[Q] Help with uploading video - LG Optimus 2x

I recorded my best mates best man speech at a wedding using out LG 02x running CM7, thouhgt id do it on the best quality, so i have a 5 minute m4v video at 1080p 29fps.
MY trouble is that i cant upload it to youtube, when ive tried it always fails, so am assuming its because youtube doesnt like the m4v file, so ive converted it to a few different file types, and then ive uploaded these to youtube, this all works fine, but my problem is that when it converts the video, it changes the FPS to either 25, or 29.97? so the audio gets out of sync.
Does anyone know how to overcome this?

What video settings work (all rants off please :) )

I think most of the active members are aware of the video difficulties SO please (please, please) turn your rants off for this thread. What I am trying to find is a combination of settings that DO work.
My preferred codec is MP4.
From some suggestions in other threads, I have tried these encoding settings.
Screen resolution: 320x240
Frames Per Second: 30
Kbps: 300
Audio codec: [email protected]
...and I am playing back on TCPMP 0.72RC1 using these settings
Options/Video: Raw FrameBuffer
Options/Video/Dither: Off
Options/Video/Pixel Aspect Ratio: Auto
Options/Settings/Advanced/Slow Video Memory: On
Options/Settings/Buffering/Preload at Underrun: 85%
Using this, all I get for video is about 1 frame every 3 seconds. Audio is fine.
So can anyone add this this for getting MP4 to work?
Do I need to use a different codec? If so, I would prefer something other then AVI, since I have a mixed environment. Does anyone have suggestions on the best cross platform Codec, that has work well on the Kaiser?
I'd be interested in this too. I can play back videos taken from the video camera flawlessly but when trying to encode them to the same MP4 codec they can get choppy. Not sure what gives :0
Using WMV here
I couldn't get the mp4 output from my ATI Multimedia Centre software to work at all on my TyTN II so I've settled on WMV 9 at 352 x 288 resolution and 372 kbps (thats at 15 fps). Anything with higher bit rate than that seems to cause problems with to much screen tearing during fast movement scenes.
You might want to follow this thread... seams that the Core Player is attacking this known problem for the Tilt. I'm by no means an expert on this, but seems like the Qualcomm QTV technology for the video has some issues:
http://www.corecodec.com/forums/index.php?topic=596.0
I use PDXE, Lathe, and a few others to encode Divx videos at 320x240 video quality at "28" audio in stereo at 96 or 128k MP3 with a total bitrate under 500k (usually shoot for 475kbps). If the encoder allows it, for portable video I bump the audio volume by 15% and I increase brightness as well. To me most movies look darker on the small screen. If cropping is allowed I crop widescreen content, cutting off some of the sides of the picture to get closer to the 3:4 ratio of PDA screen. I also like to turn the brightness down as much as possible to increase battery life so the bump in brightness helps there as well. An average movie 1:50 length is about 480MB
I've used Core and TCPMP (currently using TCPMP for the youtube capability) and use Rawframe buffer as well. I'm sure that Core 1.2 will make things even better.
I get 30FPS and normal fluid video, looks like my other 8525, hx4700, and Archos 320 and 400 units with crisp clear video, no complaints.
This MP4 doesnt play on my pc only the phone???

There's lots avout video formats in the wiki here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=The H.264 (a.k.a. MPEG-4 Part 10 and AVC) Bible
FWIW my mp4s recorded on my TyTN II wont playback on my PC either, it's simply a case of finding a suitable codec.
recorded videos on Tilt not playing on vista with sound!! I GOT IT FIXXX

Hey thanx for the reply but VLC is what i got installed and doesnt work, thought someone else had the same issue like mine. The .MP4 files that the TiLT records doesnt playback properly. PROBLEM is : I get the video portion just fine, but no sound. I have the. I tried in Media Player, VLC, QuickTime, RealPlayer, etc.... All the same... video plays but no sound.
I googled the issue and found out some other HTC phone users got it too and a couple solutions i found are.
1. In QuickTime it says: "Error 2041 - Invalid sample description in movie"
Solution: Checked the Apple.com or quicktime forums, if you use quicktime, change the file name from .MP4 to .3GP and it will work, it will not work otherwise. (if you dont know how to rename the files or dont see extension, Windows vista or XP go to tools>folder options>view>uncheck hide file extensions for known file types and voila)
2. Since I did so much reading on this, I got a new player (KMPlayer) that beats vlc in my books it plays the files recorded from the tilt just fine unlike VLC latest build, its fast and does all vlc does but it has a better GUI and plays anything you throw at it. you can get kmplayer here
Conclusion: The TiLt is fine, just that I couldnt get the right player to run the video files it records. apparently there is some issue with the qualcomm processor and the video output files of .MP4, some others have reported issues with any .MP4 files and had to do the same listed above.
Hope this helps someone here...
if you want an mp4 player on your pc for free, go to nokia.com

MANY THANKS! zulualpha7,
I have had the error 2041 problem for a long time and have never been able to play vids recorded on my TyTn II on my PC.
I almost installed various codec packs as other forum members have done but after reading about potential problems of having multiple codecs for same file type and upsetting the system I decided not to do this.
I have some really important 'once in a lifetime' family moments like my friend's son catching his first fish etc... I though they were all lost for ever.
I just downloaded latest Quicktime and renamed file extensions to ".3gp" like you said and now I can watch everything!!!!
Thank you so much this really has been a big improvement for me.
ONCE AGAIN THIS FORUM ROCKS! Thanks to everyone for so much fantastic helpful info.

[Q] Some .flv videos won't play

So yesterday I was playing around and tried to get some porn clips to play on the phone. I downloaded a video (using a greasemonkey script) and then I transfer the .flv to one of the cards.
It says something like: "filetype not admited" ("tipo de archivo no admitido")
Does it have to do with the flash version? I have stock jf3 root and lagfix app.
Youtube is ok, spankwire or xvideos, are not. You can see it's a REALLY SERIOUS problem
However, sgs media player is supposed to get along with .flv right?
Is there a way for this videos (or others .flv) to play on the phone apart from converting?
i had something similar happen to me
but of course mine was an almost 4GB file with surround sound all channels and HD but it was on 720 mkv, but it gave me the same message
now i loaded another similar mkv file but it was only stereo and that worked fine
seems like the phone can't support HD audio
I see. So it probably has to do with the audio then.
I can resemble this situation
Like all original, un-modded Droid owners, I was looking forward to Froyo and Flash player 10.1. Well, it finally got here. Sites now work, (e.g. Kongregate) and others. Works with Youtube and such. Does not work with .flv files, haven't tried .swf files yet, nothing seems to play from the device, AFAIK.
I would speculate that what we see when things do "play" on the device is the streaming variety of the media.

One of these days I will get around to rooting my Droid and my Eris. Someday....
I have similar problem. I´ve downloaded Megavideo application and when I try to play the video from app with stock player (and I beleived that Galaxy S stock player must handle .flv without problems) so it starts to play, but only with black screen and no sound. In Rockplayer or others it works just fine. Any suggestions how to help it? Thanks a lot
I think the best option is to just use RockPlayer for this.
I've tried using video converters but it's not worth it because audio/video quality can suffer or even get messed up badly. RockPlayer is just more convenient and simple.

[Q] Video Questions

I've installed RockPlayer on the NC and it seems to run standard def video (avi) that I've got in the 20-25 fps range while hd (720p) video is pretty much a slide show. What are the NC's capabilities video wise?
I ran quadrant and can see that the 3D performance isn't good compared to my Samsung Captivate but does that apply to video as well? I've played the same videos on my Captivate using RockPlayer and the stock video player and the stock player works much better than RockPlayer on the phone with much smoother playback. I've tried to copy the video player to the NC but get install errors every time so I'm guessing that it's incompatible.
Are there better video players that people recommend?
I am using mixzing to watch my movies. Works great!
Anyone else getting out of sync audio on... Everything? I've tried lots of sw player and not a one was in sync (avi, mp4, sd, hd). From what I've read, 2.2 should fix this, but bummer if it doesn't. I've got an ipad, and want to want the nook instead since the ipad isn't the laptop replace I thout it would be.
EDIT: Looks like MP4's are in Sync, so I assume it's the FFMPEG software decode that these players are using, as the MP4 should be done in hardware. Hopefully this thing'll get 2.2 before Jan. 3rd when my B&N return is up!

I'm having the same problem and hoping someone figures out why. I can't imagine it's a hardware problem...
What exactly is the point on watching a HD file in a non HD device? With the Nook's screen you can get away with a 480P video and it'll look fantastic. Lower resolutions will look pretty decent too. Pixels are all nice and good but there's a time and a place for everything... well, in this case only a place and that's your living room big screen TV
Using the stock player on the Nook I am having no issues with audio and video staying in sync.
Mixzing is great, but won't play avi files. I don't want to have to convert all my files just to play on one device...
act 1 video player works fine for me no sync issues

Per your post I checked this out and you are right...it does work great with more options while playing. I think the only way to "back" out of a movie is to use the "n" button though. ?

[Q] Why can't I get my video and audio to sync correctly?

Hi there. I've had my nook color for about a week, and I'm having quite a problem getting my videos to play with the audio and video properly synced. I've done quite a bit of reading, but I haven't been able to find anything about this, so I'm hoping you fine people will be able to give me a hand here.
The Problem - The video is consistently about a quarter of a second ahead of the video. That is to say, I will hear what's being said/going on before I'll see it. Another interesting phenomenon is that this same issue occurs within Angry Birds, except that the video moves/plays first, and then the audio plays catch up.
About my nc- I rooted using Autonooter, I have working gapps, and my software version is 1.0.0. I have flashed the "Screamer" 950 Mhtz kernel, and most everything seems to be working except for the above mentioned video. Angry
What I've tried - A better question is what I haven't tried. I've tried converting the XviD AVI video files to M4V, I've tried playing from the internal memory, microSD card, and approximately 6 different video players ranging from ArcSoft, to VitalPlayer, to the dreaded VPlayer. All yield the same result with 3 different video files.
So, what do you guys think? Would upgrading to 1.0.1 or even 1.1.0 help with this? Or am I doing something else wrong? Any suggestions are welcome at this point.
Thanks ahead of time.

Are you using Handbrake to format your videos for the Nook Color?
The best format is mp4 with a resolution of 624x352 with the video codec at H.264.
You can download Handbrake here: http://handbrake.fr/
The built-in video player works fine for these videos.
Thanks for the reply.
I was converting videos using Freemake to m4v, and the converter has an Android preset. These playback just fine on my computer. As soon as I move them to the nook, playback is out of sync.
Do you think it would make any differnce to update to 1.0.1 or 1.1.0?

Video recorded with Smooth Motion playback is distorted.

Hey everyone.
I have the Bell (Canadian) note 3 and I just tried the smooth motion video recording. Very neat, but the playback is very garbled and distorted. When I play it on my PC it's fine.. Could this be a flaw in the phone that could cause issues?
Anyone else have or hear about this?

I resolved it. Turns out another video playback app was set as default and it cannot handle the video. Only stock samsung app is able.
Works great now.
Video playback on android is where video playback on PC was a decade and change ago: A maze of incompatible codecs and video playback tools, and nowhere is there any decent explanation of how the whole mess is supposed to work together or why it sucks so much.
It was just as bad on PCs before. I remember having to have like half a dozen different video players, because each one could handle some - but not all - video formats. And you couldn't rely on file associations either (as is the case on android today), because all the video formats that we talk about are just "containers", which can contain video data encoded with any of a number of different codecs. So you can't say "Play the .mp4's with this player, the .wmv's with the other player" - but that's the level that file associations work on.
Suffice to say, my experience with making my existing video library play on android has been very frustrating, and there are still numerous videos that play fine on windows which I haven't been able to play on android. Naturally, just like on windows in the dark ages, none of the players provide useful feedback on what went wrong - a failure results in black screens, or no sound, or a force close, or occasionally a useless error. God forbid they say something like "the required codec ______ is not available", so I'd know what I needed to look for. Is there a reason for this? Who knows?!
It probably doesn't help that google has a financial interest in it being difficult to play video from sources other than their Google Play Movies store and Youtube.
