[Q] HD Dock w/ case? - Motorola Droid Bionic

I've got a pretty slim case, it's the incipio MT-141 SILICRYLIC... I'd post a link but apparently im too new.
Any chance i could use the HD Dock without taking it out of the case? The case is a pain in the ass to get on/off so this is kind of a dealbreaker on whether or not to get the dock....

It fits even with the extended battery and heavy-duty shell / holster case. (which I have) There is an insert in the dock that you can take out to accommodate cases.

Score!

Hold on, this case fits extended battery? (Smart) Only comes in ugly whit/grey (stupid) and covers LED notification (stupid again )

The hard case holster combo from verizon fits over the extended battery cover. The whole thing (minus the holster ) fits in the HD dock.

Yes, I have the extended battery and picked up the Shell\Holster combo from vzw. It fits the extended battery very nice and fits in the dock.

I have the Shell/Combo case but this thing is terrible for protection and the holster is atrocious. The nice and shiny top and bottom of the phone is exposed to scratches and nicks in the shell and the holster barely holds anything (I travel a lot in the subway and it fell out several times onto the floor when shuffling between people). I can not trust this. I am seriously hoping Seidio rushes out their extended battery cases soon. Otterbox just refuses to account for extended batteries, but since protection is top priority for me more so than battery life, I guess I'm stuck to using the regular battery with Otterbox until Seidio's comes out.

I thought the Shell\Combo was very similar to the Seidio case I had for my TB with the extended battery. So far no problems with it falling out but I haven't been using the belt clip portion. (I usually carry in my pocket). Also I don't use the subway so I can see how that would factor in. So far Seidio hasn't posted anything about an extended battery case, if they do that would be great.
I like the case while it does leave the top and bottom exposed it allows me to use the extended batery in both the car and HDMI dock.
i'm pretty happy with my shell case, and the kickstand is great for using my phone as a clock at night.

Just picked up the Car Dock and I can confirm that the shell case with extended battery works with it! Way to go Moto! You finally got it right.
I haven't driven with it yet, I will test that on the drive home.
Of note: The Car Dock doesn't come with a vehicle charger nor is there a plug for the audio cable in the dock. This would have been a nice feature to keep from having to reconnect it. But over all its a good accessory.
bought two extended batteries at the 50% off and the shell cases with kickstand and belt clip love them..

This works.

Works but it's uglier than sin.
You could drop $50, or $30 on Amazon, on the Otterbox Commuter.
Then cut a hole in the back....
then try and reform it together again
or try to find a half way decent silicone case that stretches.
I hate silicon cases, cause they don't slide into my pocket easily.
I have the one they sell at verizon that has the holster. I love the fact it fits in the HDMI and car dock with extended battery and case.

Recomend a hard case for exteneded battery?

I am looking for a hard case for the Bionic with a Verizon extended battery. It must also be compatible with the Car, and Home dock. Motorola list one, but I have not been able to find one.
Thanks

That's the only case I know about that's fits the extended battery...besides that the only other options you have are holsters which aren't really the same
I can't confirm that it fits the docks tho

18 months late, but the Diztronic case is still for sale on Amazon.com, and it's a beauty. I got it, and it fits MUCH better than that crap case with kickstand that Verizon sells for $40. In fact, this case fits so good, it fits into the nav dock (with the extended battery insert instead of the regular insert) and even the holster that came with that crap case Verizon sells.
Definitely worth $10

Sweet Armor GNote Bumper & Mugen Extended Battery

First Im sorry if this has been asked before but anyone tried sweet armor yet? If so, will it work with the Mugen Extended Battery? Thanks =)
http://www.thesweetarmor.com/en/13-sweet-armor-gnote-2
looks awesome but expensive for just a bumper.
It looks nice- though definitely a little pricey. Also looks a little bulky in the back? Maybe it's the images.
Coming from (SGS3 Galaxy S3) - new Note 2 owner
I've tried similar bumper for SGS3 - there is issues of the thing being heavy and adding to the weight of the device.
If the bumper makers had sense - they'd focus on the fit and adding protection - not adding looks/ metal and finish.
Now with extended batteries - the bumpers are a tough fit. Of the several I tried for the SGS3 only one fit.
If anyone knows better please post.
I have the Sweet Armor but no extended battery.

Looks good...but aluminum will dent if dropped so drop the phone your phone might be protected but you need to get a new case
Looks great, too expensive though.
Wow 70$. But i don't need an extra Note 2, I just want the bumper
Ihave a cheap metal bumper with my extended battery. You shouldnt have to worry about denting it but it will reduce signal and gps performance. Im going to mod it and see if I can remedy the issue. The one I bought was only 10 $ but doesnt screw together. I think the screw together versions are better. You should be able to find a cheap Chinese knock off sweet armor on ebay soon enough.
I had a sweet armor bumper and the mugen extended for the GNote 1 and they both fit perfectly, hence i asked =) It is indeed a little pricey so it will depend on personal preference, i guess. I have tried cheaper bumpers for the note 1 and none of them look as good as the sweet armor. Of course i understand some would prefer cheaper bumpers but this one has awesome look and finish. The sweet armor on my Note 1 still look as good today as it was on day 1 when i got it. Admitedly, I haven't dropped my Note 1 (thank god) so i cant say too much about the durability though. Not sure about the cheaper bumpers (i havent used them long enough) but definitely no dents/scratches from everyday wear and tear for this one though.
The only problem i had with the Note1 sweet armor though is that i lost a screw once and i had to replace it (it came with 5 extra screws btw) but that was my own negligence (prob a loose screw), never lost another screw after the first one til today =) the fit was awesome for my Note1, never had a reception problem (or not bad enough for me to notice at least). The extra weight wasnt a problem for me (I use a Note1 with the extended battery remember) but i'd think it wont add too much weight to a standard GNote. Just removed the bumper from my note1, and saw no scratch (from the bumper) on the sides of the phone.
PS: I went ahead and ordered one today and already got my shipping confirmation few hours later. I will try to update here with pics when it arrives. If it doesnt fit my mugen extended then i guess i will use it when im using the standard battery (I usually switch extended/standard battery depending on my need at the time). It will take a while cause i was being cheap and chose the cheaper shipping option.
Okay just got my bumper in the mail today. Fits perfect even with the mugen extended. Quality is awesome. Only complain I have is the side buttons feel a little loose, no biggie. And of course a lil too pricey. Comes with 3 extra buttons and five screws, loving it. It looks awesome =)

Sweet bumper but wayyy too pricey considering the chinese are banging the same thing out for $10 a unit.
Still please post pics when yours comes in.

I would love to buy several if they are of the same quality. Could you provide a link where these are available for $10 please?
UPDATE: Saw the other thread you participated in about aluminum bumpers and I see what bumpers you're referring to. While they look nice, you get what you pay for. I tried one of those and the quality is MUCH lower than the Sweet Armor. It is lighter, thinner, and scratches the GN2 easily. I believe in paying for quality if it can be had and the SA is worth it IMO.
No offense to those who bought the $10 eBay bumpers though.

I had the SA on my SII, it was sweet but pricey. After I sold my SII to get the Note, I gave the $10 bumper a go for a cheaper bumper look. Unfortunately, it messed up my Note. Plastic started chipping off between the screen and bezel.
Cons: Flimsy built, one time it slipped about half a feet high (in account with the weight of phone). The frame wasn't in the best of shape anymore. Unsatisfying premium look, actually made my phone look cheap. Tight slider, which cause plastic area to chip off over time and possible scratches to screen protector or phone if your not careful.
Pros: Cheap, easily replaceable. (provided not parts/accessory of your phone that needs replacement caused by the bumper)
Imho, you get what you paid for and I paid more. But kudos to those who had no problem with their bumpers. On my Note II, It's just sad case if I had to go thru it again, that's why I'm going back to SA
I had one of my Galaxy S1. Well made piece of kit but I ultimately didnt like the feel in the hand and was dubious about the shock protection (on that version there were only a few little thin foam strips inside the bezel.

My case/screen protector setup

Just ordered a few things and got them today.
1. ArmorSuit Military Shield-so far much better than zagg.
2.Cimo TPU gloss black-looks awesome and fits perfect.
Figured I would share because there isn't a whole lot out for this phone and I really like this setup. Looks better than without it IMO. Also protects it nice without adding a whole lot of bulk. All for 18 bucks on amazon.

Yea I never had any problems when I did the mod on my first phone. Either way Joker 1.5 has been doing great with my battery life.
I have the Otterbox comuter case in white. I have the screen protector that came with it and its pretty nice! The only objection I have is after taking it off a few times the silicon has become a little loose... will apply my hair drier to it and see if it fixes anything. The other day my beer spilled over my phone and the silicon layer prevented it from seeping into the phone itself. So pretty good! This is my favorite case because it seems to protect very nicely without adding too much bulk. Also... I like to have protection for the all the places on the phone with plugs... and this one does it. I do feel that it is a bit hard to align the silicon layer that rests on top of the volume and power buttons at times and if they are not completely aligned, they wont work. The case is pretty hard to put on especial the first few times.
I also have the Incipio Sycrilic case and its pretty decent... but the area around the sd card/ sim card slot is a bit loose. It protects corners pretty well, but Im afraid if I drop it and it falls on the sd card/sim area ... it will break. Also... I ordered this one from ebay at 6 dollars! I ordered the pruple ant the metal like one. Upon receiving them one of them was broken on the upper part (around the camera)... contacted the seller and they shipped a replacement, but I do feel it is easy to break. Overall its pretty good. The volume and power buttons on this one are covered by the silicon layer, but there is no protection for the plugs at all.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251137707975?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I also own the Body Glove Encore case... but this one the least protective of all. Leaves the top and bottom completely unprotected. Compared to the 2 cases described above, it is the thinnest. Its a snap on, one layer case compared to the dual protection of the others.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350687127577?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I have Otterbox defender case. This one is the bulkiest of all. Besides bulk the thing I dont like about this one is the incorporated screen protector. Although the idea is great I know one day it will be very scratched.
In the end... I would recommend the Otterbox Commuter case because its not too bulky, and the second one I would recommend is the Incipio sicrilic, especially since Im not one to drop (this) my phone so much (never have). If your on a budget on the link I posted to it... you can purchase Incipio for $5.99 (4.99 for the purple one) with free shipping compared to the Commuter that cost me $20 and Defender that I got for $40.
Im attaching picutres of the first 3 cases in the mentioned order.
I had the white commuter. It was a Damn pain to line up the buttons. As far as the screen getting scratched on the defender. Yeah it'll happen after awhile. But otterbox will warranty it and send you a whole new case. I have 3 defenders right now for this phone and only paid the original 50 bucks.
