted.
Is there any way to do it via cell phone? I do not have a computer, so this is the only option.
It should be noted i only want to move to the stable version because my GPS does not work with this nightly, so if there is a fix for that, it will be good as well.
Thanks.

From your picture it looks like you downloaded a ROM for the wrong phone. The error youre getting is the updater script trying to verify what phone its being installed to. The error is referencing galaxys and i9000 when the captivate is an sgh-i897. On cm's site its also labeled as captivatemtd in the download list.
Verify that the ROM you have downloaded is specifically for the captivate and/or download the one for the captivate and try again.

Depending on the modem you have installed it could be causing your problems. I was messing with modems one day and flashed one that gave me great signal but when I went to use my GPS I couldn't get it to lock onto a single sat.
http://soggycashew.weebly.com/cm7miui--ics-modems.html
That will take you to a rather extensive list of available modems. Use the ones that are located directly at that link. There are other options but they will not install on cm7 and up.
I personally use the ugkg3 and it works great

I have only ever used CM, and haven't installed anything else, so I guess it is a stock modem (not even entirely sure what a modem is). The thing is, my GPS used to work on cm7, but once I put on the cm9 nightly, it stopped. I bent the antenna out a bit to make sure it was making contact with the battery cover (saw that on the internet), and when I turned it back on, it caught its location once, but wouldn't do it again. I guess I'll have to make a desperate thread about my GPS not.working. thanks for the help though!
I highly recommend the GPS fix flashable mod. I never had working GPS without it. An xda search will lead you there.

The best way to know would be to read their thread (last few pages and OP) as well as trying it for yourself.
Not entirely sure if it's related to CM, but only on the latest stable (10.0) I've had issues with my WiFi not wanting to stay connected, even on a strong connection.
Everything else works great!

I just installed it yesterday. Problem with mine was that the ASOP keyboard not working. Luckily I just dled teh swiftkey.apk a day earlier. Play store wasn't working for me either and the browser just open and close. That's all i tried. I'm going back to CM9 til I know whats wrong and back up some data.
I installed the stable cm10 and the gapps. Hope others dont run in to the same problem as me
Did you restore your apps or app data? That would most likely cause this problem. Or flashing the wrong gapps.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
No, once I got cm10 installed. I was trying to change some of the settings and found "keyboard(ASOP) stopped working" or some error message along the line of that when I try to enter wireless password. After installing swiftkey, I tried opening play store and it just have "server error"
So I haven't gotten to getting titanium backup yet to restore apps
I just took the latest gapps (the first link on the list), so I'm not sure if that's the right one. I'll try again during the weekend. I'll let you guys know if it goes well.
I'm on CM 10 latest stable build, 4.1.2. Came from GB kk4 plus corn 7 kernel. with latest gapps. I use touchpal keyboard.
I have TiBU pro, but rather than batch install apps, I went though google play to install apps, then selectively restored data on apps with TiBU as needed. While this took some time with this approach (96 apps), CM10 is flawless, virtually no probs at all. it actually seems more stable than before.
at times a little laggy but not a showstopper.

UPDATE: Just flashed to CM10 stable. I found out that the GAPPS I used last time was actually for CM10.1.0 while the CM10 that is out is only CM10.0.0
Be sure to get the right version of GAPPS. The latest one they have is for CM10.1.0

Looks like I'm the unlucky one den. I'm about to try again. I'm using cm's 3.0.8-g2311908 kernel.
Wish me luck.
you are correct, you want the 10.0.0 version from goo, which points to gapps 4.2, backward compatible to 4.1.

thats what I used. I guess the 4.2 set the 'latest' bit in my brain.
