SOLVED
My phone is rooted, flashed to dynamic's rom(2.3.5) and semaphore 1.7bm kernel.
When I turned tethering on, it said it's active but no tethering icon on my notification bar. I went to setting/tethering, it was checked but Error under its description.
Anything I should do to build up tethering when I flashed a wipe rom?
What can I do now? Flash other kernels?
P.s. I've rebooted my phone and it still doesn't work.

Hi,
I have the exact sam problem! How did you solve it?
Thanks
Q: I try to enable Tethering (Mobile AP or USB) and I get an error.
A: You have to use the enable_netfilter boot script. Copy the file from /res/scripts to /system/etc/init.d give it executable permissions and reboot.

Apologies for resurrecting an old post but I have been trying to copy the enable_netfilter boot script from /res/scripts to system/etc/init.d but it is taking a long time copying. An hour later it is still copying. Please help. I am using Root Browser Lite.
I am using SGS I9000 with GB 2.3.6 rooted and Semaphore 2.7.4

Mine works perfectly fine.
1) Install it.
2). Open browser... go to settings.. enable plug ins..
3) Restart browser (kill it using a task manager then restart it)
4) go to a flash website or google whats my flash and voila ...
Have fun!
Hmmm still not working. I have no idea why.
I have restarted the mobile with no luck.

Working fine for me in Dolphin HD browser.
I have found the problem... It's because I am flashing a different froyo file. It's something called rooted I9000xxjpc... I got it from another thread in the forum.
Now everything works fine... And I am loving every bit of it.
Thanks guys.

Hi everyone,
I update my galaxy s firmware to 2.3.4(XXJVR) using Odin.I root my phone with CF-root.
After this my, mobile AP tethering doesn't work.why?anyone can help me??
Also have JVR with CF-Root, tethering/mobile ap works fine. Do you use an app or build in tethering?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
no...i try to use the build tether...i tried the app's for wifi tether or usb tether but same problem
I have the same problem. When trying to activate tethering, it just says "error"
Flash galaxian kernel.... Works best for tethering

if something goes wrong while rooting galaxy s will it be able to get to its default(official) firmware?
You could try to reset to factory settings first. If that won't fix it, you can still flash after all.
I used this method some time ago successfully:
Method: Downgrade from Gingerbread (XXJVK) to Froyo (XXJPY)
milky's mod + milky's kernel : mobile ap works fine ^^
I use semaphore kernel which is based on CF-root, so this might work for you:
Use something like root explorer, check if you have enable_netfilter in /res/scripts, copy it to /system/etc/init.d, then give it all the executable permissions.
If not, maybe try using a different kernel
thx mate !!!
solved problem with Mobile AP, Tethering !
worked for this Custom ROM:
[ROM][JVT 2.3.5] Dynamic III [10LockScreen][12/10/11]

I flashed yesterday my SGS with JB v6. it's beautiful.
just a couple of things are out...
1) APN!!!
I can't set my apn manually and the option "restore default apn" doing nothing!
2) ROOT
Now the SGS is not rooted (don't know because after flash is unrooted).
How is the procedure to root it again on JB?
any idea to solve my problems?
There is a separate file for root, you have to flash that un cwm as well. Find it in the first post of the thread

i guys, today i am using ICS 4.0.3(Claro BR) on my Note, the official firmware, rooted but never flashed any ROM(Don't wanna wipe) and this morning i was trying to install some modded SMS apps(I was really angry with automatic conversion to MMS on long texts). I used CWM and flashed an app without backing up the old one, the app doesn't work and i can't get the original back. Can someone please help me? (I am travelling and without acess to my computer at the moment)
I would be very grateful if someone with the stock ROM post their MMS.apk so i can try to i install it.

Unfortunately I don't have that saved...
You have a few options while on the road.
1. Download a third party MMS app from play store.
2. Reflash your ROM using mobile Odin
3. Download the 4.0.3 ROM. Extract the necessary file using root explorer. Place it in /system/app and set proper permissions.
Other things you can do too...but sounds like those would be easiest for you

Thanks bro, at the moment i am using an thirdy part app from PlayStore.
I will get home next week and try to download the 4.0.3 firmware and extract with ES File Explorer, i only need to download the .zip(?) to my External SD and search for the apk on my Note, right?
Sorry guys, brought my first Android one month ago, still a noob getting used to the SO.

Maybe you want to heed the following advice: Always make a Nand backup before you alter system apps/ files. If you have a Nand backup you can always restore your rom like it was before you did the modifications.

Yeah in es, you can locate the /system/app folder in the tar file.
Locate the appropriate file.
Copy it to your /system/app.
Next step is crucial- set proper permissions. Just do it the same as all other other files.
If you have problems you can always dirty flash the ROM
NOTE TO YOU AS A NEW USER. KNOW THAT STOCK ICS 4.0 KERNELS ARE UNSAFE AND IF YOU DO A FACTORY RESET YOU MAY KILL YOUR NEW PHONE. Please read the stickies on brick bug and you can install philz kernel to avoid issues.
And like other guy said...do nandroid backups...
Please hit thanks to me and other guy if we helped.

Thanks guys, i have a friend that downloaded the firmware and uploaded the file to Dropbox for me, e everything is working perfectly for me.
And i am not thinking about changing my kernel at the moment, and the only ROM i think i will install is the official JB release.(Not the leaks)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Then don't do any factory resets...
Hit thanks button... we spend a lot of time to try to help...
Take care

I've been running CM 10.1 on my 7310 for a couple of months - it's slow, but it does the job.
Today it started misbehaving more than usual, so I rebooted. It's spent the afternoon rebooting itself about once every five minutes - freeze and hard reboot (Samsung splash screen). I tried different versions of CM and AOKP to figure out if it was hardware or software, no change.
I wiped it and flashed CM 9 nightlies a couple of hours ago, and got the same behaviour. After some googling I found aLogrec and turned it on. As soon as it boots and tries to start recording the logcat, it hard reboots. I figure the onboard flash storage is borked - is there anything I can do? I can't even get it to boot into Recovery, it just loops forever.
I'm hoping someone out there can give me some ideas before I go out and spend on a Nexus 7..
Have you tried to see what happens if you install official ICS with Odin?

You could see if odin still recognize it and fish a stock rom. But by the sound of it I think you're sol.

Odin recognised it and has flashed the right ICS official, but it just sits on a glowing Samsung logo.
Odp: [Q] Is my Tab dead?
I will wipe all data/cache from recovery and see if that works, but I'm not so experienced and you should wait for someone with proper knowledge to give you advice But you just might give it a try
First thing I tried, but thanks for the suggestion

Glad to hear it worked out for you.

It's been stable on the CM10.1 M2 build all day. I don't know why the official 4.0.4 firmware didn't work, but I'm glad I tried 3.2 before giving up.
Thanks again to everyone who offered suggestions.

Be a ninja and paste the link to the rom you used. I've borked my upgrade too. I can get in to loki for oden to send the rom, just need the rom that will work with oden.
Thanks,

I flashed the 4.0.4 from here and it didn't work, so I tried the 3.2 and restored it to shipped state using Odin. After that I rooted and reinstalled CWM with Odin, and then flashed the CM 10.1 M2 build from the Development forum here the usual way (copy to SDcard, reboot recovery).
Good. I should have mentioned you have to start with gingerbread. Could have saved you a step.
